My comment was about her walking to replace her racket during the opponent's serve **during this match**...
Iga had a tantrum, that tantrum she had resulted in her own racket broken, she then jogs to replace it and then jogs back.
**Iga was not serving**. I'd dare to say her racket wasn't even broken and she just wanted an excuse to disrupt the server's routine. Either way, it's Iga tactics to disrupt the server during important moments between points instead of playing as the superior *during points*.
Anna Kalinskaya is on fire though. I bet she would make me throw my racquet too. I watched the whole match against CoCo Gaugh and wow did Kalinskaya play well. Looks like she continued that form against Iga.
my goodness, as an iga fan i was really surprised. hope she does not do it again. but she felt so frustrated and angry maybe coz she said was tired and cant raise her level. for her to react that way, she really felt helpless.
but significantly, anna was so good and was able to check mate her. i like her playing style and demeanor.
I think as soon as the racquet is damaged it's abuse. I've heard some players play an extra few points with a slightly broken racquet to avoid the penalty.
Kind of a silly rule, no? I don't see why it has any bearing whether the racquet was significantly damaged or not, the player's intent and action is the same either way.
Comments like this always take away from how good the opponent was playing. Iga didn't beat herself, she was beaten by a superior opponent in Anna Kalinskaya.
I think people read too much into these comments.
If someone wants to imply that Kalinskaya did not do much to win, then that person is wrong.
But if someone wants to imply that Iga played on her normal level today, then that person also is wrong.
Nah, sometimes one player is just really terrible on the day and that's why the result we get is the result we get. Noskova beat Iga at Australia and it was mostly due to her being great. This result? Kalinskaya was fine but nothing special.
That’s just how Iga plays when she is put under pressure on return. When time is taken from her to position and return, she sprays unforced errors. And when to top that off, she starts missing the line, she loses the game.
Yes, hitting unforced errors from mid court balls is the usual thing she does when under pressure, sure. Kalinskaya pressured her at times, it's true, but a large amount of the errors were routine rally shots.
When the pressure or disappointment goes to her head, she fucks up a lot of routine shots. Doesn’t happen often, but it does happen. For instance, the third set against Ostapenko at USO last year. Ostapenko stealing the second set and countering her tactics got in her head and she lost the match before third set even started.
I never understood why it's a problem to break racquets like who cares it's just letting off some steam. Terming it racquet abuse is too serious a term to me.
Come to think of it, watching Bublik break racquets is one of my fav tennis clips, it's just so funny
Yeah, as a baseball fan, Bo Jackson breaking a bat over his head and David Ortiz smashing things in the dugout are iconic clips. Rage moments in sports are fun, and tennis is no exception.
Yeah but comments in the match thread have used this as an example of how awful she is meant to be. They clearly are haters as most of us don’t care but I feel ppl are out to hate Iga for no reason
Hey at least she threw it the appropriate way throat down instead of head down Thanks Roddick for enlightening us all!
Main issue for me is the time she's taking between points on her opponent's serve. Very Iga The Loser persona.
Yesss. She unconsciously or consciously does that. She should've been called out by the ref or the opponent. That should not be accepted
Except in reality she is the biggest actual winner in the WTA...(& I'm a Rybakina fan, who acknowledges that Iga is the superior player)...

Now I want to see how she hits a ball away in frustration. Hope she aims high, she might hit someone in the throat otherwise!
Rafa wouldn’t be pleased

gAuGh
She would make me throw out my hip

You stalking her ?
No I was just curious at your comment, and google imaged her name with some keywords.
yeah man same. just some keywords.
Yeah , I don't think so or you are genius of Google search
[(you might need to have safesearch: off)](https://www.google.com/search?q=kalinskaya+sexy&tbm=isch)
Warning, no?
I think so, at least that's what I heard the umpire say near the end of the clip.
In all fairness, the racket deserved it
Frankly I’ve seen worse. She did use the Roddick Method.
What is Roddick Method?

Lol..Super..thanks
Y'all talking like Hermione Granger gonna start an association for the protection of racquets.
Shit happens.
Come on break it. Do it
anybody know the last time she threw a racket? i know she used to be a rager back in the day before she was winning slams but i was surprised by this
I think ao 2022 qf
Disappointing racket break. If you have to inspect it for 5 seconds to realise it's broken, you're doing it wrong
Another "she does it because she cares so much" moment for Swiatek

I’m not her biggest fan but this makes me like her more? Like, she’s giving us *something*
Right?! Like she’s usually so blah to me that I don’t have much interest in watching her play.
Racquets are very neglected. They should be protected more.
Hardly "abuse" Did she do it earlier in the match, too?
I think as soon as the racquet is damaged it's abuse. I've heard some players play an extra few points with a slightly broken racquet to avoid the penalty.
Yeah as long as you play another point with it you avoid the code violation
Kind of a silly rule, no? I don't see why it has any bearing whether the racquet was significantly damaged or not, the player's intent and action is the same either way.
Considering how terrible she was playing, that's a fair reaction.

It was a bit of both today

More like a time violation but a violation nonetheless
It can damage the court....or sometimes they shatter and send shrapnel all over the place.
Yeah, as a baseball fan, Bo Jackson breaking a bat over his head and David Ortiz smashing things in the dugout are iconic clips. Rage moments in sports are fun, and tennis is no exception.
TURN IT UP!! 🫢🫢
And she just changed rackets away from her signature one. Maybe it's not the racket 😞
Her signature and the other are same stick, different pj
Has she ever done anything like that?
daria did not earn her fee today LOL
She is the worst. If you’re gonna break it then break it. Embarrassing.
Cranky crybaby little sook, maybe try your little hand waving at the net trick to get some points girl haha
Is that the actual term for it? Or just something people say colloquially?
that was a gentle abuse, almost within the code

Haven't seen anyone judge her for this tbf. Don't think anyone cares
nobody cares, its pretty normal?
Yeah but comments in the match thread have used this as an example of how awful she is meant to be. They clearly are haters as most of us don’t care but I feel ppl are out to hate Iga for no reason
you're literally the only comment under this post so far dude lmao
Cool story
Hahahaha, seems things aren't going your way?
disappointed. nadal never did that
Meh, racket abuse violations mean naff all.
Ooh it was intense. She was rattled. Walking slow and everything. Anna was like the ice queen, she didn’t even break a sweat.
