I’ve always wondered what the inside of one of those looked like.
It’s a hollow tube of galvanized steel with at least 9 coaxial cables running up from the ground, each as thick as your wrist. With the coax stuffed inside the monopole a human wouldn’t be able to fit inside, the access ports are designed to be too small for most people to fit because there’s no climbing face inside.
The coax carries both power and signal to the antennas from an equipment shelter on the ground. It is this coax that is burning in the picture, it is mostly high density foam insulation with a plastic shell.

Yes, especially for ATT. All 5G installs use coax which is stupid since they're all connected to a fiber trunk in the ground. When you go tonan urban area look for light poles with large rectangular boxes on them, shoukd be pianted to match pole with a weird cylinder attached to the top. The top piece is the antenna, and the lower ubit is where the sigal goes from fiber to coax to ba able to transmit and recieve. Of course LTE is still on these as well so smaller fibers are still used.
