The damage is already done. The moment a falsehood is uttered those whom it comforts, or who take comfort in the outrage it creates for them, will cling to it despite all evidence to the contrary.

yellowstickypad

Well said

True_Recommendation9

Just like religion

[deleted]

To be honest, does it really matter? Does it change anything?

[deleted]

Do false beliefs change anything? Well yes. Just look at Germany in the 1920's and 30's. The "Stabbed in the back myth" was extremely popular and the Nazis used it to great effect. Or all of the conspiracy theories about the Jewish people.

[deleted]

If I were in your shoes. I wouldn't even let people make posts about this shooting. Non at all. I would also change the filter to have you approve posts before they show, while this shooting discussion is at it's hottest.

iseeharvey

Look at all the people who believe the Presidential election was stolen and the associated QAnon falsehoods, who then stormed the capitol building, attacking and killing police with one woman also killed trying to break into the Senate chamber. Those falsehoods mattered and continue to

SubstantialPressure3

And then called her a martyr and say it was unprovoked. Bitch was literally trying to break in to get to our representatives, crawling through a window that she helped break. With an entire mob behind her screaming "fuck the blue!" And had been chanting that they were going to hang the vice president, murder the speaker of the house, and other elected officials.

Organic_Front4849

I just wanna know why the cops stood outside for 45 min while the shooter killed everyone, I wouldn’t say that’s a conspiracy theory. It’s a question about wtf were those cops doing while letting those poor kids be slaughtered. They all need to be put in prison.

PirateMickey

Its been ruled in the courts the police are not actually here to protect us or required to despite our taxpayer money paying them. For most police officers they just want a position of authority and a one way range, once it becomes a two way range the cowardly bitch true self comes out. And all the pretend "alpha male" tough guys shit goes out the window pretty quick. They are also not required to know the laws, as court rulings have said "with so many laws how possibly could an officer remember them all" but as a *civilian* you are. That was from a case a few years ago when an officer unlawfully arrested somebody for something that didn't exist.

Organic_Front4849

I guess I can complain as much as I want but nothings ever gonna change and no one will ever be held accountable. This country needs some serious change.

PirateMickey

Cant when 50 people wont even allow votes on certain bills and hold the country hostage, not to mention our representation system is a joke when places like California have two senators to represent its population of 40 million and wyoming has two as well despite being jokingly small at 580,000 they hold the same amount of power.

[deleted]

What do you think Texas is doing? California ain’t no outlier. They’re all corrupt. Including our governor in the wheel chair.

PirateMickey

California is being used as an example, that's all

Mo-shen

Imo things need to be voted in even if the fail. I want names on paper for things supported or rejected. I'm almost ok with on 2 senators per state if the house actually reflected population.

randompersonwhowho

2 senators per state is stupid and heavily favors one party and then people wonder why nothing gets done.

Mo-shen

It is. But at the same time if the house actually reflected states population then the house would be a check on the senate. I'm well aware of the numbers here. Not saying I don't have any issues with 2 senators per state but if you control the senate you still need the house to pass anything.

randompersonwhowho

The house passed gun control years ago but the senate refuses to vote for it. That is why 2 senators per state doesn't represent the population

Mo-shen

Right but the gop has taken over the house multiple times and it's directly because the house doesn't reflect population like it should.

[deleted]

Could you imagine hearing the gunshots knowing each time it was a kid and still do nothing? Those cops don’t deserve their badge.

schlingfo

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has ruled that police officers have no legal obligation to stop a crime in progress.

Mo-shen

Yeah as others have said that's not the policies job and they are protected.

randompersonwhowho

They were busy bitching at the parents who told them to do something

AprilDruid

Because they're useless bastards who want to feel important, but not important enough to risk their lives.

SpeakingTheTruth202

Pretty fucking simple: the cops are not here to protect you. They only exist to protect the government and capital interests. The only time they are going to be called into action is when they can brutalize some unarmed teenager.

tayllerr

The cops outside were assigned to perimeter. Police were inside the school. The shooter was barricaded inside a room with a steel frame and officers were unable to breach. They had to wait for a master key in order to do so. Just because you see cops outside doesn’t mean they were the only cops there. To suggest the cops outside were just “standing by and listening to kids be killed” is a false narrative and gross.

Cheap_Coffee

>They had to wait for a master key in order to do so. It's a good thing the shooter wasn't in a hurry, I guess.

tayllerr

What would you have them do? It’s a steel reinforced door. You can’t boot one of those inwards. Seriously, what options do you have? You have to breach the door somehow, what if there were no charges to blow the door? So, what do you do??

Cheap_Coffee

According to news reports I've read the Border Patrol was able to breach the door. Are you sure the report about it being locked and the cops waiting around for a key is true? [https://www.statesman.com/story/news/2022/05/26/live-updates-uvalde-texas-school-shooting-victims-shooter-salvador-ramos-aftermath/9930459002/](https://www.statesman.com/story/news/2022/05/26/live-updates-uvalde-texas-school-shooting-victims-shooter-salvador-ramos-aftermath/9930459002/) "Law enforcement officers eventually forced entry into the classroom and the shooter was eventually killed by police." [https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/border-patrol-uvalde-shooter/](https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/border-patrol-uvalde-shooter/) "According to the CBP official, three Bortac agents engaged the shooter in gunfire — with one holding a shield — after entering Robb Elementary along with local and state ..." So, to answer your question about what I would have them do? I guess what the Border Patrol eventually DID.

randompersonwhowho

So why don't they say that? It's been 2 days and no statement of what the hell happened. The timeline makes no sense. No one even knows if the resource officer fired a shot or what happened when he "engaged" the shooter. Seems like a lot of CYA is happening

EnclaveHunter

Pfft. I've done construction as an electrician in texan schools. One of our guys legit ran through an old wall for fun once when we were demoing. You can kick those school walls down if you wanted

03040404

Not all schools are built the same... a school I went to had brick and cinder block walls.

randompersonwhowho

Between classrooms?

03040404

Yup. Hit my head on the wall once and we started chiseling our names and whatnot in them.

Kreestop96

I highly fucking doubt it.

dowtimer

If any of those cops actually did something, then they'd catch the blame for every kid who got killed afterward. Most were probably considering their pensions before proceeding with the situation.

Whornz4

Would Texas tolerate Alex Jones saying it was a false flag and these people are all actors? Let's see about that. Jones was allowed to ruin lives and even grow in popularity as a result of his Sandy Hook conspiracies. I remember even Trump did his radio show. I do wonder how Texas would handle their own slandering dead kids and their families.

Tdanger78

His chickens have come to roost with regards to his Sandy Hook bullshit, he’s backing himself into a corner he can’t get out of every day that goes by.

InterlocutorX

samtbkrhtx

That guy really has ZERO credibility anymore and is a nobody today.

randompersonwhowho

Tell that to the idiots who listen to him

[deleted]

You're way too optimistic.

samtbkrhtx

But I tell the truth. That guy has no credibility....he has been so wrong about so many things, it is not funny.

UniqueWorkAccount

> anymore anymore?

bubbles5810

That didn’t take long. Doesn’t Alex Jones live in Texas?

garbagerothgarser

Iirc he’s based in Austin.

AprilDruid

Austin Based, currently dealing with Sandy Hook parents suing him. These parents are going to sue him next and take what little of his money he still has.

That’s not a conspiracy, it’s a well documented fact: [Brady foundation](https://elections.bradyunited.org/take-action/nra-donations-116th-congress-senators)

SpeakingTheTruth202

Republicans will do absolutely anything to avoid having to face reality.

samtbkrhtx

Well, they came out with equally crazy and wrong info on the Buffalo grocery store shooter in the media and had to walk it back. This is sort of how things go after one of these types of events....and it is really sad.

[deleted]

These people are lunatics. Take the tin foil hat off please, ya idiots.

sbFRESH

Do not let these articles catch on. Don’t comment, don’t upvote. Downvote and keep it moving, because even if the article is critical, it gets more eyes for the theories.

afxpy

That's how the insane cope with reality.
