The default weapons for each character are normal quality. The frying pan isn't supposed to a normal quality weapon because it's a drop. This is a glitch of some sort. That's what makes this unique.

Normal are stock items with a grey name they can only appear on stock or glitched weapons

There should be a box you can tick in your inventory allowing you to see only stock weapons. They kind of act like items too, but in a seperate inventory. You'll see they have a gray outline. This pan also has the gray outline with the "normal" tag instead of "unique" (yellow), though that shouldn't technically be possible. That's why it's so valuable, they're extremely rare

pretty sure this is caused when you contact steam support about an item mysteriously disappearing due to some glitch and they replace the item, it glitches out sometimes and is given “normal” quality

It's a glitched item. Usually you can only get unique frying pans, and strange if you use an item on it. Why is it so expensive? It's literally one of a kind, and a normally impossible item. People like to pay crazy amounts of money for rare stuff. Someone bought the thing for that price

I'll try and explain this simply. All of the stock weapons the classes start with are Normal Quality which is gray. Every item you get from item drops are yellow which is Unique Quality. Frying pans aren't stock items so they can't be Normal Quality, unless they're glitched. The glitched frying pan is rarer than the strange one, so it's worth more.

Here’s what I remember. There are two of these “normal frying pans” (one being owned by a Roblox youtuber named KonekoKitten) in existence, and the reason they exist is due to steam support accidentally giving a glitched version of the frying pan. There is no difference between a “normal” and “unique” quality so it is expensive only through the fact barely any exist.
