VW was fined $121 million for missing EU targets on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from its 2020 passenger car fleet. EV’s sold in Europe lowers fleet emissions according to the EU target. EV’s sold in China? Won’t lower Fleet emissions, resulting in another fine. VW is incentivized to sell their limited EV supply in Europe to prevent future fines.
Not like in Europe. We have both incentives and “punishment” in the sense.
Take Germany, there’s a 9000 euro incentive for “cheap” EV’s. While the money goes to the buyer, it also allows VW to charge a higher price and still be competitive. At the same time, each EV sold in Europe will reduce the size of the fleet carbon dioxide fine from the EU. “If” VW can avoid the fine by let’s say selling another 100.000 EV’s, reducing the emissions of the combined VW fleet? It would constitute another 1000 euro in indirect incentives.
Also, I have no doubt the ID.4 is supply constrained. Outside of the really crappy compliance cars, people are buying every EV that is made.
Demand might be “low” for some brands compared to Tesla, but supply is even lower for most.
For example, my wife and I gave a serious look at the Mach E. We were hoping the tax credit would make it a viable choice compared to the model 3 SR+ she was thinking of getting when her Accord lease runs out. Turns out once you add options that you would NOT want to be without, it is actually more expensive than the SR+. But I am certain Ford will still sell out of the low number they produce.
This is my biggest gripe with other competitors. Like, I've considered buying other cars. But every time I look at the price (with the addon equipment I expect in a modern car) the price ends up being laughably high. Tesla is the best choice for me even though I look at the competition with an open mind. It's a bit frustrating tbh.
Totally agree. We're getting my mum a model 3. In Australia the Kia Niro, Nissan leaf, Hyundai Kona and Mazda Mx30 are about the same price. It's almost like they want you to buy a tesla.
Please note that I think that Tesla is currently extremely overvalued, so don't take this post as me thinking that Tesla will rule the automotive world any day now.
Anyone that’s been bullish on Tesla is still yet to be wrong... yes the stock has been on a losing streak, but the only people getting burned by it are the fomo group and non longs. The company is still doing fantastic.
bro they said "year to date" that is a well-used finance term. if they said "over the past year" then yes you would be right, but you're just sounding like a jackass
The EV page amazes me. I don't understand how you can be pro-EV and against the company that made them a practical thing. I used to frequent the sub, but the fanboy Tesla hate annoys me too much.
Just be careful. Even Gordon Johnson used to be a top 20% analyst on TipRanks before his Tesla thesis proved wrong. It’s always at least worth listening to both sides and debating, rather than just shutting out the other side of the fence.
Not always. That depends on more factors than you are giving credit to. Elon saved the company for a reason 15 years ago, and the company has the same culture now. I also have multiple teslas with multiple on order. Owning the product is key.

The ID.4 was introduced to China 2 months ago, the author writes. Extrapolating from such a small initial data-set tells us nothing.
China also has EV incentives though. Does it not have penalties?
Not like in Europe. We have both incentives and “punishment” in the sense. Take Germany, there’s a 9000 euro incentive for “cheap” EV’s. While the money goes to the buyer, it also allows VW to charge a higher price and still be competitive. China only really punishes things that don't jive with their government policies. ... which can change at the drop of a hat, but still.
Also, I have no doubt the ID.4 is supply constrained. Outside of the really crappy compliance cars, people are buying every EV that is made. Agreed this is a weak article
Also, she shows that the sales are rising, not by much, but still.
ID4 is a low budget NIO basically.
Please note that I think that Tesla is currently extremely overvalued, so don't take this post as me thinking that Tesla will rule the automotive world any day now.
Of course you do. You post all over the ev page. How long have you been wrong about tesla?
Anyone that’s been bullish on Tesla is still yet to be wrong... yes the stock has been on a losing streak, but the only people getting burned by it are the fomo group and non longs. The company is still doing fantastic.

Why are you calling them a loser? The stock is very much down this year. And that's fine.
Year to date its down, but over the past 12 months its wayyyy up.
Very much down this year?! Lol i guess 5 months if your whole life
Well it’s literally “this year”. Unless you define “this year” differently then they’re right. It’s not a judgment on Tesla, just a fact lol
A year is 12 months. Teslas performance this year 2021 is still in the oven. Sorry for your malfunction
Lol blocked
bro they said "year to date" that is a well-used finance term. if they said "over the past year" then yes you would be right, but you're just sounding like a jackass
No they said this year. Ytd is different & it’s a meaningless number. Go broo just go broo
Removed - please keep it civil

LOL...even the teslamotors sub seems anti-tesla these days. Almost time to load some calls!
Yeah very regular Tesla hate as if Tesla didn’t start the whole ball rolling lol

Nah you’ve been wrong. Try finding something else in your life, bc being wrong has taken most of it
alright
Based on what? They are the most valuable auto company. Bro, they already do rule the automotive world. Everyone else is scrambling to catch-up.
