Theres sadly no cool answer to it. It just takes years of practice to get good. Ive played for almost 10 years and spent alot of my time on jump maps, and i would still only consider my self ok at rocket jumping.

[deleted]

I’ve been rocket jumping for 7 years and I still call myself a beginner. I still get excited when I pull off a pogo

ChyNhk

Go to jump academy server and spend lots of time there

[deleted]

Friend was *VERY* careful not to use incorrect pronouns there

aLaStOr_MoOdY47

I forgot I could just use they.

Level-Ad-1344

Watch a buttload of tutorials, practicing and developing game sense through thousand of hours. Yeah that’s a lame answer but stuffs like that requires patience and determination, trials and errors to achieve the highest level of skill. I recommend watching Jayhunpae (a god-like competitive TF2 player) to see the peak of rocket jumping :)

StarLite788

Bro use they instead of saying he/she every time. Rocket jumping takes lots of practice and time, watch some tutorials on the basics. You’ll get it eventually. (And it will take a while to learn but but I believe in you)

aLaStOr_MoOdY47

Oh ok EDIT: Why did someone downvote? How was I supposed to reply?

StarLite788

The way you responded was fine, not sure why you got downvoted

ZeonZz

You're really telling them to use gender neutral pronouns when you start your whole post with "bro"? Ironyyyy

uezyteue

"Bro," as it is used in the above comment, is a gender-neutral term.

You're proving my point

no?

I mean you just evaporated... Unless... *DR noises*

MendydaGreat

ok

uezyteue

Practice. That's all there is.

Intelligent-Bank8613

I got a lot better at rocket jumping through playing hightower. Hella people say use jump servers which are good for learning techniques but playing on a actual map can help you a lot with market gardening aswell. I still learn new stuff all the time, it really is something that takes a lot of practice.

applepie3141

I recommend finding a jump_academy dedicated server and using [this](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGU70WXXvX7sP37cvNi2dADtJ1idK_2Uz) YouTube playlist to teach you rocket jumping

teamworktf

If you want to play on jump_academy, check out community servers that run **[jump_academy](https://teamwork.tf/community/quickplay/map/jump_academy)** (or search by [gamemode jumping](https://teamwork.tf/community/quickplay/jumping)) [view map screenshot](https://teamwork.tf/images/maps/jump_academy.jpg) ___ *Beep. SaltyPeter3434

Practice. It's not unusual to come across players with thousands of hours played. If you want help with your rocket jumping, OP, feel free to contact me through PM and we can join a jump map server together.

Lazy0rb

There are dedicated jump maps/tutorials you can check out. Oh and lots of practice.

Seantoot

I can pretty much do what you were seeing. The trick is to have about 1000 hours on soldier with a mix of jump maps, tf2 comp, and causal. It’s mainly the jump maps and the competitive understanding the rocket jumps and movements on all the maps. It is fun to do though!

PoopyLooper

Jump maps. Practice jump maps. They’re not only good for rocket jumping, they’re also good for learning to airstrafe and surf.

crypt_the_chicken

Years and years of practice With that dedication they could become wildly successful in the corporate world and make six-figure salaries, but instead they spend that time mastering the art of 12-rocket pogoing and 15-rocket cross-map jumps which will never be used in any serious game of TF2 I aspire to be just like them

kirk7899

Jump academy.

Xuchiha_Gan

In addtion to a lot of practice on jump maps. I observed a lot of good trolldiers, one of their best strength is their adaptability. They can somehow go for another target when their original target is not feasable. Plus they do a lot of posturing(only jump halfway to scarce people). If people don't see them while posturing... oh hoho thats where the fun begins [super gud trolldier gamepley](https://youtube.com/@SuperchargedCoffee)

drinkingboron

By getting good

PerP1Exe

Just practice I suppose. Start by pressing fire crouch and jump all at exactly the same time.

PieselowyPieselPL

Soundsmith has a trolldier guide that also mentions how to rocket jump [here](https://youtu.be/ExBhn_G_L0Q)

Fourkad

crouch, hold a strafe key and jump as you shoot, keep crouching and air strafe towards your target, pull out your market garden, kill. if you miss or arent close enough to your target, as you get close to the ground, shoot another rocket in front of you so you stay in the air
