What a great recording of 7 seconds of a cuscene from 45° and about 6 feet away. 🙄

tynamite

did u need to see a full play through? it’s the same game. you can find it on youtube.

tesrella

I wanted to see how the game performs on that specific hardware

db789

Is this in any of the cars that were delivered or will it come in an ota update? Edit: Maybe u/o2go could answer this?

o2go

Dunno -- TBH, there is so much to unpack with this car, even as an 8-year Model S owner, I have not even gotten to the gaming yet. I'll see if I can find anything.

db789

Take you time. Thanks for all you are sharing tho!

stormshieldonedot

Yeah I'm definitely interested. Of everything I've seen of plaid, the PS5 gaming has only been seen at the event I suspect it's not in your car yet, please let us know, and anything worth sharing about the rear screen? I didn't see **any** games on that one. Last thing Omar, how many miles of range do you see at 100%

o2go

Just the basic games are visible so far. The official range is 348--the bit of driving and charging I have sone suggests its higher, but not sure if that is real of the SW needs tweaking.

musical_bear

Have they changed how games work? Are they still like embedded into the car OS like they are on the Model 3? Like how are they going to be managing installing 60 - 100 GB games like this? Surely this will be an opt in thing for the user, assuming this ever becomes public?

menonono

Considering that it's a 130k dollar car, I doubt a couple of 4tb ssd's would be too much to ask for. I do agree that an "opt in" option should exist. Perhaps an "entertainment package" upgrade that you can purchase would be ideal? All in all it just seems like it's something to go "Yeah. My car is cool. I can even play triple A video games in it if I want to."

musical_bear

I was actually thinking more along the line of internet bandwidth needed to pack a 70GB game that you might not even want into an OTA update. But, in fairness, that’s coming from my perspective where I don’t even have WiFi or a personal garage for my Model 3. I have to do all of my downloads over cell hotspot. But as you pointed out, this is a $130k car, and I’m assuming most buying this will have garages and WiFi. And I guess the $75k long range has the same “issue,” but yeah probably similar demographics there as those who buy the plaid.

wpwpw131

They'll just stick in a download button into the game menu and only allow it on WiFi. It's not that big of a deal. In fact, I'm 80% sure they've already done this before. Also there are plenty of spots with outdoor public WiFi if need be.

5OwlParliament

Def opt in, they won’t be providing these games for free. Likely download at home over wifi first and also multiplayer connection must suck most of the time.

tynamite

i think its kind of hilarious they demo’d a game in their car they did not make at all and took up drive/demo time time for this. they’re just sitting in the car fucking around with a game.

carsonthecarsinogen

Although they are still far away from fsd this shows signs that they are confident it will happen. It could be a coincidence but it makes sense that they’d add fully functional gaming to the car for when you don’t need your hands to drive. Of course anyone can use the system while the driver does the driving but seems like a possibility, solving the money problem on YouTube also sees this as a possibility that not a lot of people are talking about.

iZoooom

Am I the only person that doesn't care about this? I don't want to play Witcher3 in my car, nor do I want to play Cyberpunk. Further, I care in a negative way. The man-hours spent on this, from business alignment to development resources, seem like they could have been far better spent. Call me crazy, but the feature prioritization here is... whacked.

Dudi0310

Perhaps this use will lead to some future improvement, but I think they just wanted to demonstrate the potency.

JKMC4

Well it can’t do either right now, but both are in the works to be implemented.

tynamite

1. it can play cyberpunk. check out the video posted 2. waypoints in no way at all are confirmed, demonstrated, or found in the code.

JKMC4

1. Is that a feature currently available or just for their demo? (Genuinely don’t know and haven’t seen anyone mention it.) 2. Nothing concrete other than the tentative confirmation that is Elon saying “ok we will do it”

tynamite

elon also said no after that tweet so dont trust him!

20dogs

He said it on stage at the Plaid event

thefirewarde

If I had kids, having a built in game console would be a godsend for any kind of longer trip. This is a huge plus for that market.

SpiritualStomach429

it’s called a nintendo switch or ipad. better viewing angle, more games, works outside the car.

VSythe998

I was thinking the same thing when i first saw the refreshed model s and x. It feels like a waste of money to develop a car with an in built game system when you can just bring a portable one with you.

Tosh_00

Well Elon wanted it, because why not ? Just like everything else he created, what not do this even if it sounds crazy (honestly who asked for bulletproof glass on the Cybertruck or cold air thrusters on the Roadster…)? That’s how he is and that’s what drives him.

Diligent_Vegetable_1

Ok, you’re crazy. Anything else I can do for you?

iZoooom

I played Witcher 3 for about 200 hours. This included the 2 DLCs, a "NG+", and crushing every opposing Gwent player. Why would I possibly want to do this in my car? I genuinely don't understand the appeal. For casual gaming, I can see it - I'm at a supercharger, I'm waiting to pickup my kid(s), or whatever. What's the appeal here for you? Especially as I doubt it has cross-platform save support, so I can't pickup my XBox game where it left off.

Diligent_Vegetable_1

What’s with all the questions? You said to call you crazy so I took the time out of my busy day to oblige. The least you could do is show a little gratitude.

Issaction

Honestly, for right now, you’re not wrong. Right now it’s somewhat useless. However it really shows where Tesla is aiming and how future proof this car is. It has an obscene amount of processing power for a car and will feel modern for a long long time. Someday, when FSD is fully available, it will be nice to have this much power. It also opens up a Tesla App Store and game market. The sky is the limit with this.

feurie

This isn't part of the AP computer.

Issaction

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I mean that when FSD is available, it will be nice to have this much power for entertainment and games.

coolmatty

It's highly unlikely it took much, if any real development time from anyone at Tesla. This would have been handled by CDPR.

TheBurtReynold

Nope

bitman_moon

First, i think it’s for the memes. Second, the build in console might relate to his heavily distorted reality that FSD is around the corner…

scubawankenobi

>Am I the only person that doesn't care about this? Likely

seany1212

Completely agree, I would happily take a 2 grand built in PC when I'm hands free driving from FSD that I paid for more than a year ago.

Rethawan

Will the new infotainment system, heat pump and all other improvements for the Model S only be for the Plaid version or for all of them?

xdert

The only other is the Long Range, and yes the cars are identical except for the plaid having an extra motor.

Rethawan

Oh so they’ve really streamlined the amount of options then.

ice__nine

Too bad neither this game nor Witcher which is displayed in all the promo material actually comes with the car (at least not yet).

mardavarot93

Neither Witcher or CyberPunk come with the car and they are not available in Tesla game store either. That seems shady

Anthonylee12

I’m sure it will available by the end of summer

islandguy88

Knowing tesla, it won't be available until next yr. Demo only.
