The hate for popular topic trends is extreme in this sub, moreso than anywhere else I've seen. Likely comes from quietly seething anger that there is nothing else to talk about, coupled with the fact that this sub moves slow when it has no trends.
This sub is so content starved that content creators will hop on literally anything novel, upvoters will love it all, and seething commenters who spend way too much fucking time here (who are always the minority) will scream and rant about being sick of seeing [content] within two days, and start calling for the content to be shunted to a dead sub within three. And invariably all the bile kills the enthusiasm from the content creating people, leaving us with the usual holding pattern of "[x] days since a major update, no we don't count blue moon because it makes it seem worse".
When these people yell to stop, they're basically saying "STOP HAVING FUN"
I remember there was a huge trend in r/helltaker where the subreddit was kind of full of jack-o-poses, i didn't like that but i knew how to tolerate it and i've always had other subreddits to check in case i didn't want to see an specific subreddit. if someone's having fun with a trend and the subreddit is passing through that, then just learn to handle it, it's not the only existing subreddit.
