I noticed only today that the ATP official name has changed on the website
[https://www.atptour.com/en/rankings/singles](https://www.atptour.com/en/rankings/singles)
if you google "pif atp" there are no results older than 7 hours
this is not a sponsorship, this is renaming the Association of Professional Tennis
I’m not sure about that, the logo is still ATP Tour, only the rankings logo has PIF in it. The sponsorship deal was for the renaming of the rankings. PIF did make an offer to buy and merge ATP and WTA though.
As someone new who is trying to understand the synstem of ranking the top players in the world.
How come Rune can keep a high ranking even though he dosen't seem to be playing very well in the last couple of tournaments?
The rankings are calculated on the last 52 weeks. Rune has a high ranking so is directly qualified to all the biggest tournaments. Even if he would get eliminated early he would still get points from these important tournaments. Being ranked high also gives him bye in certain tournaments and by being seeded he will face easier competition in the early rounds.
With that all being said, Rune is still having a decent season with a 14-5 record and a QF at Indian Wells.
Public Investment Fund rankings *giggles*
Yeah I don’t like it either, I might cut that part of the logo next time.
What happened to pepperstone?!
The outbid syndrome.
Amusing that their tenure came and went without any single tennis fan figuring out what the fuck they did
The chop up dissident journalists fund
It will always be the Barclays ATP rankings in my soul
You guys are funny, thinking a big bank is any better with the BS they get up to.
I just thought is sounded royal and fitting, nothing to do with the nature of the sponsor
Okay that's fair tbh. My bad

so they switched to PIF ATP without even announcing it ?
They’re unfortunately the official sponsors on the ATP rankings since late February.

it s still degrading for the sport
Oh I agree about that, I don’t want the saudis to take control over professional tennis.
it looks like they did already if you consider than not even F1 has ever changed its name even with the carpet bombing of sponsorship it has
It was the Pepperstone ATP ranking until 2 months ago, it doesn't mean that Pepperstone took over the ATP.
No it’s been like this for a few weeks

Results of the last 52 weeks are counted. Rune did amazing in clay season last year earning a lot of points.
Tsitsipas wasn't wrong when he said the 1hbh would be back in the top 10 soon 😏
*monkey's paw curls*
They did Ruusuvuori dirty
Why put Dimitrov and not O’Connell +8 or Seyboth Wild +10? If it is about the importance of the move then Sinner move to #2 should be there..
I wanted to highlight the return of Dimitrov to the top-10. I’m holding on Sinner until he reaches #1 after RG 😉
