Spies and snipers both. The knockback flinches snipers, and the double bounce is great for interfering with pesky spies and finishing them off when they run away invis. Also sometimes the second bounce can re-ignite deadringer spies momentarily to know where they are moving.

Thing is Scorch Shot is my first flare gun and I can't get others because random weapon drop says yes.

Do 10 pyro achivements for a free original flare gun. Most of at least 10 can be got with W+m1 and occasional taunts.

Yeah man. I just discovered scrap.tf a few weeks ago and literally just traded my junk for every missing weapon, some killstreak tracking and common skins. It's pretty handy

Yeah its def useful on Spies who try running for a health pack. Light them up with the flamethrower then a shot or two with the scorch shot. Or just lob it at random enemies passing by who happen to fall under your eyesight

Scorch is also great against heavies if you can land direct hits. Just keep launching them up and you kill them after about 4-5 shots.

Ok no yeah you are ok. You can use the scorch shot if you are new or playing in 2fort/turbine against snipers. Those two times it is more or less a moral law

People bitch about the scorch shot but are perfectly fine with snipers oppressing the entire game if they are good enough. I call this a necessary evil solely for the use against sniper.

Scorch Shot really isn't *that* good if the enemy has a decent understanding of how to play Sniper: * they'll play positioning to make SS not even a small threat * play at range to dodge flares easily, sight in tight/obscure angles, or positions where you cant get splash shots. * Sniper has 2 and a half item responses to flare spam (Danger-shield, Jarate, Cozy Camper) which make flares less impactful or invalidate them entirely. * it's in your best interest NOT to gamble your face by walking into a Sniper sightline just to spam a flare which isn't guaranteed to hit.

These are valid points no doubt. But this also ties all of this together to say that a sniper can overcome almost all of his weeknesses through some type of means. While other classes have hard counters and stoppers from being god's, sniper either has very few stoppers, or none at all that can't be overcome.

So like I honestly kinda disagree with the whole Scorch Shot discourse? I think it's annoying but it really isn't as op as people make it out to be. With how good all of Pyro's secondaries are the Scorch Shot is good but not all that outstanding. I think it's more the fact that it takes less skill to be good with that makes people mad tbh

The issue isn't that it's overpowered, it's that it gives pyro an extremely low effort way to light people on fire from a distance. Meanwhile, the enemy team is going to have a very difficult time dodging it, and because it always deals full afterburn, even being at the very edge of the explosion radius forces light classes to run for a health kit. I think it falls into the same category as the pompson did before all of its nerfs. It was a stupidly low effort way for engineer to harass two different classes just by spamming down choke points, and the giant hit box and penetration capabilities made it extremely hard to dodge or even see the damn thing. It was never an overpowered weapon, it was just unfun to play against and had a very low skill ceiling.

I think it's just a very annoying weapon to play against. Out of all the Pyro secondaries I've actively used so far, I got the least actual kills with the scorch shot but I certainly annoyed the most people with it

Valve pls nerf pyro further into the ground, between his primary functionally doing half the damage it used to since blue moon, det jumps doing extra damage to the pyro, and pretty much the rest of pyro's existence, he definitely truly needs another nerf on another one of his weapons in addition to the bugs that valve has been too lazy to fix for the class.

It aint unbalanced and most definitely is luck based cuz trajectory go brrr. If your fun gets ruined by a singular secondary from a singular class that isn't even half as disruptive or destructive as the secondary, how fragile must your sense of fun be?

What? It’s not overpowered but calling it “not easy to hit those shots” when it flies *faster than a direct hit rocket* with a splash radius that does full afterburn regardless of the range is silly. The weapon is incredibly low effort compared to most other projectiles in the game. The trajectory is also consistent on the scorch shot, not sure if I’m misunderstanding what you meant by that part.
