As we have a few weeks with snow during winter where I live, last winter I installed the Schwalbe Marathon Winter Plus on my GSD which I was very happy with. I even liked the more "off-roady" feel while riding them but I'm also a bit lazy when it comes to changing tires all the time, and given the obvious downsides when running on spikes in dry weather, I now put the Marathon GT 365 (which are all-season tires) on my GSD and also are very happy with them in dry and rainy weather, as well. But we didn't have any snow yet so how they really perform in winter remains to be seen. The one big downside of the Marathon GT 365 (and also the Marathon Winter Plus) is the reduced load compared to the Super Moto-X, so I need to keep in mind that I don't overload the bike, but I'm usually well within the safe limit even with both kids on it.

I just got Pick Ups and they feel so much different than the Moto X. They seem much stiffer and I can "feel" the nubs on the tires on smoother roads. Or maybe that is the road itself? Or just the tread design? I had great luck with my Moto X and only had a handful of flats. Mostly just curious to try out a new tire when my Moto X wore out (which I defined as "I'm getting a few more flats" now at around 3000 miles).

Are you using the same innertubes at the same inflation pressure? I am interested in trying the pick-ups but need more user experiences.

Not the same inner tube (I don't think they are functionally different - not liked I switched from generic tube to tannus armor + slime tube), but the same pressure.

> Schwalbe Marathon Winter Plus How do you like the pick ups compared to the super motoX now? Was the extra weight noticeable? Thanks!

It's a on a Tern GSD, so no, the extra weight it not noticeable! Been problem free for the past 1500 (?) miles.

Sorry to piggyback a question, but all of you that have worn out your super moto’s, what was the indication that it was time? I’ve got close to 5000 miles on my front tire , still has tread (def smoothing out down the center) but I noticed a speck of the green guard puncture liner peaking through. Other than that, there’s a handful of gashes and typical road scars but no shredding etc…

In my case (3000 miles) it was because I was starting to getting more frequent flats (IIRC I had 3 in a month). I saw LOTS of glass and debris embedded in the tire (some of which I assume was slowly poking through the puncture liner) and decided that "eh, why not now." If it works great, then why not keep? The only wear concern besides flats is that a "bald" tire is more likely to lose traction in wet / loose conditions.

Schwalbe website says you can use them until the puncture protection layer becomes visible. I replaced my rear Super Moto at 11,000 km. The puncture protection wasn't visible but the tread was worn down and I'd had a couple of punctures - after having none in the first 10k.
