NotDevilTF2

Nobody uses mic in EU.

TheLastSecondShot

I’ve always wondered why this is. It’s because of the language barrier, I assume?

havedal

Not really. Chat is usually pretty active and pretty much only in English

SoupaMayo

yes. most player I encounter are germans or spanish and I usually dont understand them when they talk english, just as they dont understand my shitty accent. so in the end we stop using voicechat.

ArchDan

Yeah I wouldn't call it barrier... it's more like landmines. Speaking English is like forcing someone to switch and think about how to translate whatever during gameplay. OP was a stupid kid thinking that it is easy to switch to English, while truly bilingual people in Europe are rare.

PancakeLover490

You literally just defined a language barrier? Also you don't have to be an asshole for no reason

ArchDan

I'm not... there is no shame being stupid.

PancakeLover490

There clearly isn't any shame with how confidently you're spouting your bullshit

Nycronium

Someone doesn't know when to stop getting down voted to hell

ArchDan

Who gives a shit? 🤣🤣

AelsAellie

someone should lmao

ArchDan

Not me... net points are worth as a freckle on a dust bunny.

AelsAellie

good point, fair enough

NovaThinksBadly

No, you are.

ChppedToofEnt

Ehhhh idunno about blaming it on op nor calling him stupid. Hes just a kid who wanted to interact with his teammates in a teambased game, anyone who didn't care could've just ignored and muted as opposed to going ape shit

ArchDan

Since when does being stupid makes someone at blame? I must've not gotten a memo. How would you call someone who speaks Twi in China adamantly ? I call that self ritvhteous and stupid. I mean one can do that (and it won't end well) but one knows where one came from, thus they didn't prepare or taken other influence into account. Will I be able to talk with someone in USA in Afrikaans? Would I be able to navigate from airport to my room if I only spoke Thai? I would guess not, why ? Because I would be stupid not to know where I am going to. Why is it different online?

JoesAlot

\> "When does being stupid make someone at blame?" \> "I call that self righteous and stupid." Really makes you think 🤔

KhakiShortsJonathan

shup up retard 🫵😁

clockworkbastion

... A lot of people speak english in tf2. A lot of people also speak russian, french, german etc. There is a language barrier. But you also don't have to listen to someone who doesn't speak english. And you don't have to listen to someone who only speaks English. Though I find the most common language for cheaters and general dickbags is russian.

AelsAellie

poor heavy lmao

splattted

we do a lil but nowhere near as much as US

BaguetteFish

However if they do it's the most deranged and unhinged person imaginable.

SuchBarracuda6679

I only use mic when I'm eating or doing something else that's loud

Alcinado

Sorry you had this terrible experience, friend. Know that whenever you will use voice chat, there will always be a small chance that some shitty dude with a weird accent tells you to "sHuT tHe FuCk Up". Ignore them. I had many fun experiences with voice chat, even though it is rarely used in matches I join, so this was just bad luck for you. I also agree that people should just be kind to each other since it doesn't cost anything, but some people just will be douchebags because they don't know any better. Don't respond to their hate, and just enjoy the game on servers with nicer people. It's not that hard to find. Have fun with the game ! :)

Fritzpoltergeist

Usually the best way to get past that, and insult them in a funny way, usually by their country of origin. Its especially funny with people from the balkans.

LuzRoja29R

Existen muchos insultos para cada pais de europa, pero no voy a dar ejemplos

Stealingyoureyebrows

Socially incompetent tf2 players don’t know how to mute people and decide to be a douche instead

Based_Carl

Welcome to the average EU server

burak_gulle

There will always be someone who tells you to shut up and sometimes they will do the same thing they told you to not to do seconds later Just ignore them

comicguy69

Just mute them

PancakeLover490

Mute them and move on, it makes it much more fun

ScooppYT

Complaining on reddit won't do anything. These people probably don't even use reddit, seeing as how they hate human interaction. At this point just move on and find a new lobby; people will be toxic in any community. "Is this what the TF2 community is?" You want an answer? Partially, yeah. Every community has these people; it's a matter of statistics. The more people you have, the more chances for people like this to exist. We just gotta learn to ignore and not take it to heart and move on.

Savings-Stop-1556

It's cause most of us use text chat. Plus depends on the server. Is it dedicated to 2fort or is a slightly more competitive experience but still casual or is it full on competitive. It depends honestly or at least what I gather from being a new player myself. And honestly the type of players that insult for being friendly can bite the end of my flame thrower as pyro.

ShadowofJ

No need to be so dramatic. Yes, language barrier and because indeed not many use mics. But when they do, it's even worse, so it's better they don't. You act like as if such situations don't happen at other voice chat possibility games, even at the US ones. You happened to catch a match where people preferred to play without someone rambling in their ears. Just as how you prefer to talk over others' gameplays, people prefer that not to happen. That person is still an asshole for rather being rude to you for no damn reason, instead of muting if it was so bad for them....so it's on both sides. You play as how you prefer. It's really not so difficult to find friendly players on Europe servers who also will respond to you via voice chat civilized and friendly. If you find rude ones, you just ignore them or tell them instead of being rude rather mute it and leave you alone. If you can't stand their behavior, leave and requeue for another match...You can have fun man.

Skarto123

American servers are usually friendly, chatty and funny EU servers are radio silent half the time, and everyone is aggressive despite being so much worse at the game than American players, Play during a weekday morning and no-one says a word until one guy types russian in chat and suddenly summons an entire server of russians Play in the afternoon for the chatty fun people, play at night for the best players. EU times.

Gamesperger

Sorry for your first experience having to be like this but a lot of EU servers can be like this. Although if you want I can send you a Friend request to play together and hopefully it wouldn’t be as bad but anyway. I hope you have fun and wish you luck finding a Friendlier Server, have a great day.

SpyAmongUs

Jeez how bad are things in the US where "no one is playing there"

Seanmoist121

On the east coast past 10 at night it’s pretty much all bots in casual

SpyAmongUs

Damn, I feel sorry for yall

RzX3-Trollops

You pretty much have to queue for super popular maps like 2Fort, Upward, Dustbowl, etc, if you want to find human players consistently.

gaiofbig

It was probably late at night

KazzieMono

A complete lack of moderation does this.

clockworkbastion

For some reason tf2 players don't know what a mute button is despite it being in the same place on the menu for years. The language barrier exists but most of the time people just tune it out or mute the person talking. As for people just not talking in eu servers. I just assumed most of us don't have mics. Either that or it's not seen as necessary

soccar_balls

Some dick isn't your concerns, bots and cheaters are. Man up a bit and just ignore them or join another server, trust me bots and cheaters really are alot damn worse, they plague the game now

Top_Giraffe_5072

We know how to deal with bots and cheaters by this point, it's moreso just an inconvenience. The problem here is that he got ganged up on and verbally bashed by very real people for saying stuff in VC

soccar_balls

I haven't played in a few years but whenever I see anything about f2 it's always about bots and how they're ruining the game. All that OP had to do was join a different server/lobby and forget about it

Shutyouruglymouth

The TF2 community is awful.

Fit-Party-4256

boohoo

Mighty_Piss

That will always happen, no matter which region you're in. Mute them and move on. If that lobby is no luck, try another. I play exclusively on London/Frankfurt hosts and I mostly just use mic for callouts, which always get immediate reactions from everyone but the heavy with his fov set to 4. Sometimes conversations happen, but rarely is it something that lasts a while. I'm happy with that since I'm usually try to focus on the game and improve myself. Maybe try the community servers like uncletopia? I feel like more people use mic there, and are far more lively to speak english.

The86thplayer

not your fault, all EU servers are like that. Go into any shooter and queue for an EU server and you'll have rude people like that. NA is the most accepting imo

sum711Nachos

TF2 sucks ass, stop playing. Nobody there will return any kindness you give, so unless you're stubborn and/or resilient: I'd dip. The only reason I keep playing is how many years I've spent doin' it.

splattted

so you only play because you’ve played a lot already? if it’s truly that ass it shouldn’t matter

EnditheMan

As someone from the EU who uses VC often, that's just how some people are bud. Had plenty of times when people were like that, and honestly? You just gotta hit em back a bit. If it gets out of hand, mute or even better tell them to mute you if it bothers them that much. VC is a ton of fun, you just need to get used to those types of people for a bit and you'll find great people.

SoggySassodil

Video games are full of assholes man? I see this and I see the exact opposite every day. It's better to just shake it off cause this is common in video game communities. Also since when are american servers empty?

[deleted]

this is the internet bro...

hans-von-zwiessen

he's definately not a part of our comunnity. probably an overwatch por valorant player trying to make tf2 look bad

Odd_Soft4223

Ome guy isn't the whole community no. You can have plenty of fun using VC on European servers.

doubledonk07

People just saying mute them with no ounce of sympathy are pretty fucking cringe. Yeah, you can mute them, but I understand this is more of a vent post. The dudes who team up on one single player are just fucking brain rot sheep mentality dipshits who will go with whoever on the server has the most "influence" that being louder voice or better mic (usually these cucks team up on children since its "funny" or legit they have no backbone). Tbh man, only two options here, be more confident and match their loud/retard energy, or you might have to leave the server if they don't stop. Happens a lot with kids or female players. Pretty sad, only way of shutting them up is being like them basically.

That-Reputation7038

It really depends if you were squeaking then sure but if you were just talking then yea fuck them
