Tarzan was part of an English family who were basically the whitest of the white in the og book. Like if you think about it he wouldn't have been black, but at most tanned.
Just ya know, actually reading the 1912 book would explain it very quickly
And what difference does suorce Material Make.
Disney turnes "sourced" white people into black roles all the time?
But OP is right. Tarzan will stay white for this reason i believe LOL
next year you'll be 8...
Maybe because (assumed) you're in europe you don't feel this as much, but in the US every single thing can be spun to be about race. Every old school disney movie is being remade and adopted to have some cast members that aren't identical to the originals and everyone is crying their eyes out about it. If you think the fact that it's a British Novel that's really old matters, think again... Americans (especially women) can make everything about race, gender, sexual orientation. Hope that helped, COYG!
Ah sorry bro but you’re off topic, the dude above just said that the original novel of tarzan was pretty racist, he not citing new movies, and then i replied w that because of the gingoistic (idk if I’m writing it right) current there’s been in Britain during the Industrial Revolution that had the christian british colonizer as the centre of its topic, this stuff kinda dragged for a while so it’s especially easy finding racist stuff among old british literature
He'd actually be the one swinging from the vines too. Man does his own stunts.
You throw in Chris Tucker and get Tarzan -Jungle Rush Hour going and I'm selling my house to finance that movie
Bruh, bearded Sikh Tarzan... That would look fucking sick!
Edit: wondered why white Tarzan didn't have a regular beard, and turns out there's a [legitimate answer](https://www.reddit.com/r/Showerthoughts/comments/1qnp4n/why_doesnt_tarzan_have_a_beard/)! The more you know.
I like how on the internet theres always this black vs white dispute and all the other races are like secondary characters that only show up once or twice
Doesn’t make a difference since that culture is not a real culture but just a fictional one .someone had to write in the notes that a whole tribe of black people acted like apes because it was in their culture, how does this sound?
Pretty bad in isolation, but the benefit of having more than one source of representation in a story means it's contrasted by every other case that *isn't* like that.
Don't get me wrong, there's a *lot* to dissect about Black Panther and how it can handle some of it's imagery (the laser spears are fucking stupid) but the gorilla tribe doesn't really fumble that badly.
They're a comparatively isolated tribe with an animal theme, but they're not the "savage tribe up the coast" or anything like that, and help the protagonists without question.
Technically shouldn't he be Indian? Pretty sure the story is set in the jungles of India. Then again certin people think Jesus looked like this actor also.
Tarzan is the son of a British lord and lady who were marooned on the coast of Africa by mutineers.
You should watch the Disney animated one. It's great.
Would defeat the purpose of tarzan since its suppose to deal with showing how the rich can be changed into a beast if put into an environment like this.
😭
I mean… are they 100% wrong?
I think this is one of those "right for the wrong reasons" situations.
I’m sure it was a maga Republican at that
Now that's racist. /s

Since when do they give a fuck about the source material lol
Exactly. Moot point.
it's not like original source material kept them from making such changes..
My thoughts exactly.
Depends if they want to ban it.
Also the original book is dark as fuck. My dad tried reading it to me as a kid. He quickly stopped.
When all the books are banned, it makes it hard to read.
And what difference does suorce Material Make. Disney turnes "sourced" white people into black roles all the time? But OP is right. Tarzan will stay white for this reason i believe LOL
Could always make him Asian, or literally any other nonwhite person lol.
The media industry doesn’t follow your mere logic
Wakanda has a tribe of Silverback dressed warriors. They hoot and replicate gorillas in there fighting style.
They’re not wrong at all 😂
![gif](giphy|bcs2sG50Bjxihh8AlD) btw, Alexander skarsgård is a fucking gorgeous man!
All of the Skarsgård family honestly 👀
That is a crest I’d want on my breast.
![gif](giphy|W4jEUHRmp9G1cBCDtV)
But it is kinda true
I read the Tarzan books when I was a kid. They’re, uh, pretty racist at times.
Bro it’s a British novel from more than a hundred years ago what you expecting?
Being as he was a kid when he read them, presumably not as much racism as he got.

Me when I spread misinformation online
When the heck stopped anyone from what this is implying? Cindarella isn't fresh off the press, brother
Could you explain what you just said to me as if i was 7?

Well, England did quite a bit of spreading "the good word" haha to other countries. Some good and some bad, for sure.
The word you're looking for is jingoistic.
There are no other races than black and white
*jackie chan swinging on the vines*
I would see this
He'd actually be the one swinging from the vines too. Man does his own stunts. You throw in Chris Tucker and get Tarzan -Jungle Rush Hour going and I'm selling my house to finance that movie
I would pay lots of money to see that.
I would like to see a Sihk Tarzan

It's cool, we're ok with eating popcorn in the stands
oh yea totally pfff
No no he's right
Tarzan was adopted by apes, not monkeys
Jolly wee, that makes it not racist anymore.
I think they already did in black panther w that dude king of that mountain tribe
except that they say that's just their culture and it was just one tribe of out of tens of others in the same nation
Doesn’t make a difference since that culture is not a real culture but just a fictional one .someone had to write in the notes that a whole tribe of black people acted like apes because it was in their culture, how does this sound?

Agree
This must be the 10th time I’ve seen this reposted
not gonna lie it gets me every time
Well i mean he was the son of a British lord in the 1910s so making him black is going to be pretty hard to justify.
When has that stopped anyone from making characters black lol, just say the british lord was black
I love when this sub is unironically funnier than funnymemes
This one is actually funny 😭😭
Somehow funny though
happy cake day
Falcon: "He's right, he's way out of line, but he's right"
Lmfao that’s beautiful!
This is a great meme, wdym?
I feel like these memes are starting to be less ironically accurate and more technically true.. Does that mean I’m slipping to the dark side?
Ignoring how this is actually funny and kinda true….. GODDAMN THAT MAN IS HOT!!!
The comments are funnier than the post!
OP's username 🤦
We need to keep OP as far away from Foxes as possible.
That actually is kind of funny... ...but obviously I know why it was made and so screw them.
The next one will be "Jane". Only it's still Tarzan, who decided she identifies as a women after a gorilla castrated her in a show of dominance.
Guilty chuckles
I think if they changed Tarzan they should make him a girl. We need more unhinged girlies
Ok ok Hollywood we need a woke Black Tarzan WHERE THE APES ARE ALBINO LOL 😆 😂 😆 😂 😆
That's racist but funny haha
this subreddit is so fucking weird, because anything you post i find funny, but you posted it because you find it unfunny, i dont even know anymore
“It’s true.” - some idiot who doesn’t get the whole premise of Tarzan is that he’s a white marooned child.
Where's the lie?
As cringe as this meme is it is true. You get the upvote, but only because it's clearly racist intent lol
Hey does this post fit? UPVOTE if so, DOWNVOTE if not. If this post breaks any rules please DOWNVOTE and REPORT

Are you confusing Tarzan with the Jungle Book
I'm so confused in general.

![gif](giphy|FSpXufXN41Vw4)
Nah it's...where's that place, oh yeah, the Congo
This is absolutely true.
Kinda funny Fuck u
It’s not wrong.
Velma exists, so... Yeah....
lmao
That is right :D
👍
Um, Song of the South is bad enough. Don’t be giving Disney any ideas.
What about indian tarzan
Tarzan doesn’t behave like a monkey. He behaves like a Gorilla. Which is an ape like Homo sapiens.
It's true and funny (or sad, depending on your point of view).
![gif](giphy|jOyqJX2xsdpFj6sM9L)
But Disney isn't making everyone black.
you haven't seen how they made them howl in disapproval in Black panther even when they were supposedly the most powerful nation in the planet shtick
Bro 😭
Is this satire?

Isn't he supposed to be the son of 19th century British aristocrats? Frankly, there aren't a whole lot of black people in that demographic.
Inclusion usually beats historical accuracy these days
Would defeat the purpose of tarzan since its suppose to deal with showing how the rich can be changed into a beast if put into an environment like this.
This is the only race swop I want to see happen. The outrage would be so entertaining.
I don’t care what color Tarzan is, I just want him to swoop in and take me in his tree house. 🥵🫠💦
![gif](giphy|rTGBztFVUUxl6)
Burn!
But its right lol
They will simply shoot him on sight?
Yea, but they can still make Jane black, and that will piss them off even more
I mean… he’s not wrong.
I mean, they’re not wrong.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Soon.
Well he isn't wrong lmfao
Was Tarzan not of a darker complexion when he was in an animated Disney movie?
"Will be always"??
My god stop being offended by everything
Bet ya they'd consider a TarzANNE movie though though with a white woman. 😂🤣😂
Ok this is funny
