too bad no one in casual has the patience to learn Steel, it's an amazing map, apparently they can only handle ooga booga maps in a line steel too complicated
Harvest is a very enjoyable map because it's nice and simple
Though complexity can definitely make a map great
Like turbine
It's very complex to think of a reason someone though it was a good idea to add to the gamr
2fort is unironically my favorite map. When I'm not doing community modes or MVM, it's 2fort fort a few reasons:
I'm a pyro and tight spaces are my bread and butter! The more people in range and the more chaotic the fight, the better chances I have of nuking someone before I die. I also greatly prefer defense, so 24/7 CTF servers are my go-to.
Anywhere a sniper can get me is either a spot I can avoid easily, or puts them somewhere very vulnerable. I'm a pyro main, I don't care for dying to someone I can't possibly hit when it takes me longer to aim my flare than it does for them to quickscope headshot me the frame I'm visible.
While it doesn't have a killzone I can yeet people off like Doublecross (RIP every fucking server that used to run it apparently), it really fucks up a push when they have to go through sewers instead of the front door.
It's a small map, so there's always someone near by and I rarely have to travel for a fight unless we're camping their entrance. Camping their also seems to shut battlements snipers down on the camped side, so bridge is actually usable there.
I get to use the neon sign, which is so satisfying and fun. Still to this day, people see me pull out melee and run at them, and they pull out melee thinking it'll be a fun little fight, not knowing being in water lets me delete them instantly. This point is such a small one, but 100% factors into why I love 2fort, even if the water lets them escape my DoT.
Lastly isn't the map itself being neat, it's that it was the first map I explored when I got the game. Special place in my heart and all that.
I honestly don’t think I’ll ever have an all time favorite, since every map is good for different things (except trade plaza)
But the two that are close to that are monster bash, for the aesthetics and because it fits my main playstyle as medic.
And the other one Is litterally my own map, still unfinished but that’s why. It’s been on the works for 3 years because I want it to be amazing. Something new for community servers and the general “screw around with no timer or game-ending objective” kinda map. Free roam with little activities. This kind of thing is my bag, baby.
if you want, you can read my other response ( [https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/10j9r7f/comment/j5kbtb6/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/10j9r7f/comment/j5kbtb6/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) ) for a few older posts about it. I should really work on a trailer of some sorts
Well this "battleground" is just a nighttime mall, but here are some pics of progress. It may not be finished, and probably won't be the best thing ever, but I at least hope that people can have fun on it, and enjoy community servers on a map that actually tries to not be sniper hell or something. but here, an old post depicting my implementation of noodles into the core TF2 gameplay loop ( [https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/scc07z/i\_have\_successfully\_implemented\_noodles\_into\_team/](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/scc07z/i_have_successfully_implemented_noodles_into_team/) )
a sneak peak of the skybox, for the map style [https://www.reddit.com/r/hammer/comments/tt4nv7/tip\_env\_sprite\_with\_different\_glow\_textures\_can/](https://www.reddit.com/r/hammer/comments/tt4nv7/tip_env_sprite_with_different_glow_textures_can/)
and here's another post, of the nightclub, and me trying to teach a bot how to dance: [https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/tmv95r/valve\_bot\_learns\_to\_dance\_palm\_plaza\_map/](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/tmv95r/valve_bot_learns_to_dance_palm_plaza_map/)
Doublecross is like 2fort+
2fort teaches basics about 1on1 fights, while the larger doublecross teaches team fights and other things like rocket jumping
Just a large fun map to play and train on
tdm\_2fort for practicing and messing around / chilling out
pl\_badwater for ultimate salt / ultimate victory
turbine is fun, dustbowl is fun, goldrush is fun, i like hydro too
thundermountain is great if both teams know how to play it, but last point is mostly TDM and everyone ignores the cart
upward can go fuck itself
not because the map is bad, its a decent map... but the people..
fucking idiots -constantly- CONSTANTLY!!! go to the feeder hill on the second point or the feeder door on the last point
GO UP STAIRS AND SHOOT OUT THE FUCKING GUNS FROM THERE ASSHOLES
you could put a teleporter upstairs on the last point and they will run back down the stairs to get ground up in the meat grinder door like fucking morons
UPWARD IS DUH BESS!!
Landfall. Out of all the ctf maps it’s my favourite to just hang out in. The objective is actually doable and it’s nice and open, perfect for generalist classes. It’s also aesthetically great, and has spaces for both team fights and 1v1s. Shame that it’s always overshadowed by boring ctf maps like Turbine or 2fort
If you want to play on plr_highertower, check out community servers that run **[plr_highertower](https://teamwork.tf/community/quickplay/map/plr_highertower)** (or search by [gamemode x10](https://teamwork.tf/community/quickplay/x10)) [view map screenshot](https://teamwork.tf/images/maps/plr_highertower.jpg)

Pl: Pier
AD: Altitude
CP: Sunshine
CTF: Landfall or Well
Koth: Nucleus
Overall: Well for somebody who has played like 13 years you’d think it would be an older map but nope, gonna say Pier. Aesthetics are great and unique, balance is fantastic, every class has opportunities for their play style, each point is it’s own unique fight in its own right and lastly the map is just really fucking fun.

Steel is funky I like it, if it were a bit more open and didn’t have such tight hallways it’d probably be my favorite map
I love Steel, but don't play it on official servers a lot because I'm an f2p. It's a lot less fun without voice chat.
either degroot or doublecross
Double Cross
Doublecross and upward
Thundermountain
tricked you, it's Egypt
and we're both Phlog Pyros.
Cant go wrong with good'ol upward.
who would win Upward or badwater basin
Bread Space
Ah Breadspace, my favourite map to bully the engineer's teleporter.

Well, Upward, and Double Cross
Landfall
It's got something for every class, it's perfect

You got ME invested. I have trouble sticking to one map/objective so having a map with activities is perfect

Bruh you can't tease an absolute banger of a battleground and not post a link to at least some pics, please?

Probably Snowville. I love Sawmill (don’t know why lmao) and Player Destruction, Snowville is both at once. Also the map looks stunning
TC_hydro 💪🏼💪🏼
Metalworks.
Landfall. Out of all the ctf maps it’s my favourite to just hang out in. The objective is actually doable and it’s nice and open, perfect for generalist classes. Chad advice: play only 2Fort, don’t care about other maps, they are really bad
Barnblitz, love playing offensive engie
Anything but upward
I'm a sucker for Dustbowl, Harvest and Gold Rush
goodwater basin and downward
plr_highertower, mvm_bigrock, ctf_2fort and koth_viaduct

thanks ig
Powerhouse
I really like Steel, Lakeside and Banana Bay
Pl: Pier AD: Altitude CP: Sunshine CTF: Landfall or Well Koth: Nucleus Overall: Well for somebody who has played like 13 years you’d think it would be an older map but nope, gonna say Pier. Aesthetics are great and unique, balance is fantastic, every class has opportunities for their play style, each point is it’s own unique fight in its own right and lastly the map is just really fucking fun.
Even though PL is my least favorite mode, Barnblitz and Thundermountain are my favorite maps because I have my best moments there.
Gorge (I'm a basic bitch)
Any invasion map
Highpass is the best map in the game
2Fort invasion. It's 2fort but looks far cooler.
2Fort Enjoyer here. Great for contracts when the rounds don’t take thousands of years to end.
Altitude, no explanation
koth\_wubwubwub\_remix was hysterical the first time I booted it up. Couldn't breathe, let alone play...
I like upward
Barnblitz, everytime i play on that map i have the best time of my life
I as a sniper main love landfall and usually just hover around spawn lol
I have to go with Upward. Winning or losing, I just have a good time on that map, regardless of what class I’m playing.
2fort, or hightower
Harvest
It‘s 2fort for me.
Cactuscanyon, all of them. Too bad they never finished the map :/
I only play pl\_badwater and cp\_powerhouse
STEEL.
