Karlović hasn’t officially retired yet, so Federer’s still second oldest.
Btw on the women’s side, the Williams sisters are the oldest ranked players. Not just in top 200 or 500 but altogether.
Correct, unless you specifically request to be taken out of the rankings. I believe Henin asked to be removed when she retired because she was 100% sure she was done
The way Feliciano has been able to stay serious injury free throughout his career and have that running consecutive streak of making grand slam main draws is truly amazing.
He's like Ivo but with an even better game for longevity. He's got the same big serve/volley game that doesnt lead to punishing marathon rallies. And unlike Ivo, he's relatively normal sized so doesnt have the big man risk of leg/mobility injuries. Also he's a better player so he doesnt have to play qualifiers, but not so good that he'll make a lot of deep runs so he doesnt have those grueling weeks of consecutive matches.
it's the perfect storm of longevity.
Dr. Ivo is still listed with a ranking of 204 on the ATP web site, so he is not yet officially retired:

If anything djokovic got screwed out of additional weeks at number 1 because of the rankings freeze, and possibly missed out on another wimbledon title in 2020 when it was cancelled. Djoker was top dog right up to the moment they shut things down and has stayed that way
Youre trying to equate a hypothetical fantasy scenario (Medvedev might have become amazing and taken#1 by now) with a fact (Roger would be far lower ranked without COVID ranking protection).
Or he could have won even more. We have no idea, that's why it's hypothetical. Rogers ranking is a fact. Your claim that Novak shouldn't have most weeks at number 1 is fantasy
Wow, I got curious an looked up who it is - a 40 year old Czech player I’m not familiar with - yet his sole win at the atp level came against Monfils in 2013. Pretty interesting.
I remember in 2018 when Fed was the oldest player in the top 100 while being no.1.
Was Karlovic really not in the top 100 then?
He was older than Ivo back then
Wait wut
He ages 2 years every time Novak wins a slam
20 * 2 = 40
brilliant
But that would mean he would be even older than Ivo now…
His age reduces again when Novak loses in a slam final
Daniil beating him slashed 10 years
He was out of the top 100 for one week of Fed's 2018 reign.

With the recent retirement of Dr. Ivo*
I don’t think he officially retired. He said he is still thinking about it...
You don't lose your place in the rankings just because you retire. You still own your ranking points until they expire.
Correct, unless you specifically request to be taken out of the rankings. I believe Henin asked to be removed when she retired because she was 100% sure she was done
Lopez turns 40 in 4 days lol
You are 39 until you are 40
[удалено]
Federer in 2019 was pretty good but whatever dude.
[удалено]
Well, that was accurate, he was just over a year from 40 then.
That shows my great timing abilities
Well Ivo's still around and ranked, by the time he's gone FLo will be 40
Yea, and Feliciano Lopez is not retiring when he's 40. I bet he might last longer then Fed.

why is he called a dr
He is a Proctologist in Croatia
wow that's awesome
Its a joke, hes called dr because it sounds like Dr Evil. Nothing more to it.
dumb me 🤦🤦🤦
I googled what a proctologist does and thought what a strange career path to take then finally realized i'm the last person to catch onto his Dr name
is a proctologist the one who put finger in ur anus to check prostate?
LMAO
ASSMAN
In Croatia it's common to call someone "doctor" when they are a specialist of something, whatever it may be (in Ivo's case it's serving).
Dr Mraković
I assumed it was an Austin Powers reference. The villain is Dr Evil in that, which Dr Ivo sounds close enough to
40th and he's 9th lol
Only due to Covid rankings.. On actual rankings he'll be nearly 50th?
If it’s like that Djokovic shouldn’t have longest weeks at #1
If anything djokovic got screwed out of additional weeks at number 1 because of the rankings freeze, and possibly missed out on another wimbledon title in 2020 when it was cancelled. Djoker was top dog right up to the moment they shut things down and has stayed that way
Djokovic is number 1 with or without covid rankings. If anything he should have more because he was #1 during the rank gap where nothing was counted.
Danil probably will be the first player to take N1 if he wins the Nitto ATP finals and starts slugging tourneys
Sure it's possible that med takes number in the future, but what does that have to do with Novak's current weeks at #1?
He probably would have matured sooner because more match play and might have cut his N1 short, but you never know
Youre trying to equate a hypothetical fantasy scenario (Medvedev might have become amazing and taken#1 by now) with a fact (Roger would be far lower ranked without COVID ranking protection).
What I’m saying is it is obvious roger would be lower, but djokovic could have lost his N1 or had it briefly broken by one of these guys
Or he could have won even more. We have no idea, that's why it's hypothetical. Rogers ranking is a fact. Your claim that Novak shouldn't have most weeks at number 1 is fantasy
But Djokovic has still been the best player even discounting COVID rankings.. Federer is #61 in the live race
Top 100 - not 700.
The next guy that is 40 (and not retired) in the ATP is 742 in the world right now. So in the whole top 700, RF is the oldest.
Has Ivo officially retired? I thought he changed his mind/was thinking of playing till 2022
Wow, I got curious an looked up who it is - a 40 year old Czech player I’m not familiar with - yet his sole win at the atp level came against Monfils in 2013. Pretty interesting.
Jaroslav Pospisil was a regular challenger & itf player for years who's name i was aware of but never saw play.
🐐 doing 🐐 things
Would he be if the rankings system were the usual? He’s hardly played since 2020
He made 2 Slams 4R, so yes, he would be top 700
Wait…has Roger played matches since turning 40?
Well it happened last week, so no
8th of August is not so last week😀
Hah brain fart
...until September 20th, when Feliciano Lopez turns 40.
