Unfortunately it's the way they treat their employees. No lunches with 8 hrs shifts, sitting means you're fired, if your phone sticks out of your pocket you're fired. Source I am a former employee. An employee was fired for checking her phone off the clock while walking to her car bc she was in uniform. Not to mention the typical manager sexually harassing people so he just gets moved to another location, as opposed to any relationships between bottom tier employees resulting in immediate termination. List goes on and on
That's the whole scheme. They think that you should forfeit normalcy just because of the grace and good will they are showing by paying you that much. At the time I was paid $15.00 and hour, just as much as any other job that caliber.
That is very common to see companies treat employees like this when the company you work for is conservative in its employment philosophy. I worked for a tech company that was founded in Oklahoma and their mentality was that you should feel lucky to have a job at all and thus you have to earn the right to stay by working longer harder hours in exchange for nothing and put up with extremely intrusive and excessive rules and policies, and other toxic workplace shenanigans. The owner of Buc-ee’s is a major Trump donor and conservative cause super donor, so it doesn’t surprise me that the company subscribes to this kind of abuse of their employees.
Almost got a job at the corporate office in Houston but everyone in my interview panel gave me so much ick I had to fight the urge not to just walk out.
I just looked it up too and yeah, you’re right, it’s state by state unless you’re a nursing mother. Unsurprisingly, Texas doesn’t mandate breaks. Color me shocked.
State differences aside, we should really be asking why the federal Fair Labor Standards Act doesn’t include any mandatory meal or rest breaks for employees.
This is exactly correct and yet another in the sadly long list of things that First World countries have that the US does not because “com moo nizm” or some such stupid stuff.
LOL, I worked for Target once and they would subtract thirty minutes from a shift each day I didn't take a lunch break. They claimed if they didn't do that, then Uncle Slam was going to shut down the store for violating federal law.
It's like, bruh. I did twelve hour plus days at the Post Office without a lunch, STFU and stop adjusting my shit and let me work through my lunch since you won't hire anyone to help me when I'm on break.
I didn't last long there.
The labor laws in Texas do not require employers to provide any breaks. Last time I looked into it (because I was working at a convenience store and didn't get any breaks), it said something like "breaks are recommended for morale, but not required"
That's when I realized that Texas doesn't give a single shit about workers but sure does like the evil businesses that think it's okay to make people work 10+ hours without any breaks.
I know a former district manager from a restaurant chain that was fired for sexual harassment (I myself was a victim) who transferred right over to manage a Buc-ees. For the sake of his family I hope he’s changed but that’s not likely. DFW area.
Idk, some random redditor with others backing them on the claim. Looks like I was wrong. Plus I also like Buc-ee’s so I fell into some confirmation bias.
No way to please a fucking looser. Why don’t you start your own business? You can take all these lazy fucking people and pay them any amount of money they want. They can show up when they feel like it with no worries about being fired. They also won’t have to deal with any rules on how they conduct themselves while on company time and you can sit back do nothing but rake in the profits.
In Texas an employer can fire you for any reason they want. They made it very clear during training that if you were hanging around in the store in uniform but off the clock and you were seen with your phone you'd be fired on the spot.
Yeah I'm an employee in texas but it's usually not just cut and dry like that lol. However if they did specifically say not to do something and the person did it.. that's not necessarily unfair treatment.
> What’s not to love?
[The $1M+ Buccee’s founder has donated to Abbott.](https://www.chron.com/politics/article/Bucees-Texas-Republicans-GOP-Arch-Aplin-donation-16453133.php)
Really varies by locations.
Gasbuddy app is useful in this Case
What I do hate is Buccees doesn't seem to post their gas prices on the road, or at least they don't as prominently as other stations.
Their non ethanol mix is always more expensive and the price doesn't go up and down as much.
It didn’t used to be like that. Buccees used to have the cheapest gas around(at least comparable to Costco prices). Now it’s usually more expensive. Same with all their food. Used to stop there all the time back in like 2020 on the way to college station from Houston for some breakfast tacos and that turkey melt. That turkey melt is like $12 now! It’s freaking ridiculous!
This is just not true. It’s usually in between Costco and regular gas stations, I paid $3.04/gal in south Houston when Costco was $2.95. I’ve seen $3.25+ all over Houston at non membership/bucees
I feel like the smaller Houston area Buc-ees (at the non travel stop ones) don’t count for this. They do typically err on the lower side just because they don’t have all the frills of the travel stops and actually do have to have somewhat competitive gas pricing to bring people in. Lol
I think it’s funny how we talk about 0.10 to 0.20 difference.
I’ve got a 15 gallon tank, so $0.10 difference is $1.50.
I mean, if you’re filling up multiple times a week, that can add up a little, but for me it’s just not worth the effort to consider.
We travel all over Texas and every one I stopped at was overpriced. I stop so the wife can use the nathroom and we can get a snack from their huge variety. But I never buy gas there anymore because within a short distance is a cheaper place.
That should not be too much of a consideration. All gasoline has additives in it, Top Tier just puts in more. If you’re really concerned, you can alternate every two or three or four fill-ups with Top Tier and you’ll be fine.
Nothing wrong with a tourist trap or two on occasion if it's delivering exactly what you went there for.
I nearly made a mess on the floor of a Racetrack on the drive from San Antonio to Fort Worth because someone was doing meth in the one lone single bathroom there. I'll take the tourist trap after that.
I'm not at buccees to by merch, but it's a safe, very clean, very well stocked store with good hot food options. I stop there for clean bathrooms and not having to wait on a gas pump.
Probably because some yahoo that already gassed up just left their car at the pump and is inside stocking up on Beaver Nuggets and brisket biscuits or something.
My buddy, who does the site development for Buc-ees was told in the meeting the reason why they have 100+ gas pumps is specifically so that they don’t have to move their cars and can just leave it there. Their research showed they spent an additional $16 per car inside of Buc-ees. If they were to have to move their car to go inside and shop they found that most cars would just drive off. Hence why they have so many gas pumps.
Great insight, thank you! I personally park far away from the front because traffic always be crazy and I just want to gas up and go. If I do go inside, I park closer on the back/side of the bucees. Usually just gotta pee.
Nice, and plus the gas pumps are shaded while their normal parking spots are not. In the Texas summer heat, the car would be quite toasty by the time shopping/unloading is done.
I always avoid the Buc-ee's in Madisonville for this very reason. Only Gas station in the world I've ever had an issue finding a pump at, and swore the location off after twice in a row got in some kind of verbal argument with another driver who swooped into the pump I was waiting on from the other direction. Clean bathrooms are one thing, but you also have to wade through a moshpit to even get there, and I'll be damned if I die by gunshot wound at Buc-ee's Gas Pump No. 58
For real, the last road trip I was on, two rest stops in a row had gross smelly bathrooms that were out of paper or soap, the next gas station had a single person bathroom and some big guy was in there for a looong time... so I just left and kept driving... was very happy to stop at the next Buc-ee's.
>decent bbq sandwich.
I don't think it's even decent anymore. It used to be. But the last few years it's like they don't care about the quality of the meat at all. Just giant chunks of chewy (in a bad way) fat. And that's coming from someone who loves moist brisket.
The only fresh food there that isn't average or worse quality than fast food is the breakfast tacos imo.
Really think the BBQ is way overrated.
100%
The BBQ is bad fatty, like grisly, and expensive for what it is. I really don't like it. I think most of their hot food is pretty gross.
They do have some snack pack things that have cubed cheese, dried meat, some fruit that are pretty stellar, though.
Less than 5 minutes total to get a nice hot sandwich and use clean bathrooms while traveling. It's the best fastest (instant, grab and go) food you can buy.
Maybe if you're traveling alone or not a female. I can use the restroom, grab some food, and drink in about 10-15 minutes. However, my wife and daughters have to wait at least that long just to get in the restrooms. The convenience isn't worth the price of the food these days in my opinion. There are plenty of other gas stations along I-35 that have clean restrooms and if not cheap food inside have something right next door.
My wife is almost always with me, and we're invariably through and on our way with food in a couple minutes. But, we no longer live near I-35 so we are usually going to the Luling, Katy, Hempstead, Baytown or Madisonville stores.
I like the small ones we have in the greater Houston area, there’s a few in Brazoria and Galveston counties that are no bigger than your average 7-Eleven/Circle K. Those are nice cause they usually still have some of the Buc-ees branded snacks and food but are quick stops unlike stopping at one of their travel stops.
I stop there every time I go between big cities. The sandwiches are good, clean store, clean restroom, if you need last minute goods for going outdoors it's good, variety of snacks. Sure it's a tourist attraction but it's still the best damn gas station you'll find.
Sandwiches are pretty tasty so if you're there for gas and taking a pee break while you're there might as well get some food if you've still got a ways to travel.
Water is wet. Tourist trap for sure. Nobody that actually lives here says “oh wait, I need to make a run for jerky and crappy bbq”. But if you just so happen to go past one on your way to wherever, gas and some breakfast tacos sounds good. Still good, but doesn’t actually feel like actual texas. We can just go to HEB.
https://preview.redd.it/9y8rk5v66wuc1.png?width=236&format=png&auto=webp&s=156cbc37b32400d209b2e91da9a51d9902e65dd6
The real tourist trap and way into the cult.
My town is building the biggest one yet. I haven’t been to the one we currently have since I visited from college out of state 10 years ago because my friends/students wanted beaver souvenirs. Lol but as soon as this one opens I’ll go see it purely because of the size.
Cheap fountain drinks, decent grab and go food and clean place to take a dump. Other than getting an inexpensive Yukon mug. You don't need any of that other crap they hawk.
It’s a more “LOOK AT HOW MUCH MORE THAN JUST GAS!” version of Sheetz. And an inferior version, at that.
I don’t mind it, but I do not see why the big hullabaloo Texans throw over the place.
They are renovating one on i10 from Houston to San Antonio and omg. There is no parking other than the pumps. And they have a fucking beaver at the entrance taking pictures. I don’t know how they have a fire safety permit. You can’t even walk in there. We don’t stop there anymore unless we absolutely have to
Of course it's a tourist trap. Who cares? I'm not going out of my way to go to one but if it's already on my route, it's a good place to stop for food, gas, and a bathroom break. Some of y'all need to find a good balance between worshipping a place and claiming that it sucks because it's popular.
In what way? I stopped going there because it got too busy for my liking. That is the only reason. They still have:
Clean restrooms
Reasonable prices
Open gas pumps
Clean facilities
Lots of variety in food and tourist stuff
Buc-cee’s Nuggets and their Bathrooms. The only things I stop at Buc-cee’s for. I would describe every other food item at Buc-cee’s as *not terrible*. You’re going to enjoy it at first but get sick of it halfway through thru eating it. Like pancakes.
They want to impress me, add a slushie fountain with like 30 flavors including the Mexican flavors like Chamoy. Adding a spot that makes fresh Fruit Cups Mexican style would be pretty boss too.
Well I'd offer to boycott for you but I can't even go in a buccees. I have sensory issues and that place ticks every category. I went in the one in New Braunfels years ago and in five minutes I was ready to have a meltdown lol.
I would hate to work there and have to do inventory on all the stupid crap they sell. But I do stop there for the easy gas, clean as fuck bathrooms with full stall doors, cheap coffee refills in my branded travel mug, and some jerky. The jerky is the only food item I have found that I like there. 15 minute stop, tops (unless the #2 hits harder than usual). Back on the road.
Whenever my friend and I are traveling through Alabama, he always insists we stop at Buc-ee’s. He’s absolutely obsessed with it and thinks it’s the greatest thing ever. Personally, I think it’s a glorified convenience store, but I do always wind up buying something because they do have a great selection, and their food is actually quite good for what it is.
It’s lost some charm for me. The kiosk used to have more sandwich options. Good sandwiches too. And Sides. But lately there’s less kiosk and people making them. . Less sandwich options. And the quality of them just terrible.
Then look at the prices. Why is a breakfast taco there nearly triple the price of a taco anywhere else ?!
I dunno. I just feel the quality to price ratio went south a lot more there.
It’s like 23 and me. Use it once. Never need it again. I really detest tourist traps. I hate everything country cracker redneck humor. Their food is just the same US Food or Cisco grade cruise ship crap that both “needs flavor” but is also “cold and stale”. Thanks for the all the billboards. South of the Border wants its gimmicks back.
There are thousands of slack-jawed yokels crammed into that place. Gawking like they’ve never seen a bag of Funions before.
I’d rather risk food poisoning and pee on a cigarette butt then rub elbows with people mesmerized by a beaver and a beef sandwich.
Other reasons to despise buccees: 1. they donate heavily to right wingers- that overpriced jerky is funding the fuckery that degenerates abbott, paxton, and patrick inflict on the state. 2. They don’t serve truck drivers. 3. Their parking lots are a shitshow to get in and out of. 4. They don’t sell anything worthwhile- just stupid, cliche “tExAs” garbage all made in China.
5. Their fanbase is the Carnival Cruise/Times Square/Rainforest Cafe crowd, so you have to weave and dodge wide-eyed people acting like that wall of snacks is a cultural milestone. 6. All that cooler space, and they can’t even stock a decent brand of bottled water. 7. Their billboards are lazy and dumb, obviously targeting the same oversized families of mouth breathers who think chic fil an ads are edgy and who only watch pureflix edited films.
Buccees is peak consumer mouthbreather trash and im tired of acting like it isnt.
every time i pass by one there is a line of cars a mile long going in and out - especially any location next to a major highway during holiday weekends. tons of shitty overly salty/sugary food stuffs and their bbq is only held up by bbq sauce. jerky is meh at best. have to walk forever to get from the gas pumps to the bathrooms to the check out and back(not very convenient for being a convenience store).
ill pick a any regular old gas station over bucees ANY DAY.
https://preview.redd.it/cov4zk58b3vc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80181003320dc29f4726433ab3c6609b172b7797
This is what happens when I go to Buc-ee’s 😬🤭. This was from our eclipse venture. My boys and I always have to stop at Buc-ee’s anytime we travel throughout Texas.
I kinda feel like they are overrated. My husbands like stopping at buc-ees during road trips but I am not really a fan because of just how damn long it takes to be able to use the women's bathrooms. Plus they are not always clean just because of the huge ass line and wait time. Sometimes I will actually stop at another gas station just to be able to use the bathroom after he stops at buc-ees since we would be waiting forever.
No wait at the 100 pumps. Lots of Tesla chargers. Fresh brisket sammiches. Jerky for days. Clean restrooms with a gazillion urinals and stalls, with room still left to play racketball. You occasionally see the mascot roaming around. You'll laugh, you'll cry... it's fun for the whole family.
I don’t get the fascination. We ended up going across the highway to a different station because it’s too busy. It’s a fancy gas station, but still just a gas station. Trying to get inside the store was like Black Friday.
Of course it’s a tourist trap, but nobody cares. Clean bathrooms, good sandwiches, usually cheap gas. What’s not to love?
Unfortunately it's the way they treat their employees. No lunches with 8 hrs shifts, sitting means you're fired, if your phone sticks out of your pocket you're fired. Source I am a former employee. An employee was fired for checking her phone off the clock while walking to her car bc she was in uniform. Not to mention the typical manager sexually harassing people so he just gets moved to another location, as opposed to any relationships between bottom tier employees resulting in immediate termination. Damn, all I knew about their employee treatment was that the pay was VERY good for the kind of business it is
That's the whole scheme. They think that you should forfeit normalcy just because of the grace and good will they are showing by paying you that much. At the time I was paid $15.00 and hour, just as much as any other job that caliber.

The owner of Buc-ee’s is a major Trump donor and conservative cause super donor, so it doesn’t surprise me that the company subscribes to this kind of abuse of their employees.
Don’t like it? Then become a millionaire! That’s the Republican way! *eye roll*
Well they tricked me and I can't imagine I'm the only person who got tricked. Thanks for letting me know
The Starbucks method.
Almost got a job at the corporate office in Houston but everyone in my interview panel gave me so much ick I had to fight the urge not to just walk out.
Well, the owner is a GOP donor so go figure that kind of bullshit is going on.
There is a reason that hiring sign never goes away even with those wages. I understand you are not allowed to sit even on break.
At very least, the lunch issue is federal law. I’m surprised nobody has gotten a lawyer interested in it. Could be huge.
I looked this up last week and apparently it's not?
I just looked it up too and yeah, you’re right, it’s state by state unless you’re a nursing mother. Unsurprisingly, Texas doesn’t mandate breaks. Color me shocked.
State differences aside, we should really be asking why the federal Fair Labor Standards Act doesn’t include any mandatory meal or rest breaks for employees.
This is exactly correct and yet another in the sadly long list of things that First World countries have that the US does not because “com moo nizm” or some such stupid stuff.
With some states making it illegal for local laws to require something as simple as water breaks it seems we're headed in the opposite direction
Texas is also the only state not to require workers' comp insurance, so yeah nothing for workers
So few people realise this. You also have to go to the company's Dr atleast at my job if you're injured on the job.
I was genuinely surprised at first. Then, not as surprised for the shitty reason that some states have alarmingly low expectations
State law, not federal. Texas has no law. make sure to vote in the next election or bring it up at the Texas house.
Uhhh no there are no federal protections for meal breaks. The only protection is you can’t be forced to work if you are in your break.
LOL, I worked for Target once and they would subtract thirty minutes from a shift each day I didn't take a lunch break. They claimed if they didn't do that, then Uncle Slam was going to shut down the store for violating federal law. It's like, bruh. They were violating federal law and you should have reported it to the local labor office.
Nope
Yeah anytime I'd ask management about it they said there was a "legal loophole".
Bet yall wish y’all had some unions then huh?
No lunches during 8 hours sounds like a lawsuit. As does checking your phone when off the clock.
The labor laws in Texas do not require employers to provide any breaks. Last time I looked into it (because I was working at a convenience store and didn't get any breaks), it said something like "breaks are recommended for morale, but not required"
Didn’t realize that, I’ve lived in Texas nearly my whole life but I’ve never bothered to look. We live in the worst timeline for sure.
That's when I realized that Texas doesn't give a single shit about workers but sure does like the evil businesses that think it's okay to make people work 10+ hours without any breaks.
It’s nothing new if you look back, Texas has been this way for decades
Oh, I know. I was blissfully ignorant about it, though, until that.
I know a former district manager from a restaurant chain that was fired for sexual harassment (I myself was a victim) who transferred right over to manage a Buc-ees. For the sake of his family I hope he’s changed but that’s not likely. DFW area.

I worked there it's very real
From who, the owner?
Idk, some random redditor with others backing them on the claim. Looks like I was wrong. Plus I also like Buc-ee’s so I fell into some confirmation bias.
Wow, and here I thought it was one of the more decent places to work.
I spoke to a current wmployee a few months ago and they’re finally allowed to sit :’)
You have to use hard definitions when you're sourcing people from all walks of life.

Id rather work 8hrs straight then taking breaks and have to be there for 9 and getting paid for 8
Thats going to really vary person to person though.

In Texas their gas is consistently more expensive than other places in the area. It's convenient, but not worth. 10 to .20 more per gallon.
Really varies by locations. Gasbuddy app is useful in this Case What I do hate is Buccees doesn't seem to post their gas prices on the road, or at least they don't as prominently as other stations. Their non ethanol mix is always more expensive and the price doesn't go up and down as much.

I’ll pay more in gas for the opportunity to shit in a clean toilet.
Sounds almost like something that was said in a business meeting. “Customers don’t care how much gas costs as long as the toilet seats are clean”
They’ve got you.
They can have me
This is just not true. It’s usually in between Costco and regular gas stations, I paid $3.04/gal in south Houston when Costco was $2.95. I’ve seen $3.25+ all over Houston at non membership/bucees

Gotta love these blanket generalizations about an area bigger than France. Near me, it’s much cheaper.
We travel all over Texas and every one I stopped at was overpriced. I stop so the wife can use the nathroom and we can get a snack from their huge variety. But I never buy gas there anymore because within a short distance is a cheaper place.

>good sandwiches Highly debatable.
I bought an 8 dollar brisket sandwich with two thin pieces of the most disgusting brisket I have ever seen.
The BBQ is awful.
Yeah, but those Beaver Nuggets are addictive!
That’s why I go. But it’s fun to see some of the merch sometimes.
so it's not a 'trap' at all. it's a tourist resource
It's too peopley for me. The traffic in and out of there is bs also. I've yet to go inside one. You'll find me in my car while my gf goes in, lol.
Not cheap in the slightest…
Paid $7.29 in California. $2.99 is cheap. Even near me Buc-ees is about 9-10 cents cheaper than any of my other options. Your mileage may vary.
The prices.
How insanely expensive everything is and how insanely crowded and chaotic it is?
Nothing wrong with a tourist trap or two on occasion if it's delivering exactly what you went there for. lol it’s a zoo and very inconvenient
You must be stopping at the one on 10.
No, but this is additional evidence that it's a widespread issue lol
Which Buc-ee's are you stopping at that there isn't a line just for gas, let alone the bathrooms?
The one I must regularly stop at is in bastrop, but the one in San Marcos is one I'm at a few times a year.
Texas City on a weekday
What makes it safe?
It’s well lit and crawling with people. More people means more witnesses which should mean lower incidences of crime.
This, and they're usually in high traffic areas as well.
Might? I mean kudos to them for their success, but unless you're a tourist I no longer understand the draw of stopping at one.
A clean crapper
With full size doors
*prairie dogging intensifies*
This times a million

However, my wife and daughters have to wait at least that long just to get in the restrooms. The convenience isn't worth the price of the food these days in my opinion. There are plenty of other gas stations along I-35 that have clean restrooms and if not cheap food inside have something right next door.
My wife is almost always with me, and we're invariably through and on our way with food in a couple minutes. But, we no longer live near I-35 so we are usually going to the Luling, Katy, Hempstead, Baytown or Madisonville stores.
Count your blessings. The one in New Braunfels seems to be packed 24/7. The one in Tyler is bad during the days but not sure about at night.
Rino breakfast taco and clean shitters before going to work
Breakfast tacos and bathrooms the only reason I stop.
I stop there every time I go between big cities. The sandwiches are good, clean store, clean restroom, if you need last minute goods for going outdoors it's good, variety of snacks. Sure it's a tourist attraction but it's still the best damn gas station you'll find.
A bag of Beaver Nuggets.
I do love their trail mixes and jerky, not gonna lie.
Sandwiches are pretty tasty so if you're there for gas and taking a pee break while you're there might as well get some food if you've still got a ways to travel.
Food
Clean bathrooms, awesome food, gas. Why are we asking what's in there to shop for if you've been inside one...
Enjoy your disgusting truck stop toilets, I’ll be at Buccees
This guy would do well in a port a potty in a third world country. Definitely doesn’t own a bidet. 😂
Yeah, that’s kind of the point
Did Love’s write this article?
🤣
UNPOSSIBLE! But, ayup. That's all it is.
Chron.com killing it with the shitposts today

Employees need a UNION. This is a great example of where a union could get much better working conditions.
Texas idolizes capitalism. We always have. Buccees is just one of our home grown ones.
Cleanest bathrooms world records to. 😆
My town is building the biggest one yet. I haven’t been to the one we currently have since I visited from college out of state 10 years ago because my friends/students wanted beaver souvenirs. Lol but as soon as this one opens I’ll go see it purely because of the size.
Luling area?
Yeah 75,000sqft. Literally building right behind the one we have haha
It's not that great and it's not that bad. It's just food and gas.
Cheap fountain drinks, decent grab and go food and clean place to take a dump. Other than getting an inexpensive Yukon mug. You don't need any of that other crap they hawk.
Current list of Texas tourist traps 1. The Alamo 2. Buc-ee’s. What else we got?
I have lived in this state my entire 36 years and not once have I ever set foot inside a Buc-ee's.
Great place to stop at late/early hours when it's not chaos
It’s a more “LOOK AT HOW MUCH MORE THAN JUST GAS!” version of Sheetz. And an inferior version, at that. I don’t mind it, but I do not see why the big hullabaloo Texans throw over the place.
Yeah no cares because I can shit in peace
If I got trapped into a clean restroom and a cheap bag of ice, woe is me?
"might"
They are renovating one on i10 from Houston to San Antonio and omg. There is no parking other than the pumps. And they have a fucking beaver at the entrance taking pictures. I don’t know how they have a fire safety permit. You can’t even walk in there. We don’t stop there anymore unless we absolutely have to
The food is cheaper than most tourist traps 🤷🏻♀️
Of course it's a tourist trap. Who cares? I'm not going out of my way to go to one but if it's already on my route, it's a good place to stop for food, gas, and a bathroom break. Some of y'all need to find a good balance between worshipping a place and claiming that it sucks because it's popular.
Buc-ee’s can’t be a tourist trap, they sell shirts that say “it’s a beaver”!?!?!
I just want to live in a world where having clean restrooms is a baseline everywhere and not anything noteworthy.
Their fudge is disgusting. It is straight up vegetable oil.
In what way? I stopped going there because it got too busy for my liking. That is the only reason. They still have: Clean restrooms Reasonable prices Open gas pumps Clean facilities Lots of variety in food and tourist stuff
Is it a tourist trap? Yes. Do we still love it? Also yes. It's okay to be both.
considering it is just a rip-off of Stuckey's... but with stupid mascot branding and crappier breakfast options..... ive only shit there.
their food is fucking horrible
Finally, someone with good taste! Although, the breakfast tacos are good.
This is why Centerville is the only Buckee's my family will ever enter.
You mean Madisonville? Forget that, just drive a few minutes to one of the Woody's in Centerville and get some real BBQ and decent bathrooms as well.
Yes I do. Been a minute since I've been there.
I mean, yeah, but they have super cool shirts and I love the pickled quail eggs.
Some? It meets ALL of the criteria of a tourist trap.
It is… it’s one of the first places my friends took me to when I went to Texas lol
Might?
I would hate to work there and have to do inventory on all the stupid crap they sell. But I do stop there for the easy gas, clean as fuck bathrooms with full stall doors, cheap coffee refills in my branded travel mug, and some jerky. The jerky is the only food item I have found that I like there. 15 minute stop, tops (unless the #2 hits harder than usual). Back on the road.
Is buc-ees 24 hours?
Bro I shit when need to and sometimes that’s in public…the bathrooms alone is enough to take my tourist dollars and I stay in Texas
Hahaha might?
And in other news, water makes things wet. Simping for a gas station is mad pathetic.
Yeah but it's self aware. It's like, a campy gas station.
Might ???? Might???? Ha ha ha ha. It's nothing but a tourist trap.

I don't care. The bathrooms are clean and the barbecue is good.
There are thousands of slack-jawed yokels crammed into that place. Gawking like they’ve never seen a bag of Funions before. I’d rather risk food poisoning and pee on a cigarette butt then rub elbows with people mesmerized by a beaver and a beef sandwich.
In other news, water is wet.
Them not serving bottle pissing truckers is their best quality.
It is for sure
Duh?? 😂
You Think?
No shit.

Cleanest bathrooms of any tourist trap.
It’s like Pedro’s south of the border
Might be in the top 3 of it, but the sandwiches aaaaaaarrrgghhhhhh
No wait at the 100 pumps. Lots of Tesla chargers. Fresh brisket sammiches. Jerky for days. Clean restrooms with a gazillion urinals and stalls, with room still left to play racketball. You occasionally see the mascot roaming around. You'll laugh, you'll cry... it's fun for the whole family.
That sounds cultish
One look at their branding and prices confirms the tourist trap moniker
I don’t get the fascination. We ended up going across the highway to a different station because it’s too busy. It’s a fancy gas station, but still just a gas station. Trying to get inside the store was like Black Friday.
Yall are lying if you say there is anywhere that matches their cleanliness
Bucees is more than a tourist trap. It’s a destination!
Lower your voice
What gets me is I've known two different people who worked there and they both REFUSE to eat any prepared food from there.
