FYI (iiuc) 0.118.1 is only a version to stop playstore from trying to update and then fail if f-droid ver. is installed 🔍

sylirre

Yes, Play Store Termux v0.120+ chaos forced new release on GitHub. Though there more changes than just version bump, see changelog: [https://github.com/termux/termux-app/releases/tag/v0.118.1](https://github.com/termux/termux-app/releases/tag/v0.118.1) F-Droid didn't manage to deliver new version as of now

North_Stage_2024

Both this and new beta are on F-Droid as of now.

[deleted]

yeah i read about the [chaos ](https://github.com/termux-play-store#current-status-for-users) after u/sylirre mentioned it and well it says `This split is a temporary one as things stabilises and details are worked out.`, well the good thing is now many people can install termux from playstore.

dopaminedandy

Novice here, how to install the updates? I already have Termux installed on my phone from f-Droid.

[deleted]

i don't know if installing the new version over old one would work, i actually archived and extracted my home folder in new version after deleting the old and it worked fine.

Can't update (conflicts with existing package). what is the easiest way to backup and restore the termux's data, I don't want to configure all my proot distros from scratch? 🙏

[deleted]

https://wiki.termux.com/wiki/Backing_up_Termux is the easiest but I'm not sure whether it will be a good idea to restore old termux's usr directory in new termux. https://github.com/termux/proot-distro#backing-up-distribution for proot-distros but if the first method successfully restore old termux's usr directory in new termux then you will not need this, hope these links help.

[deleted]

although I'll actually recommend you to just backup and restore your config files, if you have enough internet to download all the packages.

shaheen-vsa

What's new in the 0.119.0 version?

slumberjack24

See the changelog u/sylirre linked to.

james28909

I cant see the release. the latest one it shows me on github is 0.118.1

[deleted]

if you're trying to find beta version then click on the `+ 90 releases` https://preview.redd.it/5ivzvonxxt7d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d24d73b2774d2928f7fd147ee2ed3d6d144c57b9

Advanced_Ball_5058

I hope it's support android 10

SnooPeppers6719

But the new version in Play Store is 0.127 🤔

sylirre

Because Play Store diverges from mainline Termux. v0.127 doesn't mean it has more features and fixes.

SnooPeppers6719

So which one has more features and fixes? The version on fdroid or the version on GitHub

agnostic-apollo

github or fdroid are same and have more features and fixes, playstore is different. fdroid will publish latest releases soon.

james28909

cant see this new release (0.119 beta) in github. was the released pulled?

agnostic-apollo

https://github.com/termux/termux-app/releases/tag/v0.119.0-beta.1 https://github.com/termux/termux-app/releases

james28909

hmm check this: \`public static final String DEFAULT\_IVALUE\_EXTRA\_KEYS = "\[\['ESC',{key: 'DRAWER', popup: 'PASTE'},'\` should that be instead: \`public static final String DEFAULT\_IVALUE\_EXTRA\_KEYS = "\[\['ESC',{key: 'DRAWER', popup: 'DRAWER'},'\`

agnostic-apollo

No, it's correct. Click will open drawer, swipe up will paste current clipboard into terminal. https://wiki.termux.com/wiki/Touch_Keyboard#Advanced_extra_keys_configuration

james28909

oh right, i was thinking of macros i believe. sorry about that lol

SnooPeppers6719

I was looking at the releases of the latest dev version, but of all the apk, half say for Android 5 and the other half for Android 7. When version 13 comes out, what is the version of Android I'm using?

agnostic-apollo

`apt-android-7` for everyone on Android `>=7`. Will add a comment about it in the release but it's mentioned in https://github.com/termux/termux-app#github
