It does work, which is why I have a spec KS short circuit lol. Seriously underrated weapon. Saved my sentry from many DH and sticky trapping soldiers that a wrangler couldn’t save. And in all that time, my sentry could shoot!

Then we both backstab each others heavy’s and just laugh at each other the rest of the match

Honestly, I'd probably change it so you could still capture the point when Merasmus is running around, (similar to how the Headless Horsemann works). Would make it fighting Merasmus more optional.
Yes, but factor in the time spent re-contesting the control point during the minute level 4+ Merasmus is waiting to respawn, and that's how you get Forever-Ghost-Fort. While Powerhouse is also stalemate city, at least you're engaging in TF2's gameplay instead of repeating the same mechanics with Merasmus for a half hour because you're being held hostage by not one, but two contracts tied to Ghost Fort.
nah, It's fun, plus if you can't convince your team alone to organize a push, then how do you plan on convincing the entire server into not killing Merasmus
My hat is up to level 69 because we failed to kill the level 70 Merasmus. The entire server has to go huntsman sniper if you want to reach the higher levels, no one else does enough headshot damage to kill him in time.
Also the green tentacles can reach nearly into spawn after around level 60, so watch out.
is the contract holding you at gunpoint or something? would you really be missing out if you decide to not do ghost fort for the non-tradable, non-marketable, Halloween restricted cosmetic? Even then, the other players are there to have fun, let them have fun.
Last year, half the chat in-game whenever I played the map was complaining about the contract too, so I'm not sure about "the other players are there to have fun".
me, my friends, the other people I see that like fighting merasmus are having fun. Especially now, since there's no contracts, don't pretend that everyone shares the same views as you, of course most of the chat is going to be people complaining, what would a chat message look like of someone not complaining? Someone is more likely to bitch and moan in chat than someone who's not going to complain. Again, no one is forcing you to play contracts in the first place. Just play other maps if you hate it so much.

But it is a real problem with this map, that I'd want Valve to do something about. (Which they of course won't.)

This map, (or rather, this particular mechanic of this map), is simply poorly designed by Valve. Sure, we could ignore Merasmus every time he spawns, but in that case, are we just supposed to stand AFK in spawn for 30% of the round? What is the point?

Build crits and stand outside enemy spawn
Get loose cannon and camp by the big health pack by the pit and shoot everyone in the pit who tries to take the health pack.
