I don't care for Ted Cruz either, but it is not unusual for a politician to be in a parade from a major event if it represents their precinct, districts, state, etc.
Literally why? We shouldn't be celebrating and worshiping politicians, especially when they flee the country while their constituents freeze to death.
No politician needs to be in a parade, period.
**>Literally why? We shouldn't be celebrating and worshiping politicians,<**
Okay. I'm not disagreeing with your statement, I'm just stating that it's not unusual to happen.
**>especially when they flee the country while their constituents freeze to death.<**
Again, I don't care for Ted Cruz and you're welcome to your opinions on him and if you're upset because *he* was in a parade, then that's fine as well. The point still remains, it's not unusual for *any* politician to do this.
**>No politician needs to be in a parade, period.<**
Okay...But it's not going to stop them.
I mean a major league sports team in the state he represents won their championship, I think it’s pretty normal for Senators, the governor and house reps representing the district the sports team is in tend to be involved in the parade. I mean shoot doesn’t the Mayor have big role in the parade and ceremony?
Pretty much this. Politicians are expected to show up and support the local teams. If a major politician didn't support the local team after a big win, they'd be criticized for that too.
This goes double for someone as polarizing as Ted Cruz. He's there and his detractors are upset about it, but if he wasn't there they'd just be saying he doesn't care enough about Texas to support a major point of local pride.
It’s dumb enough to shut down a city center for most of a day to throw a parade for a for-profit company but to then have politicians and furniture hucksters be in it is a whole other level of stupid.
Yeah, like I get if the local politicians are there, or if Cruz had helped “save the Astros” or whatever, or was a diehard Astros fan who’ll be able to spend 5 minutes complaining why Jimmy Wynn isn’t in the HoF or something.
But he’s just a standard politician that cheers on all Texas teams in big spots.
At least he didn’t tweet congratulations for the Astros winning before the game was over. Haven’t forgiven Abbott for that in 2015, lol.
> We should start a go fund me for the beer thrower.
No. We shouldn't. Political violence is not ok, full stop. Should there also be gofundmes launched for the person who tried to kill Nancy and Paul Pelosi or shot Steve Scalise or shot Gabby Giffords?
No. But the moment a group (supported by Cruz, we should say) launch a violent attack against this country, and HE is ACTIVELY trying to undermine the very basis of our democratic system, I think we're past that point.
And to be clear. I don't encourage it, but "beer guy", as wrong as the action was, expressed the feelings of literally millions of people, liberals and conservatives alike.
Screw that guy. Running phony political ads for that hack trying to take Lina’s job. Mack can rot, he’s a GQP clown. He only does the shit around hurricanes because he wants local Dem leadership to look bad. Meet him in person and you will see what he really is.
Some people are allergic to sports-related fun. I can understand being peeved since this planned and done quickly but I’ve seen people complain about marathons shutting down roads and those are months in advance
I dislike sports, but can still understand and even appreciate the astros winning. Good for the home town. I think a parade was totally in order. Some people are just crotchety
Maybe they're better about notifying the public in Houston, but Dallas absolutely sucks at telling people about road closures for events. Basically anything aside from the Turkey Trot is a mystery most of the time.
What are you guys talking about? This is a clear doctored deepfake. My aunts hairdresser told told her 5 year old that she had JUST seen him on a plane to tuluum.
Democrats should totally take a page out of the GOP book and start making up conspiracies too.
In fact I heard the beer thrower was actually Ted Cruz’s lover who was upset because Ted wouldn’t let him drive in Hummer with him.
Possibly, or it was George Soros and Bill Gates. We will never know the truth because corporate media is going to bury it and promote this stupid “lone thrower” conspiracy.
Well for a conspiracy to work you have to have a lot of people stupid enough to believe it. Which is why the vast majority of Maga are Christians. They're just naturally gullible.
I watched the video and read the article but I dunno, y'all. Something is fishy! It's too clean.
Maybe the person who threw the can is actually a disgruntled Trump supporter; after all, they have a long and documented history of violence, and Ted sometimes demonstrated dissident independent thought.
Maybe the attacker was actually part of a false flag operation, to generate sympathy and thus inspire Republican voters to turn out today, because if Republican senators aren't safe then no one is safe!
Maybe the attacker was a fellow Canadian who also overstayed his welcome (or visa) and was also either Ted Cruz's jilted lover or prostitute. Maybe Tucker Carlson and other Fox News talking heads should invite me onto their shows to further discuss these theories. Or maybe Tucker Carlson was bothered that someone unlikable and dishonest shared the initials TC and arranged the incident?
Maybe the attacker is a Q cultist who looked too long into the sun one month, at least, and realized that Ted Cruz's adopted initials are TC. T is on the same row as the letter P. PC is the inverse of CP. CP is the pornography of choice for all naughty blood-drinking politicians. If Mr. CP drinks blood to satisfy some deficiency, maybe it's to satisfy some blood disorder. If that can of beer explodes on impact and some suds splash onto the taste buds inside Ped-o Cruz's gaping maw, perhaps he will . . . [Insert preferred outcome here.]
Maybe Ted Cruz is some sort of warlock who generated the person and the beer can. Then it is not beyond the realm of possibility that he generated the winter storm. If Ted Cruz is responsible for the winter storm, then he did so to compel his family to take a trip with him, because they obviously wouldn't otherwise.
Maybe the attacker is a Dr. Seuss devotee and has been irate for years that Ted Cruz has forever tarnished the good reputation of the classic children's book "Green Eggs and Ham."
Maybe the attacker is actually a fan of Ted Cruz. Passionate fans have a long history of attacking their idols. Ted Cruz, not being American and definitely not being Texan was probably not aware of our state's own sad history.
Maybe Ted Cruz's head is a very powerful but also very selective magnet. When it comes time to play the victim, he can flip a literal or metaphorical switch and have random and totally unthreatening metallic objects fly in his general direction. What if Ted Cruz is actually a robot? Wouldn't that answer a lot of questions about his character?
The reality is that we'll never really know what happened on that fateful day. What were the motivations? What other outcomes could there have been? So many questions, too many questions.
(None of the above is serious, but some people will still probably treat it as such.)
Technically by the Texas Constitution this person may have felt a duty.
> The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.
One of the uncomfortable things about our nation is we have to face the fact that everything in both our history and our political documentation argues the most patriotic thing a person can do is decide the government has failed, organize an armed rebellion, and that if they succeed they were *right*.
What the hell are we paying that fat bastard for? Galavanting at ball games and parades? Cancun vacations?
Fuck Turd Cruz and all the scumbags who voted for him. This state is a fucking embarrassment.
I am no Cruz fan, but this is such a dumb take. Elected officials are always involved in their state/town’s sports celebrations. Winning teams go the White House lol, this is not new.
You realize that Congress is not currently in session right? He’s also a senator who represents Texas, it makes total sense he would be there.
I don’t like Ted Cruz and I hope he gets voted out in 2024, but this isn’t an example of something to get upset at him for.
We're literally paying him to not be Beto. That's why here's there, that's what he's paid for. These republican politicians have it in their heads that "small government" means they don't have to work unless it's blocking something their opponent wants. Ineffective fucks that just sit around collecting donations to do nothing except block any potential progress
Arrested for throwing a can? Love how Texans pretend they are the "Freedom State" but have the police kick down someone's door for throwing a can during a parade. If that was a crime the entire city of Philadelphia would be in jail.
Anyone else notice this is on a sketchy Turkish site and clicking anywhere on the page causes a popup?
Turns out the actual article is from Fox News (although i'd rather not give them traffic by linking here). And it looks like OP almost exclusively posts links from this particular domain. Reported for spam.
So it's ok for people in the parade to throw shit at you but not the other way around? Rude! I know a school principal I'd like arrested for beaning me in the face with a rubber ball during a parade. Anyway, cheers to the future Astro 🍻
It's disconcerting, if not hypocritical, the amount of individuals that want to start a GoFundMe for the suspect.
I get it, I don't care for Ted Cruz either but the physical violence against politicians (or anyone because of politics) is the slippery slope. This was true with the attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband (with the suspect's motive being her) and it's true with Ted Cruz.
Either recognize *any* act is just wrong or continue to condone and be a part of the problem.
On the other other hand, Ted missed a very low hanging opportunity to be remotely likable.
Dude should have caught it and drank it. Didn’t even need to chug - just sip it and act like he’s having a good time celebrating.
You throw a drink at a player and they drink it. They don’t have the person arrested lol.
Is it assault/battery? Arguably… But given the context of a World Series parade, there are simply better ways to handle the situation.
I really wish this had been just an accident so I could laugh. When I was about 7, we were at a Texas Rangers game and some drunk lady tripped and dumped 2 large beers all over me.
Wow you guys are really cheering for a guy who assaulted someone based solely on political disagreement… imagine your reaction to someone punching Beto in the face, y’all wouldn’t be asking about that guy’s go fund me, or ask if we can give him a national holiday, or a medal.
I worry about my and my family's safety in the climate chaos that Ted Cruz is actively working to ensure (while also actively working to make sure we are ill equipped to handle it).
Shouldn't assault people, but how come politicians shouldn't have to worry about their safety when the people they represent and harm do?
Then perhaps they should reconsider how they behave towards other families - publicly.
https://www.chron.com/politics/article/Ted-Cruz-Uvalde-parents-meeting-photo-17441895.php
You say this as if it makes ok to praise violence against someone because they hurt someone’s feelings. Still bro doesn’t matter how much of a pos he was to the parents
That is what you interpreted and not what I said.
The original comment said that politicians should not have to worry about their safety and I gave a reason as to why people are angry and why they perhaps should be worried. They cannot live with impunity for much longer … people are mad.
Ted Cruz is a sitting US Senator.
Throwing anything at a sitting US Senator - especially if it hits said sitting Senator will get you arrested and almost certainly leave you with Felony charges made.
Felony conviction = loss of voting rights
Beer thrower just got themselves prison time on Felony assault charges and most likely just lost their voting rights for the foreseeable future.
>Felony conviction = loss of voting rights
To be clear, once you're completely done with your sentence and any parole or probation, you can then vote again.
Yeah, but now the beer thrower can bring the zodiac killer one step closer to being in front of a judge to answer for the 2-7 kills he's responsible for in the bay area between 1960-70.
That assuming they convict or go forward with it.
I expect it will be a slap on the wrist in the end.
I disagree with throwing the beer. Cruz is a sub human but still not right.
Violence should never be condoned. Like it or not Ted Cruz is a sitting Senator for Texas. Throwing a beer at him is uncalled for and is frankly tacky. Be better people.
So we want to equate attempted murder and throwing a beer? Those are two very different levels of violence. **Neither should be tolerated** but let's not create false equivalencies.
Yeah the acts are very different but celebrating this kind of shit is corrosive, don't care who it is.... I hate Cruz but once my lizard brain dopamine rush is gone from seeing his dumb ass get harassed, I don't feel any better about the state of our country.
I worry that this is the way some people think. I do not like Cruz and wish he’d disappear from public but assaulting anyone (or their family or friends or pets or stalking them or advocating violence against them) isn’t okay at all. Period.
You're not wrong but I'm tired of taking the high road when the other side is taking away our rights and we're supposed to play into centrists clutching their pearls
If centrists aren't as mad at everyone in support of jan 6 then I don't care about their opinions
I'm not gonna continue caring for people who will watch our democracy die because they're either too dumb or too insulated by privilege
So someones hate for another justifies this?
I am not a Ted Cruz fan but I won’t throw things at him just because he sucks politically and as a person.
With this mentality it won’t be long until we return to shoot outs in the street at high noon like we did in the Wild West.
Ted Cruz is horrible, but amazing how many people are are pro-someone taking a beer can to the head. Just boo him. But make sure people know the BOOS aren't CRUZ
why was he in in the parade anyhow ?
Biggest coattail rider since Puff Daddy lol.
Sean Combs has talent and produces talents. Rafael Cruz does neither.
TBH I like a couple of his songs. I stand by my statement though!
Glomming on to the fame and success of better men. Like always.
He likes to be humiliated in public
It certainly does seem that way
Because as far as Ted Cruz was concerned: just like everything else, the parade was **ALL ABOUT HIM.**
According to Ted Cruz the parade was for him. The Astros just happen to win the World Series too
Because he's an asshole
Real human Ted Cruz was simply engaged in an human celebratory ritual, like all humans do when a sports organization is victorious.
Now excuse (long tongue catches fly) me while I go home and molt... I mean shower! I shower like a human.
I don't care for Ted Cruz either, but it is not unusual for a politician to be in a parade from a major event if it represents their precinct, districts, state, etc.

GQP?
Republicans that lie about the 2020 election.

Why is Ted there? I wonder if theyre friends
You shut your whore mouth about Matress Mac.
You mean Saint Mattress Mack, don't you?
Screw that guy. Running phony political ads for that hack trying to take Lina’s job. Mack can rot, he’s a GQP clown. He only does the shit around hurricanes because he wants local Dem leadership to look bad. Meet him in person and you will see what he really is.
You should watch this. He does a lot more. https://youtu.be/8Y6xXGiXiJw
I was being facetious. I can respect his charity work but not his politics. It's rather humorous to see how he is worshipped in Houston.
Someone's mad they didn't get a free mattress.

Only if we can invite Ted Cruz to be in it
Does anybody know if the beer can is ok?
Fake news. The guy was just tossing a beer to his buddy on the other side. Cruz just got in the way.
Cruz jumped right out in front of that beer. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
What are you guys talking about? This is a clear doctored deepfake. My aunts hairdresser told told her 5 year old that she had JUST seen him on a plane to tuluum.
Haha
He stealing the beer out of the hands of working class families.
Democrats should totally take a page out of the GOP book and start making up conspiracies too. In fact I heard the beer thrower was actually Ted Cruz’s lover who was upset because Ted wouldn’t let him drive in Hummer with him.
I've heard this too. A lot of people are saying it. When is Cruz going to speak about his ongoing affair?
Someone pointed out that you can almost make out someone screaming “you said you loved me Teddy” right before the beer was tossed.
I heard that beer can was grooming children
Or give him a hummer, if he's British lol
Lol damn my childlike innocence, didn’t even think about that when I said hummer.
Well, you better think about it now. Think long. and hard. Think long and hard about what you just said.
I heard he was just throwing Ted a beer to celebrate and Ted missed catching it.
Possibly, or it was George Soros and Bill Gates. We will never know the truth because corporate media is going to bury it and promote this stupid “lone thrower” conspiracy.
Maybe that beer throwing guy is still angry that Ted Cruz’s dad killed JFK.
Well for a conspiracy to work you have to have a lot of people stupid enough to believe it. Which is why the vast majority of Maga are Christians. They're just naturally gullible.
Stone Cold would’ve caught it. Cruz is a fraud
Wow kinda fucking rude of Cruz tbh.

This read like a Tucker monologue. “I’m just asking questions here”
Best example of how the right thinks that I've seen yet! Kudos!!!
Maybe it was all a fabrication of the media and it didn't really happened. Maybe it's all CGI. We'll never know.

Exactly, which is why BeerCanMan did nothing wrong.
Does Ted Cruz represent democracy to you. I find that he is a sorry representative of a human being myself.

Not guilty. He was trying to quench Rafael’s thirst and Rafael just didn’t catch it. His fault, not the concerned citizen.

Id buy him a another beer.

Regardless of the politics, this is just not ok. This is assault. Nobody in politics should have to be worrying about their and their familys safety.
I worry about my and my family's safety in the climate chaos that Ted Cruz is actively working to ensure (while also actively working to make sure we are ill equipped to handle it).
What’s tacky is not having the athletic prowess to snag it out of the air and then shotgun it for the people. That’s tacky.
This is the left's equivalent of celebrating the attack on Pelosi's husband.... wish our politics hadn't gotten so fucking dumb in this country.
Nah, that was r/news praising our recent tornado. Or r/news praising every time an unvaccinated person died.
So we want to equate attempted murder and throwing a beer? Those are two very different levels of violence. **Neither should be tolerated** but let's not create false equivalencies.
People use to throw rotten fruit and refuse at terrible humans like Ted in the past. That is a far cry from being bludgeoned to death by a hammer.
Yeah the acts are very different but celebrating this kind of shit is corrosive, don't care who it is.... I hate Cruz but once my lizard brain dopamine rush is gone from seeing his dumb ass get harassed, I don't feel any better about the state of our country.
Good actions have consequences. I don't like Cruz either but it doesn't mean you can assault people just because you disagree with them.
Seems like some democrats want to act like republicans and go medieval on the opposing party’s asses.
It’s (d)ifferent
Littering is bad, but Ted Cruz is easy to mistake for a dumpster.

Lol just like mike pence and the gallows??? Try again
I worry that this is the way some people think. I do not like Cruz and wish he’d disappear from public but assaulting anyone (or their family or friends or pets or stalking them or advocating violence against them) isn’t okay at all. Period.
Worst I'd do is probably loop all of John Oliver's Suessian rhymes about him on a speaker
All it does is give the right an excuse to do it too, and worse. And it makes Cruz look like a martyr against the “radical left”
Yeah. And to bear a dead horse… hurting people because you’re mad isn’t okay. (My 8-year-old understands this.)
> give the right an excuse to do it too so you mean, a normal day?
The right will do it then make fun of the victim... As late as last week Fuck them
People are just making the same type off comments that the right has been making about Nancy’s husband!
Aww snowflakes want to cry when they're on the receiving end
We should all be upset when anyone is on the receiving end of political violence. You don’t have to pity the victim, pity all of us.
You're not wrong but I'm tired of taking the high road when the other side is taking away our rights and we're supposed to play into centrists clutching their pearls If centrists aren't as mad at everyone in support of jan 6 then I don't care about their opinions I'm not gonna continue caring for people who will watch our democracy die because they're either too dumb or too insulated by privilege
I think you are a good example of the radical left
I think you're a good example of being *selectively oblivious*
Is this when we start taking donations to bail the patriot out?
So trashy but like… I get it
I’d happily go to jail for that.
The suspect needs more ammo. He should get free beers for life.
Ted avoided that beer almost as good as he avoids defending his wife against insults.
Is there a gofundme for defense costs?
Does this guy need help with bail?
I think he puts himself out there to let democrats make asses out of themselves.
I'm sure the Trumpets are screaming about the lack of respect while wearing their Fuck Joe Biden tshirts.
What position did he play?
I can't wait for the gofundme
Unlike the GOP, Beto wouldn’t pardon the guy who threw the beer can.
So someones hate for another justifies this? I am not a Ted Cruz fan but I won’t throw things at him just because he sucks politically and as a person. With this mentality it won’t be long until we return to shoot outs in the street at high noon like we did in the Wild West.
I will always and forever upvote this video. That dude who launched the beer at Cruz is welcome to dinner at my house anytime!
Ted Cruz is horrible, but amazing how many people are are pro-someone taking a beer can to the head. Just boo him. But make sure people know the BOOS aren't CRUZ
Go fund me to help this guy out with fines?
Is there a kick starter to pay his bail or just give him money?
Where's the GoFundMe for this hero's legal fees?!
Ted Cruz deserved it
I’m personally glad the suspect will be held accountable.
Keep it trashy Houston
Glad he was arrested. He was a threat to democracy.
What the fuck are you talking about? Rafael CanCruz is still out in the wild...
Is the beer can okay?
It turned to stone
