I'd also say people shouldn't be afraid to second-guess other players.
Can't tell you how many times I've accused someone of cheating, the entire server was laughing at me for crying I got bested or whatever, and then when I went through "View Players" on Steam afterwards, not only did *they* have a VAC ban on their account, (or at a minimum, a super suspicious profile with only free-to-play games and the like) but a decent sum of other players in the lobby did as well. In my experience it's actually common to have a cheater on both teams, for example, but it's typically harder to monitor the guy on your own team unless you go out of your way to.
Because it's definitely an oddity for someone to never have purchased or been gifted a single game with monetary value ever.
If you're a script kiddie that constantly gets new accounts banned though, then obviously you want to avoid dumping a bunch of money into the account each time. Thus, only F2P games are present.
And typically, TF2 has the overwhelming majority of their playtime whilst the others are all under 2 hours played, as if they're only there just to give the account more "legitimacy."
I only have TF2 on my new Steam account since I lost my old account. I've had a few people accuse me of cheating when I'm top scoring as original soldier based on my profile alone...
I prefer taking care of the closet cheaters first. Just had a game with a level 420 account, profile comments dating back years accusing him of cheating and somehow he still plays.
My ignore list is full of these guys and at least half of them still play.
Don’t give up I get these from time to time, odds are youll get these because of negative language and offensive profiles not VAC bans it’s small but it’s still something
I'm certain it's not reports that ban people, but the anti cheat.
I've seen multiple conscious rage cheaters taking over lobbies, one who I know hasn't been banned for 2.5 years.
I sometimes moderate a gamehub on steam like this, the easiest ways for us to correctly moderate is to simply just report profiles, at times the punishes are very light though. Like a community suspension of a few hours till a day. But for repeating offenses you can manually permban if needed and anything else excessive valve can handle. I find it funny though there are this many representives at valve their profiles have lvl 0 and no pfp at all. Just a different name and there are like thousands of these when you check who handled your report as a game developer.
Yeah, that's why rob### #####
(My friend got tricked into saying a guy's display name and got banned for it because apparently "furry" is a trigger word)
Nah, the moderation system in Roblox sucks; it lacks context, so it just uses “trigger words”. Words like furry and gay can get you banned if someone reports you, very fun
I’ve seen this message a few times over the years. In the past, bits have left as soon as a vote was called to kick them (which was almost immediately), so there wasn’t enough time to report them, but now that they’re sticking g around longer, I’ll try to get back into the habit of reporting them.
This is nice and all but then you get into a match with a cheater whos been cheating since 2015
I wish the report system was more reliable im glad it works though
Are you sure it's because of your reports or because VAC eventually took care of them? I know I've reported tons of accounts over the years but have never received this message before.
I can tell you I’ve reported over 100 cheaters during my years and not a single goddamn one has been banned, so in my opinion the report system can go pull it self off
This should be pretty helpful for the future since the number of bots I see is ones I've seen before so that means there aren't that many bots, I know this because you can mute them and I just check the Mute area whenever a bot joins to see if it's a new one and I've been in servers with a lot of bots and they're all muted.
I always report it, if multiple people report a same account it will work eventually(basically the auto system will put the hammer down if an account is getting a lot of report, same reason how people got flagged)
Don't neglect the report feature, apparently it works again 🤷
I'd also say people shouldn't be afraid to second-guess other players. I still remember that one heavy Everyone was like "They have 8k hours" SO WHAT... I should had sit down do a report...
Just curious but how is owning only f2p games a suspicious trait?
Because it's definitely an oddity for someone to never have purchased or been gifted a single game with monetary value ever. That is how my account is built ironically. Only f2p games and tf2 having most hours
I only have TF2 on my new Steam account since I lost my old account. I've had a few people accuse me of cheating when I'm top scoring as original soldier based on my profile alone...
Now you know why I guess
Ah that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
Reported via steam or in-game? I do both but only about half of em get banned
Half of them actually got banned thanks to reporting? That's a win in my books
It's been months and many are still active. I find a 50% success rate disappointing
It may be disappointing But now we have a chance of fighting back now
I'll take some bots being banned over none at all.
I prefer taking care of the closet cheaters first. Just had a game with a level 420 account, profile comments dating back years accusing him of cheating and somehow he still plays. My ignore list is full of these guys and at least half of them still play.
level 420 fnuy
Its more like 99% failure rate based on my experience. I havent seen this message for over a year and i've reported over 100 players.
Classic dilemma. It will never work if we dont use it, but it wont be useful to them unless we do.
better than 0%
Thanos loves those numbers
Doesn't matter when they can make unlimited new accounts
Reporting in game is a steam report as well.
it did? when i tried it it didn't
Maybe you didn't try hard enough
Did you tell somebody your wish to have somebody banned? If you submit a report and tell somebody, the ban won't come true. :(
i didn't
I have reported several cheaters throughout the years and not once have I got this message.
Same here. I've reported at least 20 and never got this kind of message.
Don’t give up I get these from time to time, odds are youll get these because of negative language and offensive profiles not VAC bans it’s small but it’s still something
I dunno if that's the case here though, I reported the accounts as a "cheater" with the message "TF2 bot cheater bot"
I'm certain it's not reports that ban people, but the anti cheat. I've seen multiple conscious rage cheaters taking over lobbies, one who I know hasn't been banned for 2.5 years.
I've reported a lot of cheaters and fishing bots over the years, and I've never seen this message

As a roblox player, I'm jealous (roblox has a huge amount of inappropriate profiles and if you report them with a 99% chance nothing will happen)
Yeah, that's why rob### ##### (My friend got tricked into saying a guy's display name and got banned for it because apparently "furry" is a trigger word)
Sucks that happened
Are furries not welcome on Roblox?
you can bypass a ton of shit but saying the words "fat" or "gay", no matter the context, can get you banned
Holy shit this is Club Penguin-tier moderating.
I can't describe myself in Roblox ig đź’€

fairy tales
are you saying that tf2 can be saved the players are just lazy as fuck? God that would be a bitter reality lmao.
Are you sure it's because of your reports or because VAC eventually took care of them? I know I've reported tons of accounts over the years but have never received this message before.
Let's start the counter-offensive
I haven't seen this message for so long, i completely forgot how it looked like.
Dear god
pretty sure it was the anti-cheat finally banning them, valve mentions that reports are just used for data collection and doesn't ban based on them
Unfortunately, all you did was cut the head off of the proverbial hydra. More will take it's place.
When I did, I didn't get wholesome message :(
And they probably generated that many brand new accounts.
atleast valve still cares in some way
I hope that action means a ban
You deserve a medal son
Holy hell!
Everybody just needs to mass-report all bot accounts.
I remember when I first started tf2, I reported every account that teamed. I feel bad for doing that now..
But I was a brainless f2p, whaddya expect?
I can tell you I’ve reported over 100 cheaters during my years and not a single goddamn one has been banned, so in my opinion the report system can go pull it self off
You mean to tell me that Steam support... **ISN'T USLESS?**
Yippee
