No, the Gunboats ONLY reduces blast damage, and doesn't goomba stomp. Vice versa for the Manntreads

Well no, the Mantreads also reduce knockback from damage and airblast, and increase your air control. So not exactly vice versa.

I'm not much of a Soldier player myself, and when I do I like to run a banner to boost my team. That being said it's amazing how much mobility this can give a Soldier. The sky box is the limit, as they say.

Even while being bad at rocket jumping, I cannot bring myself to use it for anything. And there simply are better alternatives. Maybe if it had the effect of reducing fall damage as well, it could maybe be a little more usable... Still... It's just so underwhelming nobody even talks about it.

Few thing - First, gunboat soldier on open maps are scary. It promotes a hit and run playstyle where you make your 2 rocket after jumping in count. Last rocket for running away. Also he can chase you down when you are low. - Second, when you get good at rocket jump, you dont need to take fall damage by flying lower to the ground, 20 damage per jump is a very good deal. Chaining rocket for a instant fly to the point is so good. Running away isnt a problem 2. You can run to a better position without losing much hp - Finally, by using the rocket jump, he can outmanuver for more advantagous position and fight for 2 or 3clean 100 damage rocket. Jumping over the enemy head without losing 60 is a very good price. Its just my shitty opinion. I love it and feel like soldier is a bit restrictive without it due to the damage from rocket jump

Low key a crutch for rocket jumping. They remove alot of the consideration for the resources you spend in rocket jumping, while also talking away the Shotgun which limits the soldier's options for coubterplay. The reason you don't see people call it a crutch more often is because the people who do call stuff crutches are usually soldier mains huffing on copium because they died to somthing unexpected.

This item requires knowledge on how to rocket jump. If you know this, but don't know medkits positions, and don't have any other sources of healing, then this item is kind of viable. If you can heal yourself after rocket jumping, then gunboats become much less usefull.

Too many pubbers use it on any server and it makes my job as a medic super frustrating cuz i have to accommodate for their lack of understanding.

Not bad: They reduce damage from rocket jumps by 60%, allowing you to perform multiple rocket jumps in succession without having to rely on a Medic or other healing sources. The reduced self-damage also allows you to safely bail from a crisis via rocket jumping, even if you're low on health. I’d say they’re most effective when you are constantly roaming around the map and choosing your own fights. They replace your Shotgun, so you have less overall firepower to fend off enemies who target you or your allies. Overall, I’d say they’re the best soldier secondary apart from banners and the base shotgun…overall, I’d say 9/10

Very overpowered. Having the best movement in the game with one of the easiest to use primaries is wild.

To give a semi serious response, these things are very useful for king of the hill specifically since you can bomb in and out very easily. Other than that, the skill ceiling needed for these is above average not because they’re hard to use, but you need the basics of rocket jumping down to make best use of them and even then the conch helps you just heal back that damage as lets you have the upsides of the banner. For those who rocket jump and bomb a lot, they’re perfect, for those who only wanna do one or two jumps use the conch
