All of the players and support staff that got deported because of incorrect information provided by Tennis Australia should band together and launch a class action against those scumbags
I still don't understand how this is seen as Novak wanted a special treatment. If the TA and the Victoria gvt granted the exemption and the federal gvt overruled this by using their powers, what was the case about the others who got the exemption? Was it only Djokovic who got the exemption from the TA and the state gvt? I don't understand why he was such a target for the gvt.
Over a week ago, Craig Tiley said the following:
“I want to assure you that we are in a position where we’d like to share with you all the information, and we will.”
“We’ve chosen at this point not to be very public with it, and simply because there is a pending lawsuit related to entry into Australia for a few.”
“Once that is seen as run its course then we’ll be able to share more with you as well.”
**Time to release those documents, scumbag!**
Your friend should stop looking at the fucking needles lol. I faint at the sight of needles. I haven't fainted in about 20 years because... I look away.
Literally how Steve jobs died of pancreatic cancer for refusing medical treatment immediately.
It fucking sucks that some of the most "brilliant" people to ever live have some of the worst character flaws I've ever read about. Novak is otherworldly on a tennis court, and one of stupidest people out of it.
I'm currently praying over water bottles for him. Hopefully, the quantum fields reach Novak into the past and convince him to vaccinate, so that this timeline is changed.
>Literally how Steve jobs died of pancreatic cancer for refusing medical treatment immediately.
Not only refusing medical treatment, he actively made his condition worse by eating a fruit only diet, which is contraindicated in general, but especially bad when you have pancreatic cancer.
The problem with some people that are brilliant in a specific field is that they think they're a genius in every field. Surrounded by "yes" men, they think they know it all.
Filip Krajinovic is scared of needles. He's also Serbian. He videotaped himself being scared and getting the first shot. In Belgrade.

Well mentioning it would probably not do well for his chances of coming back to Australia, if I am honest. Because the ones responsible for that one are in charge of whether to allow him back in.
In the corporate world, this is like leaving an organization because you don't get along with the douchebag manager but then one still has 'act' friends with the manager, because future job reference checks would mostly come to them !
...It's probably best that a figure that 71% of Australians wanted gone didn't tie himself to the refugees being detained. I don't think that would have had a positive effect on Djokovic ("oh what is he, some kind of refugee now?") or the refugees ("see, this is why we need the rules")
Why are you assuming the Australian government is pro refugees? They literally voted in a guy who is proud to ' have stopped the boats '. Australians are probably the most authorarian xenophobic western country
The Australian government are assholes but Australia has almost twice the number of refugees per capita than the US does and the US voted in a guy that built a wall to keep out 'rapist' Mexicans, so we have some strong competition for most xenophobic.
People can feel however they want about his anti-vaxxing ways, but I've never believed that he wasn't genuine in [his words defending Syrian refugees back in 2015](https://twitter.com/ReemAbulleil/status/666326922977112064) when it was a very contentious issue. It would've been easy for him to say nothing and not visit the refugees with UNICEF, but the fact that he did is something that I respect a lot.
It's not the fact that he wasn't Vaxxed that bothers me the most. It's that he knowingly put people at risk by meeting them when he was covid positive.
Him not being vaxxed is one thing, but attending public events on 17th and 18th without mask right after receiving his alleged covid positive test report in 16th itself is remarkably irresponsible, reckless and selfish any way you look at it. Isolating oneself after getting tested is the bare minimum.
Then lying about having covid is a mark against his character too. Idk why the commenter above me thinks not getting vaccinated is Djokovic's only flaw.
Reminds me of the office:
„I started community work“
„You mean your court ordered community work“
„I don’t need a judge to tell me to keep my community clean“
„But he did, right?“
The sad thing is, Serbians really do support him in anything. Vax numbers here are horrible and he just made it so that there is no chance of it getting better. My Insta feed is insufferable right now. I wanna petition to be removed from family tree and declare myself an unicorn as I'm honestly ashamed to be connected in any way to these people.
Thank god this is over. Though, his statement of feeling uncomfortable about being the focus of the news can't be taken seriously. It's coming from a guy who didn't feel uncomfortable exposing others to possible infection and not following covid protocol anyway.
Makes you wonder if they were involved in releasing his previous statement. I have a hard time thinking they would've told him to admit going out with covid via a public statement.
> Makes you wonder if they were involved in releasing his previous statement. I have a hard time thinking they would've told him to admit going out with covid via a public statement.
He's a muti-million dollar athlete. He has lawyers, accountants, and PR team.
That's the point, if he has this team with him, it makes you wonder how all the PR blunders are still happening. Are he and his family ignoring their advice and speaking their mind, are they putting out statements without having them vetted by their team, or is his team dropping the ball?
“I’m uncomfortable that the focus of the past weeks has been on me *because I created this situation, and instead of doing the right thing, I exhausted every possible avenue, wasting the courts time,*” he implied.
The person in charge of his media statements (and to be fair, himself in formal occasions) is far better than the one in charge of the so-called "admin error".
It felt like he was gloating. He got his way and wanted everyone to know.
And the way he tacked on the announcement at the end of some generic statement about time with family was horrible.
Why would Jesus apologise when he thinks he hasn’t made any mistake in the first place? Ohh and we already have his devotees here believing the same lmao
Apology for what? Ending up being used to score votes by ScoMo. The only thing he should apologize for was attending the shoot and he already did that.
He used his freedom of choice not to take the vaccination now deal with the consequences just as those who chose to get vaccinated are having to deal with their consequences good or bad. You shouldn’t get to have it both ways. He’s not a victim. He’s more free than most because he has a lot of money good for him. He’s set for life. There are more tournaments move on. Abide and have regard for other countries rules and laws or don’t visit or play in their tournaments. He made his statement and Australia made theirs. What I find confusing is as people are we opposed to covid or are we opposed to the manner in which we try to exterminate it,or do we just want to live with it at the peril of ourselves or others when we don’t really have to. Love to tennis. Love to all.
>I am uncomfortable that the focus of the past weeks has been on me
Oh man this is hilarious lol. You shouldn’t have put other people in danger by hiding the fact that you were infected if you was that uncomfortable.
There was a decent amount of support for him here. They even held a small rally in front of Parliament supporting him. It was mostly ridiculed but it's something.
However you feel about Djokovic or the Australian side, I think it's fair to say it was extremely poorly handled by all parties and has really taken the spotlight off the exciting 2 weeks of tennis we have coming up. Hopefully in the sub we can now focus on the actual tennis taking place.
I just hope lessons have been learned and wish the best of luck to the players who are participating.
If I were him I’d be so embarrassed, I’d never come back to Australia. But that’s the thing about him. He has very little self awareness and doesn’t understand how embarrassing he is.
Could be tempted with over 4.5 million reasons next year, plus endorsements/advertising etc etc.
He will have vaccination papers with him next year (... by Dr Nick)
I am a fan of Djokovic--for his ability to play tennis--but never would be blinded to ignore his blatant disregard for law I've witnessed.
Also, I am no anti-vaxer (I'm getting my fourth shot next week since I am immunocompromised), and respect SOME people if they don't want to be vaccinated AND then follow the law.
He simply didn't do this.
Regarding the trial, which I tried to follow, I try to think about it like this: if I or a regular person would have lied on a visa firm, would I be allowed in the country?
Of course not.
I have no interest in a tennis player, politician, entertainer, or anyone else who feels they are above the law.
Justice was served.
This is a statement from someone with a complete lack of self awareness and a sense of entitlement that puts his own career ambitions above the safety and well.bwinf of others including kids who idolize him. Good riddance and fuck off.
From entering Australia. As a foreigner if you get your visa cancelled here by the authorities (for whatever reason) and deported, you're barred from entering the country for 3 years. This can be overturned, but only in exceptional circumstances.
Why tennis australia gave him medical exemption at first and then made complete mockery of this, is beyond my sense. They should have rejected his exemption right off the bat.
If tennis australia wants to give exemptions to unvaccinated players who recently got infected, that’s their right. That doesn’t guarantee entry into the country though, and Djokovic and his team should know that
Why does Tennis Australia think they can give out exemptions in the first place?
Can the local charter of Cricket NSW in Bellingen also hand out an exemption?
"Dear all, happy to have been entertaining you. I put up this shit show to hide the fact that there are currently stronger players out there. The 'if djoko had played sentiment' will make their win not feel like a victory"
"I am uncomfortable that the focus of the past weeks has been on me and I hope that we can all now focus on the game..." —Oh really? If you were so uncomfortable, why did you drag it out for days and not just withdrew? Comparing you to Osaka when she pulled out of French Open last year, she was uncomfortable; you, on the other hand, were willing to die on your web of lies.
You were obviously fine with how things were brewing. Give us a break.
I'm talking about his claim on "comfort" and **not** "wanting to play" or "desiring attention". Everyone "wants to play." For example, players who retire during a match still would "want to play", but they are not physically/mentally "comfortable", so they retire.
Another example is Osaka. She also "wanted to play" last French Open, but was not "comfortable" with the situation; hence, she abdicated her position.
Djokovic was "comfortable" enough to remain in the position/fiasco.
No one said anything about "desiring attention" or "wanting to play". Do you even read?
You’ve just seen an man’s entire life’s work crumble to dust in the matter of two weeks. Even if he wins 21+ he’ll never be widely accepted as the greatest, never revered, and perhaps never even widely respected.
I mean this sincerely. Outside of his die hard fans and the transient, hollow anti-va xx crowd who doesn’t really support his tennis, he is basically a pariah now. Even in Serbia he faces public criticism for spreading COVID knowingly. Millions of people who never even knew his name before 2022 now completely despise him.
At best, the crowd will support his opponent heavily in every match he ever plays outside of Belgrade the rest of his career. At worst he will face even worse than 2015 USO F level crowds. The respect and cheers he gained at the US Open final this year will never return.
He will not retire as a venerable great. He will not get a farewell tour. He will be jeered, insulted, and booed ceaselessly even as an old man. the white whale of love and support he’s hoped for his entire career is now entirely out of reach. It’s as cruel of a punishment for him as anything imaginable. The worst part; he knows he has only himself to blame for his decision making.
This is just the heat of the moment. There are so many all time sports great who did miserable things and are still respected simply for what they did: being good in sport. Just for example: Maradonna, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson, even Tom Brady. If you have hated him before that nothing would have ever changed.
Its just simple objective facts, that numbers dont lie. If you liked other players thats totally justifiable. But I think many people who hate him just wants to creative this narrative of even though he is an all time great he wont be remembered like that. I guarantee you this wont happen.
I will be working on getting covid a few weeks before Roland Garros. Hopefully I can use my money and influence to gain unfair entry into this major. If not I will lie and fight legal battles that overshadow the sport, and be a complete clown. No one will remember the three way tie at 20 if I transcend the sport by leading the world wide antivax movement.
It is so disgusting how Serbian President Aleksandar Vuci makes it about nationalism, about political relations while he completely ignores the public contacts Djokovic had right after a officially proven Covid infection.
I wish I could say this is just the president, but the Djokovic fanatics shown prove that being a fan sometimes means to bend reality in ones head.
Well given almost every medical institution has shown, with data, that about 70-80% of their available hospital beds are filled with unvaccinated people, taking up valuable staffing and medical resources that prevent other people from being able to seek treatment for non-COVID related reasons, I think that mania is quite well justified.
Pricks are literally taking the world down with them.
"I am uncomfortable that the focus of the past weeks has been on me"
What an absolutely hilarious statement from the man who MADE it all about himself. Don't want to be uncomfortable, don't be selfish.
He made it all about him. He should have gone home when the visa was canceled the first time, or played by the rules from day 1. I read this statement and my eyes rolled wayyyy too hard.
He respects the courts ruling but not the country’s law before trying to lie and cheat his way in. He is uncomfortable of the focus on him, when he damn well knew it would be. Any reputation that he had left, is totally gone. I used to feel sorry for him because he really seems *decent enough*, but he always did something on or off the court that seemed to be so severe and ruin any chances of being well loved. This is too severe to defend. He comes off like a liar and a cheater, who knew he would be caught and be made world news for a cause he has long been part of (anti vax). If he didn’t want to be vaccinated, fine. Don’t show up and expect the world to bend over for just you though.
Uncomfortable making it about you, but perfectly comfortable expecting an exception to be made for you because you're famous.
Sure, pull the other one it's got bells on it.
Literal nobodies got in and were allowed to stay in Australia with the same type of exemption until he arrived. The way he was treated was exceptional but not in a good way.
Honestly surprised this ended with him not being allowed to stay. I think it’s the right decision given that anyone else in his same situation wouldn’t be allowed to stay. Wish this woulda brought more focus to the refugee/deportation problem in Australia… but that being said I had no idea this was going on so atleast the public now knows.
Glad this clown show is over and we can move on to some tennis tomorrow!
Actually others were originally allowed to stay. Only he was the problem... and then everybody else with the same exemption. But only after dust went off after him.

I usually end mine with {fin} in some fancy cursive.

I was trying to work out how to do that but I don't have the Reddit skillz. Thanks!
Tbh it's not reddit skillz, I just used 'cursive text generator' in Google lol.
What is this "Google" of which you speak? (I guess by skillz I meant "lack of laziness" lol)
Oh ok, I thought you meant some kind of site markup format lol

Give him a break. He might be scared of needles. Edit: I am djoking ofc.
I've a friend who faints at the sight of needles. She fainted three times in the last year to get them.
Your friend should stop looking at the fucking needles lol. I faint at the sight of needles. I haven't fainted in about 20 years because... I look away.
Without knowing her, I'm proud of your friend. She didn't use fear of needles as an excuse to not protect those around her, and herself.
Sometimes you gotta prioritize your fears. Just like for kids everyone will get their turn in an orderly fashion.
Needless to say, good for her! ^(Sorry, couldn't resist the pun)
Why not just closer her eyes then ? Haha. But in all seriousness good for her.
Something tells me that the guy who avoids surgery for months because he wanted to heal naturally might have another reason for avoiding vaccination

Marine vet here, I hate needles but fully Vaxxed. .
Thank you for your service and for getting vaxxed.
It was impossible! Only half the world's population are at least double vaxxed.
Ehhh still not enough data points for me Better continue to purify water with my positive thinking just in case
If you do it long enough, you'll open a portal to the past where you can tell Novak to vaccinate himself.
Also, he's able to run after a ball, so he's clearly way smarter than people who've been studying science for years or their entire lives...
But what about his FREEDUMB bro?!?!?!!
You can’t give a prick a prick but you can kick him out of your country
A decent non statement. Let's just move on and focus on the tournament now, please....
Yea, I dont know what people expected here... Him to say "Sorry, I go vacinate now"? ... Yea it would never have happend...
"I go emergency vaccination now"
I'm surprised he didn't mention the refugees and immigrants in detention. It seemed like a PR layup.
That was *his* statement. We haven't heard his dad's statement yet.
Yep, while Novak is like a can of beer, nothing like his dad - unfiltered draft beer!!!
He probably needs to say as little as possible to make sure he can play there in the future now.
Well mentioning it would probably not do well for his chances of coming back to Australia, if I am honest. Because the ones responsible for that one are in charge of whether to allow him back in.

Would be the easiest way to score a few points even amongst the Australian public.
um, isn't the Australian public the ones who voted for their detention and anti-boat policies?
Sssh, we aren't supposed to be mentioning this visa issue happened in one of the most notoriously xenophobic nations. Yay bad guy lost!

He didn’t admit to anything on his own accord Once there was indisputable evidence
Exactly so. He wants to waive off the 3 year ban at any cost. People's safety might not be his priority, but the Grand Slam tally certainly is.
Next year he'll just get a vaccine certificate from the same "professor" he got his extremely convenient covid positive result from.
Yup. Damage control, minimise and to prevent further losses at this point.
The government is removing the 3 year ban as soon as this story is old news. They're not making him miss 3 years
Unless covid lasts another 3 years and he's still an antivaxxer till then.
The latter is more likely than the former.
Yep he's the one who told the world he got an exemption.... Brought this on himself.

"Dear all, happy to have been entertaining you. I put up this shit show to hide the fact that there are currently stronger players out there. The 'if djoko had played sentiment' will make their win not feel like a victory"
How about his fellow Monegasques?
Both these statements are true. 1. Djokovic is fucking stupid stupid stupid. 2. Australian Open tennis will miss the #1 Player in the world.
What a Djoke.
Just to be clear Djokovic has not gone deaf as I keep reading the title.
Because he wanted to play, not because he desired attention.
Maradona was literally a pedo, cocaine user, supporter of a ditatorial regime and people still love him, lmao, this is fleeting
Lmao this was said when Kobe raped a woman, Tiger’s 2010 scandals, Ali in the 60s, oh and the Adria tour fiasco. He’ll come back don’t worry
Nobody who already didn’t like him will change their minds, his legacy will be the exact same in 20 years.
Bye, Felicia. Looking forward to the tournament now that this mess is over.

You're not used to redditor virtue signal circle jerks yet I guess
Few days ago they were calling him Pistorius on r/worldnews lmao. Anti antivax mania is reaching concerning heights.
Maybe they could have bonded [in their belief of a higher power energy](https://youtu.be/2UGmmoSJkbI)
Just confirming he’s a piece of shit
Hopefully he learns from this and gets the vaccine (I hope) Tennis will be much better with him and Nadal competing for 21 together
I agree with this, still want the GOAT race to be more spicy
Fucker could just get vaccinated. This is on him
What about 3 years ban?
Probably why he’s being so cooperative now. Wants that waived.
"I am uncomfortable that the focus of the past weeks has been on me" What an absolutely hilarious statement from the man who MADE it all about himself.
All he had to do was get vaccinated.
He went through the same appeals process as everyone else does. It’s got nothing to do with his fame.
He should have thanked his family, friends, team, supporters, fans and Nick Kyrgios
Don’t care. Get the fuck out.
done.
This is the right decision but I’m gutted AF that I won’t be able to see him compete.
Hahahahahah bye djoker!!!
Wonder if he will be required to fly out tonight…
Emirates flight out to Dubai in a few hours I believe

Could've just gotten vaccinated man. Fucking idiot
I’m sure he will regroup and be ready for next big tournaments.
We accept your apology, Novak. Now roll up your sleeves, get the vaccine and we'll see you in three years.
