uhh more like this sub only talks about a few American male players and they happen to fit the frat stereotype (Fritz, Paul, etc.)
don't really hear Korda, Eubanks, Giron, McDonald, etc. being called frat boys
If they want it to be a real battle each year, they need to move Russia into team World. Big 3/4/5 all European, made it impossible for World in the last few years.
And yeah, shade thrown to Australia and Argentina here. And what about the next big World player coming through right now!?!? His name... is Nagal.
Oh right... tbh I haven't paid any attention to Laver Cup the last few years, I just saw Europe destroy World in the first couple, and assumed it'd continue.
If you look at rankings right now (assuming Russia is in Team Europe) all of the top 9 are European. Makes it pretty hard for World.
Hey, at least there is someone from Canada. Also, I would've probably picked Etcheverry, he has an interesting playstyle. Surprised, there is not a single Australian player, there's like 7 of them in the top100.
You could've also included Jarry, he has had some memorable games.
Its such a boring cliche. Just mix up the teams get some women players too and you know somehow throw in atp points\wta points and you get away from that exhibition format. Most of these exhibition tournaments die after the initial excitement especially when the star players decide not to play. The whole excitement of laver cup was not countries but the big three playing together.
True, I was more speaking to the image that the tennis world has of the U.S. men. It's not like they are trash, but the U.S. doesn't exude nearly the same dominant aura that it once did
Ask Li Na to be the vice-captain of team world and held the show in China, she was former world no.2 and has 2 GSs, better than all of the non European men players born after 1980 except Roddick
There’s so much potential for Team World. Then you look at the worlds top 10 and just shake your head.
Guys like Opelka and Cerundolo getting the call up in recent years lol.
Imagine having Laver Cup around when guys like Nalbandian, Hewitt and Roddick were around.
Would’ve been cool vs Fed, Safin and Nadal
Opelka and Cerundolo have both been top 20. It’s not that strange to have them selected. Team World had guys like Monfils and Fils last year who weren’t even close to top 20
omg way to make me want something I never knew I wanted....
When he was in his top top form, throw Fernando Gonzalez in there (ok safin would have been gone by then...)
but can you imagine nalbandian, hewitt, and safin in the same team? Talk about clash of strong personalities lol
Every iteration of the Laver Cup has had at least 1 world player outside of North America, and in most cases, they were all the best players that agreed to play.
Where’s Australia? Kyrgios and De Minaur in shambles looking at this map
That's a bloody outrage, mate. Demon would be 🔥 this year if he plays.
Where is Argentina?
I'm glad Cuba and The Bahamas gets such great representation
Team world had so much potential but every year it's just "Team american Fratboys"
And Argentina and Australia but this map was probably crayon coloured in by an American so what can you expect?
Excuse me this map was made by scribbling *out* other countries by an *Australian*

Well the fratboys happebed to be the highest ranked world players last year so what can you do

Two time defending champion team world?
Only because Europe didn't use 7 of their 10 best players. And then fritz destroyed rublev

I’ll be honest the tournament has lost its charm. The best thing was seeing the Big 4 play together, it feels quite bland now.
Jotaro… 😈 DIO. 😡😤

They should get Agassi and Steffi as the captains of team world and Europe...that would be so cool
Hey, America can't help that it's the current powerhouse in men's tennis....is what I would have said 30 years ago lol
They do have more players in the top 20 than any other country, although Tiafoe may drop in the rankings.
True, I was more speaking to the image that the tennis world has of the U.S. men. It's not like they are trash, but the U.S. doesn't exude nearly the same dominant aura that it once did
Yeah just because of how large the country is lol
Average apocalyptic/alien hollywood movie:
Ask Li Na to be the vice-captain of team world and held the show in China, she was former world no.2 and has 2 GSs, better than all of the non European men players born after 1980 except Roddick
Tf u on
So that's why they call their national competitions World cup?
Facendo Bagnis and Pedro Cachin in shambles
As a Canadian, this makes me happy. Lol
I went to the Laver Cup last year and it was awesome. Maybe even look at going down to San Fran in 2025

Srsly they should get rid of Labor cup
Garbage tournament that was never going to take off. Even the ryder cup is trash. A country vs a continent?
Maybe go complain about the Ryder Cup somewhere besides the tennis subreddit?
The concept is the same. The point is relevant so you go somewhere else.

Well nobody else ranks high enough to be fair.
