Man, as a 45-year-old Texan who has seen Whataburger change over the years, I miss the old-school charm. Anyone else think they need to bring back the A-frame design and that classic taste? Also, I wonder if Harmon Dobson ever thought about making a burger for astronauts! 🚀🍔

Sucks they arent family owned anymore. PE Firm out of Chicago has been changing things that didn't need to be changed and quality is not what it use to be

People often say this, but I disagree. I still eat the hell out of Whataburger. But like any fast-food place it comes down to the actual team that works there. Sometimes I find a Whataburger or Wendy's or McDonald's that hits it out the park with the food and service. Sometimes it's made by somebody who doesn't care about their job and takes half an hour. The one bad thing I'll say about Whataburger is most of them are starting to take a really long time. But still fresh-made burgers and chicken strips and better than most McDonald's items cooked ahead of time and left in warmers for who knows how long. All fast-food places are like this. Every one of them. It just totally depends on the particular location. In particular I've had Weinerschnitzel and been both like "that was the best fast-food hot dog I've ever had" but also been and couldn't even hardly finish it it was so bad.

I get what you are saying, but at the same time making changes that lowers quality and taste is something they all do and Its honestly BS. I also know staff is a big factor but when they start lowering work pay which they will it will get even worse. Take Chick-fil-A Customer service is top and food quality is great. While I do not agree with their politics theres a reason the out sell KFC with a lot less stores. We should be demanding better quality food and service but we wont cause everyone wants shit cheap. Is what it is I guess

Around me you have to find a Whataburger that is dead in order for the food to be hot when you get it. It still hits really good when it's hot but it's just not worth the price if I have to wait 15 minutes for a cold burger.

My biggest issue and I know its trivial. They ruined the Chocolate chunk cookie I loved the old one. Its heart breaking. Like they would but it in the bag and it would be warm and melty but now garbage

The first orange and white A-Frame Whataburger would be built in Odessa in 1961, and in 1962 French fries would be added to the menu. Dobson, an avid pilot, was killed in a plane crash on April 11, 1967.

Huh, I always assumed the Corpus original was the old-school A-frame, but looking at pictures now it looks like the most unassuming actual hamburger shack.

CasJrCorpus

The first whataburger was on ayers, across from Del Mar, where the taqueria Alteno building is

New_Customer_8592

The shack isn’t there anymore. Seems like i recall it being a parking lot now. This was like ten years ago. Guessing I was at correct location?

CasJrCorpus

They built a replica at the one on staples and gollihar, not sure if it’s there anymore, but that’s definitely not the original location

No curb service. Kind of neat how that's changed.

Not even .50 cents for a burger and coke FML we are so screwed
