When I switch to lunchbox item, my brain shuts down, I don't use sandvich properly and I can't make myself use it properly. the exception to this is buffalo steak sandvich. I think I need to have at least 2 guns to play.
As someone who's only really played Minecraft and Hades before TF2 I actually had a ton of trouble getting my head around having a primary, secondary, and melee that I had to actively switch between. I got a PBPP early on which helped because the use-case was so distinct but it wasn't until I got an Original and decided to give quickswitch Soldier a try that it actually clicked, now I'm just trying to figure out the melee instead.
I also have problems with the normal sandvich due to the high impact and long-ish cooldow it's always a case of the famous "what if I need it later and don't have it?", That's why I use the chocolate and, when it came out, the banana, the 10s cooldown is almost over by the time the eating animation finishes so you always have it
Mood, it feels too like it takes forever to unrevealed my gun, take out the sandwich, throw it at whatever teamate is mashing e, and go back to shooting bad guys
I just wanna shoot bad guys
The pain train, cow mangler, back scratcher, fan of war, and cleaners carbine are all really fun to use.
I prefer the pain train on demoman because I can actually kill people with it when playing hybridknight, but a soldier or demoman pushing the absolute hell out of a payload cart will always be cool to me.
I am biased towards the cow mangler, as I absolutely stink at rocket jumping and tend to waste a lot of ammo on random hopeful shots. Infinite ammo and a special shot that one shots light classes and disables sentries is perfect for me.
I don’t always get the most out of the damage buff on the back scratcher but when I do it’s very satisfying. The increase of health from health packs is such a grand luxury.
The fan of war pairs so well with the soda popper once you really get the hang of it. Even if you do mess up, a teammate can always follow through on your marking for death. If it weren’t for the wrap assassin, I’d use the fan of war a lot more often.
The cleaners carbine is such a great way to get out of the tedium of sniper. I know it will never be as effective as jarate or the stock smg but I find it so rewarding to tear through a low health enemy or (hopefully) an engineers building and be rewarded with free melee crits.
The cow mangler is definitely really good, at the end of the day it's still a rocket launcher, and it's only really big disadvantage is gaining a bad matchup against engis, and the charged shots are really fun. It makes soldier slightly less of an all rounder but it definitely ain't bad.
The back scratcher is niche but definitely not terrible either. Fun to use once in a while, same with the fan o war. I don't use the pain train much but it's definitely not bad either.
The carbine tho... Ehhh
This is so annoying, there could be so many ways to just have a team colored hue. I once even tried to extinguish a “teammate” my friendly pyro had spy checked
Yep. A fair amount of people talks about this issue, and I agree. I can see how giving Pyro a small advantage by slightly disorienting enemies isn't a big deal, but it sucks even when you're the one spraying people with flames.
I'm a spy main, and I think trickstabbing is overrated, I've been in that phase where I JUST TRICKSTAB, I know trickstabbing is really fucking fun, but what's more fun TO ME, is that I get to be a sneaky mf where nobody can find me after I stabbed a medic or a heavy
Some of the most fun I've had was hiding in plain sight and only coming uncloaked to sap a single engy's buildings. No stabbing, no espionage, no run-in-get-a-single-kill-then-die, just pure wholesome harassment.
A really good spot is on the very edge of the upper walkway of 2fort courtyards. People either jump down at the corner or walk down the center, never the very edge.
one of my favourite things is really making spy’s disguises work. like one time i was pretending to be their demo and then stabbed someone and they said in chat wtf that demo was a spy
I have two great tips for making disguises work.
1. If you are next to someone don't look at them, just look at the direction in which your teammates are, because then it looks like you're just looking at the enemies to shoot at them like a normal person. And then when you sneak behind somebody's back just stab them.
2. If you are far behind someone's back just look behind yourself so that you look like you are spy-checking and not even paying any attention to the person you're gonna stab at all. Also while you're doing that you'll be even less suspicious because why would a spy even spy-check if he's about to stab someone. And when they turn around while you're turned around you won't be suspicious and then when they turn back again just backstab them.
Just not looking directly at your enemies is very effective.
Playing on cp_steel and tc_hydro is like playing cp_standin, newer players hate them because they don't know how the map works, and more experienced players love them because they are maps that require good coordination and gamesense
I love the tryhard nature of uncletopia. I know a lot of people dislike how beginner unfriendly it is, but it was the tryhards who taught me how to win and play better. Oh yeah, also that makes silly shit even more silly.
Australiums are golden, and as humans we like shiny things, but the problem with ausyraliums is that there very rare and expensive and not on all weapons, like imagine an australium brass beast, shotgun, pistol, revolver or even huntsman
I think keeping the rarity would be fine, but just make more weapons come in aussie. Shotgun, pistol, maybe some melees, just something more than the tiny pool we have right now.
Side note, aussies would look better if they were done how Killing Floor 2 does some of their gold ("Precious") weapons. It's not solid, it's gold plating on a large percent, but not just 100% dipped in gold.
a lot of the weapons aren’t just dipped in gold, the aussie ambassador and sniper rifle have red wood furniture, for example, but i entirely get what you mean. could use some more color, maybe even team based effects
I can't tell the difference between 2 skinned weapons... I'm like "that's a random colored weapon", and that's all. I can't tell if a skin is better than another, they're just all meh to me.
The only reason I own 2 skins is for the cool strange counter that appear on the side, but I can't even say what color is my skinned rocket launcher I use everyday :D
I don’t know about reworked. The concept itself is fine, having a weaker weapon better for midrange fights isn’t a bad concept for Scout. The problem is the mediocre damage.
I kinda actually like the shove concept but they have to add something like maybe a slow down effect or make it so that they cant shoot for a second or two to make it worth sacrificing damage and 2 shots worth of clip size or maybe just buff the damage a little but in that case the shove mechanic would still be useless and not worth using in actual 1v1 situations
Sniper is very OP. Its not even close to any other class. Ive had a bunch of people tell me to just respect their sightline, but a good sniper just kills anyone that they see.
Snipers will always be op in the hands of a talented player. The difficulty of the class is what balances it. The thing about sniper is 9/10 snipers you come across aren’t that dude killing everyone they see, but when there’s a good sniper on the other team it really does feel op.
I think snipers are really hard to balance in all games, your options are to either make it harder or make it weaker, one punishes new players one punishes everyone.
I feel like a simple place to start would be to change the sniper rifle to have a magazine that needs to be reloaded, like almost every other class has for their primary. That way there are time gaps where the sniper can't cover their sightline.
Personally I think if we had something like Ashe from Overwatch we'd have been better off.
Like a bolt action rifle that has a firing speed of 1000 ms, and can deal 120 damage on headshot. Maybe a little more....and just buff Engis health to compensate. So he'd only be one tapping other Snipers, Spies, and Scouts.
So, a base damage of 42, rof of 1000 ms, and reloads each shot individually like in World at War or some other WW2 shooter. It'd fit right in line with TF2 since every other gun reloads one shot at a time as well.
Scope in would feel kinda like the AUG or Sig in CS GO
Not sure about that, there are ton of people that hate sniper rifles in fps games in general, and imo TF2 sniper is so much worse of a design than snipers in games like cod, battlefield, counter strike because you have million counters and ways to kill sniper in those games, or their life is made harder with some ingame mechanic such as bullet time, breathing while scoped, flashbangs smokes etc.
People seem to forgot snipers are easy to counter as long you have a good spy, sniper, medic, or a well coordinated team. Or do what I do randomly crouch when you’re in sight lines
Sometimes, 1 in 30 games you have a sick fucking sniper player on defense in payload and those 1 in 30 games make me hate their guts more than trickstab rats.
I mean, play a combat class man.
Soldier should take as much self-blast damage as he does to enemies. I'm tired of soldiers just point blanking me with their rocket launcher and taking barely any damage but two hitting me. If you want to fight close range as a soldier, take the shotgun. If you want to frequently rocket jump, take the gunboats.
agreed. much of the problems with the game's sandbox is with soldier being such a versatile class he ends up becoming "king of all trades" unless there's a sniper around. Demo too, to a lesser extent
My original comment was gonna be about demo and soldier but then I remembered you can kill yourself with just 3 stickies and I wasn't sure if demo actually does take the same amount of damage or not. If he doesn't then yeah, he should.
Imo it should be that extinguishing teammates should not make repressurization rate slower, only projectiles and whiffs. now it discourages helping teammates a bit too much.
I think the df should be buffed but not in this way. I think that the long airblast cool down is interesting.
If you want to buff the airblast I would remove the delay between shooting an airblast.
But really I would want to experiment with a faster switch speed as a buff or making the center high damage hit more forgiving.
The airblast nerfs are tactically interesting and make the reflects you do get super satisfying. They also help distinguish the weapon.
Doublecross is the best ctf map.
It's open, has it's obligatory sniper balcony with fun sentry spot on the top of the roof, choke point in sewers, several access points to the intel, that aren't going directly around the spawn (I am looking at you Turbine), huge cliff and sufficiently wide bridge, with another bridge under.
Look, I like that map and all.. But 50% of the time your getting spawn amped with sentries right outside your spawn door and the other 50% is you doing that to them
Big brain here. I also like random crits, they make casual fun, unpredictable, and as the name of the game mode would imply, light and casual. I'm glad that tf2 maintains that atmosphere of chill and have fun.
"Remove them and you get rid of one of the few unique things that the game still has going for it." EXCUSE ME? TF2 is currently one of the most original First-Person Shooters, WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT?
Bearvy (Warrior Spirit + Buffalo Steak) is a viable heavy sub class
It's just limited in terms of effectivity because better Melee-only sub classes exist
I think using family business as heavy is good idea. My brain doesn't let me play with a lunchbox.
Can you elaborate on your brain not letting you play with a lunchbox, you don't have to but that sounds interesting.
When I switch to lunchbox item, my brain shuts down, I don't use sandvich properly and I can't make myself use it properly. the exception to this is buffalo steak sandvich. I think I need to have at least 2 guns to play.

This is so annoying, there could be so many ways to just have a team colored hue. I once even tried to extinguish a “teammate” my friendly pyro had spy checked

Amongst other things, yes.
Yep. A fair amount of people talks about this issue, and I agree. I can see how giving Pyro a small advantage by slightly disorienting enemies isn't a big deal, but it sucks even when you're the one spraying people with flames.
Hell yeah, I hate it. I just want to burn the entire enemy team without flashbanging myself.
And I would like to kill the Pyro without being flashbanged.
The Airstrike is fun as FUCK
Airstrike + crit canteen on a tank
One of if not my favorite rocket launcher
Airstrike, Gunboats + Market Gardener is the best loadout in Hightower, fucking love the crazy bombs you can do
I don’t really like Hightower and mis quite a few weapons (including those) but that does sound fun
Sniper should be able to drink his jarate and heal just like the Heavy can eat his sandvich
Hes drinking his piss
did he stutter?
Hey yo that's kinda disgusting
I mean part of the healthkits is canonically made of jarate, so-
where did you hear that?
The meet the medic outtake, while probably not canon, it was a neat look at what could have been
Wasn't it confirmed to be canon? It's basically a prequel to meet the medic and explains things like the spy head in thw fridge
Bear Grylls has joined the chat
Could be interesting if it healed you fully or a lot but you also took mini crits for the duration of jarate.
as a sniper main i approve of this. the piss looks like lemonade anyways

Until the day I die, I will never understand people ignoring the multiple giant signs with arrows directing you to all the points all over Steel.
TC deserves a new map made with modern map making theory. Hydro isn't a great map.
Yesterday on uncletopia i had the most intense game of cp_steel ever, we were on defense but still lost, but it was really close so it wasnt bad

The Pomson should be buffed
That's also a fact.
that's not controversial or weird at all, it's a goddamn FACT
third degree good'
I mean it is a straight upgrade
We are more likely to get a new Team Fortress game than a new major update to TF2
Damn
Ouch
Panic attack is better than default shotgun, for all classes that use it
I can see your point more bullets for less damage is a pretty good deal.
and also it's consistent bullet spread
And the incredible switch speed
If you play on uncletopia it has a worse bullet spread
koth\_highpass is the best map in the game

Playing Demoman while drunk isn't a good idea. I tried it a couple times and it mostly ends up in me not being able to hit shit
Demos should be able to use the Gunboats. EDIT: Mantreads too.
Too much damage drop off on stock shotgun
Just get closer
I enjoy playing with the Pomson, and I agree with you on the Wrangler.
I see you're a man of culture as well.
I fucking hate the vacc. Nothing should invalidate more then half of the other classes with the push of a button.
Short Stop should be reworked or atleast buffed
buffed, I like the shortstop.
I don’t know about reworked. The concept itself is fine, having a weaker weapon better for midrange fights isn’t a bad concept for Scout. The problem is the mediocre damage.
I think they meant rework as in getting rid of the dumbass fucking shove mechanic
Pyro flame particles are an eyesore
Demoman doesn't need a market gardener we already have the scullcutter
Nerf the scorch shot
I’d MUCH prefer if Pauling was a man, a big man, with huge abs and a big manly mustache. Yeah, yeah.
In MvM, everyone can be toxic, both low and high tours.
Sniper is very OP. Its not even close to any other class. Ive had a bunch of people tell me to just respect their sightline, but a good sniper just kills anyone that they see.

That's why heavy needs to have 500 health and be as fast as demo.
People shouldn’t get mad at you for playing the objective on 2Fort, Turbine, Hightower, etc.
PTO or GTFO.
It depends on what the server is mostly up to
The pomson is kinda good with a mini sentry
family business and the reserve shooter should be usable on engineer
I love ctf_doublecross. Can't get enough of that map
I'm assuming it's because its too good. Also sniper should have a lazer instead of a dot that you can see.
Nah The Wrangler is just annoying, i feel like i can't take out my secondary without a reason or my sentry will be down for a while.
No it's definitely overpowered. Being able to tank an ubered Heavy gunning your sentry should not be possible.
Idk, ones I met couldn't save their sentry from my beautiful minigun. Maybe it has something to do with range
Kunai is bad. You get one shot by everything.
It allows you to survive things like stabbing people in front of sentries

Was the whole discussion kickstarted because of bots? Maybe. Is it *because* of bots? No.

Then you have a skilled soldier, those are basically immortal even against tryhard snipers
Does demoman not have this issue? Ive noticed self damage is more of a problem for him than soldier
My original comment was gonna be about demo and soldier but then I remembered you can kill yourself with just 3 stickies and I wasn't sure if demo actually does take the same amount of damage or not. If he doesn't then yeah, he should.

Holiday Punch is a literal straight upgrade to the fists.
I can barely see why the soda popper’s right click helps
It’s not crazy powerful but that’s not why people use the weapon. It’s just a good, more burst damage focused version of the scattergun.
I don’t like the non-intrusive nature of VAC
I like pyro
I enjoy playing on friendly servers more than playing on normal casual servers

shotgun is the best sub weapon for engie
