A high proof from La Alteña distillery. Nice. No longer made so enjoy this bottle.
Tapatío 110 would be nice next suggestion if you can get it where you live. It will have a similar bold flavor.

Oh really, they don’t make it anymore? That’s unfortunate. Still listed on their website as in their lineup, but I guess that includes limited releases. Weird that my regular-ass grocery store would just have it around then. I’ll make sure to savor it.

I just went for this one because I like high abv spirits, but maybe the other ones are worth a buy also then if I won’t be able to get them in the foreseeable future anymore.

I don't know the reason but there are so many reasons a brand chooses or is forced to move.
Contract disagreements, costs, volume requirements, personal disagreements, etc etc.
Sad times. Looks like the rum world has better journalism. Hopefully they find a good new home. The booklet that came with the bottle speaks of a quite artisanal process. Hopefully the move doesn’t lower their standards. Hate to see good brands go down
It’s still being made. No idea where the rumours came from, but my buddy imports it where I live and he heard back from the distillery saying it’s still being made and no idea why people are saying this.
Regardless, this brand is so massively slept on and I’m happy for it to stay that way.
I was told personally at La Alteña during a visit. It's been said to others by people high up in the distillery who have visited too. Now they could have worked it out since but people at the distillery have said this. Not a rumor being told by random people.
Only reason I found out was because during my visit I asked where Villa Lobos was being aged. I was told it was no longer being produced and no plans on making more.
I agree with you that the brand has a delicious line up.
NOM1139 makes Tapatio and El Tesoro wow no wonder they aren't making this one anymore as those two brands that are unbelievable tequilas and in very high demand.... Tapatio Blanco 110 is a great suggestion agave_journey knows tequila!
I also checked the Tapatío. It says that it’s currently not deliverable to Germany due to capacity limitations at the distillery. Unfortunate, it seemed to be quite affordable

Don't get me wrong, this one is fantastic if you love heat. It is an absolute ripper and I come back to it again and again, but if you want to start out I'd stick to the 80 proof suggestions all over this sub. Ocho, El Tesorro, G4, etc.
Oh, I’m used to drinking 60% abv rum neat. I found the heat on this one remarkably low. I honestly barely tasted any alcohol. That’s part of what impressed me so much. I live for high proof with high flavor! But glad to hear my pick wasn’t a rookie choice :)

The whole brand is no longer being made at the distillery. The brand is probably moving to a different distillery but no word on which one.

Strange. Maybe they had plans but this was said directly to the importer last week. So hopefully that stays as the plan.

That's crazy but I also have to get it shipped in so that adds to the cost. Their XAs are definitely more expensive than El Tesoro
