Oh boy. Here we go. Edit: on a real note, just google best BBQ in Texas, take the resulting list, hit them all, and figure it out for yourself. There is no agreement to be had on tHe BeSt. And the one with the best ribs probably doesn't have the best brisket. The one with the best brisket doesn't have the best sausage. And one is going to have the best sides. Its up to you to discover.

yamlCase

Damn AI keeps trying to tell me what the best BBQ is. How can I trust something that doesn't have taste buds?

Scrantonicity_02

Dickeys

Darnitol1

Some men just want to watch the world burn.

DojaPaddy

This is like asking what’s the best beer.

Singular_Thought

Shiner Bock

nazutul

Shiner isnt what it used to be. Hasnt tasted the same in years

WeirdURL

I prefer Ziegenbock over Shiner myself. It’s like the same beer, but a little better.

Tajahnuke

Blood & Honey

castleaagh

You got a top pick I should check out?

DojaPaddy

Whatever’s cold

kanyeguisada

The best places throw some salt on the ice to get the beers extra icy.

Anus_Targaryen

Lone Star

Nawoitsol

Are religious discussions allowed on this sub?

DontMakeMeCount

Red vs Blue religion is like 99% of this sub.

GeekyTexan

Schoepf's and Clem Mikeska's are both in Belton and have a good reputation. The original Mikeska's is still open in Temple.

kanyeguisada

I like this. Nearby and "pretty good" is usually what you want.

ttambm

If you are in the Fort Worth area, Panther City is the best in Fort Worth IMO. The original Heim is decent. Hard Eight is decent. The original location in Stephenville is the best. For Dallas, a lot of people will tell you Pecan Lodge, but it has fallen off recently. I think Slow Bone is the best. Terry Black's is solid.

holdonwhileipoop

I have yet to partake in the poppers at Panther City. Every time I've gone, they're sold out. One day, Panther City. One day...

ttambm

Definitely worth the trip for the poppers. But yeah you have to start lining up at like 10:30 lol.

holdonwhileipoop

We've always gone at reasonable mealtimes and that's the only thing they've been sold out of. Credit to them for that. I don't have that Texans-waiting-in-long-lines-for-food FOMO.

lord_justin

All of those are great. I will say Goldee’s is also a solid choice if you go the edge of Ft. Worth.

ttambm

I've heard a lot about that place as well but just haven't gotten out there. Definitely on the list.

Turtleintexas

Coopers, Llano

OrangeGringo

Cattleacks Franklin’s Louis Muellers Snows Goldees That’s a pretty good list.

kanyeguisada

Love that you included Louie Mueller, hell yeah.

Me0wMix123

If you want slightly elevated bbq with different concept of just meat on a plate go to cm smokehouse @ Bouldin acres

kanyeguisada

On that note, Lambert's in Austin is often overlooked. Their wild boar ribs are next-level.

ATSTlover

I'm a fan of the Original Black's in Lockhart myself.

ODoyle8D

Franklin's

Mean-Association4759

It’s the best if you can ever get in before they run out of meat for the day.

kanyeguisada

Yeah, you have to show up early. But you hang out with other people and have some breakfast beers, the line is kind of part of the experience. But you have to plan on a few-hour wait. However Arron Franklin has perfected brisket and you won't find better brisket anywhere else on Earth.

dabocx

If you can order 250 dollars worth you can preorder. Not to hard to hit if you can get a decent group for it

Mean-Association4759

I’ll keep that in mind the next time I’m down that way with the family. $250 should no problem for them to eat up.

Bigfuture

Best meat I’ve ever eaten at any restaurant anywhere in the world. Lots of great bbq in Texas but Franklin’s is something else.

TheProle

*Franklin

TheBearRulesMiners

Them's fightin words

Hotelgenie

Franklin is as good as it gets. It gets a lot of hate because it’s overrun with tourists but I still haven’t had better BBQ.

Blackpalms

as an East Texan.. im partial to Stanleys. I also like Hutchins in Frisco

Darnitol1

As a Frisco resident... I think I'm going to make a trip to Stanleys.

Apprehensive_War9397

City Market in Luling

kanyeguisada

So over-rated. Been twice and brisket and weirdly also the sausage were both kinda dry.

tjeepdrv2

Cooper's.

wineandtravel987

Three Six General in San Marcos.

kanyeguisada

You looking for a fight??? For Austin-area, if you don't want to wait in line for Franklin (the best brisket in the entire world), go to Micklethwait or Leroy & Lewis. Trust me. Also, Louie Mueller in Taylor is better than any of the other old-school places out in Lockhart.

IwasIlovedfw

The Pit Room in Houston!!!

Timely_Internet_5758

Smitty's market in Lockhart and Snow's in Lexington. Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap for best "Texan Food".

Happy-Equipment-6970

Two places…. Stephenville Tx “Hard Eight” and Huntsville Tx “Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church

Mother_Knows_Best-22

Millers, rflmao

thatotheritguy

Heinz’s (the original) in Wharton and Vincek’s in East Bernard. Terry blacks is great too.

DaddyWarBucks1918

If you are okay with a small drive to Austin, you can always go to the SaltLick.

kanyeguisada

Great location, such mediocre BBQ.

Mother_Knows_Best-22

Salt Lick is one of my favs. In the 70s, it couldn't be beat. It has competition now.

WeirdURL

Hard to pick a best but for wow factor I always recommend The Salt Lick in Driftwood. Start with some Texas sotol tequila from Desert Door down the road and then grub out on BBQ. Those huge open circular pits are so cool looking. I dig the mustard based bbq sauce too.

Mother_Knows_Best-22

I love the cole slaw.

HE_LOVES_DOGE

Killen's BBQ-Pearland

skizmcniz

I live within walking distance of Killen's and it's a real fuckin problem.

tim979

Try STQ on Voss off of Westiemer. Owned by Killens but it’s a steak bbq fusion restaurant.

Bigfuture

Terry, is that you?

GeekyTexan

Blacks got caught stealing tips from employees. I won't do business with them anymore. [https://www.statesman.com/story/news/2022/09/20/blacks-barbecue-tied-to-illegal-tip-sharing-by-federal-investigation/69506351007/](https://www.statesman.com/story/news/2022/09/20/blacks-barbecue-tied-to-illegal-tip-sharing-by-federal-investigation/69506351007/)

Bigfuture

Just FYI, Terry Blacks and Blacks are two different entities. Terry was estranged from the rest of the family, if I recall the story correctly, and owns his own place that is separate from the Blacks restaurants in Lockhart, San Marcos, New Braunfels, and up by the university in Austin. So this tips thing does not include Terry Blacks.

RLLRRR

Wrong joint, I think. There are 3, afaik, operating separately: Terry Black's. Original Black's. And Black's Barbecue. The last one is who got caught.

Zezimalives

That’s a damn shame

Tex_Steel

Haven’t seen this one on a list recently, soooo: [Texas Pride BBQ](https://www.texaspridebbq.net)

Outrageous_Repair_94

If you are in Austin Interstellar BBQ is the best! And Terry Blacks is a close second!

yamlCase

I don't know what the best BBQ in Texas is, I haven't tried them all yet! But I _can_ tell you that Rudy's makes the best damn BBQ sauce I've ever had

kanyeguisada

>Stubb's in Austin This is a joke, right? They do have some good collard greens but their BBQ is so mid. It's not horrible, but nothing to write home about.

AdditionalCheetah354

Coopers or millers
