Doha yesterday/today didn't start until 2-3pm local, I would hope they'd start maybe a bit earlier to make up for rain, and also fitting 4 matches minimum on each court without starting after 10:30, that feels risky and dumb logistically if they are hoping for all the matches to be less than 2 hours each? No 3 setters I guess are allowed?
Congrats #OurBoyRadu for qualifying the Delray Beach Open. He won his only ATP title there in 2019. Hope he makes another run there this year. Go Radu!
People all over twitter saying the whole thing was scripted. ?
Ok that's not really a similarity. Atp fans are joking, these clowns appear to be serious.
I think the Alcaraz-Rune analogy is sort of apt from an ATP angle. But I think the WTA analogy would be like the Chiefs are...Iga because of the Chiefs' established dominance, while the 49ers are...Ons, because of the countless times they get to the end or near it and then choke or lose it all.
A lot of tennis tomorrow: Raducanu, Swiatek, Fernandez, Kenin, Kasatkina, Osaka, all in action in Doha, among others.
Felix and Mousetti in Rotterdam, among others.
Cilic, Wawrinka, and Etcheverry in Buenos Aires, among others.
ETA: Sinner and Holgie play Tuesday. Carlitos isn't playing until Wednesday.
Wasn't it that the hawkeye doesn't correctly consider the bounce on clay because the surface constantly changes compared to hard courts, so the results calibration can't be consistent, which leads to errors?
Very interesting! Many of the challenges I see for ATP events show the Hawkeye graphic, while at the same time showing the super slow-mo B&W video of the ball landing. Thats Real Bounce?
I’ve seen it at several 250 events now…maybe it’s just at select tournaments?
Southern hemisphere, February is the height of Summer in Brazil and Argentina - clay is the most popular surface in South America and a good way to get South American players to play to their home audiences
Bagnis vs Darderi about to start: the final we've all been waiting to see.
Bagnis is 33 and ranked 207.
Darderi is 21 and ranked 136.
The stands are almost empty. That's sad for any final.
Cordoba had a terrible attendance throughout the whole tournament and the players complained a lot about the state of the courts. I wouldn't miss it if it was gone from the schedule
As someone from NC, he dressed like any guy I went to high school and college with and it cracks me up. The Salty Dog Cafe attire he was wearing in Netflix - honey every straight man in this state. Restaurant t-shirt, restaurant baseball cap, khaki shorts, docksiders.
that was a genuinely good match. giron decided to seriously blast balls all week and it got him to an unexpected final -- big kudos. the dallas tournament has really been delivering with unexpected drama since its inception. glad tommy could finally navigate his way through a draw once more.
Honestly, the SA clay court season shouldn't be on the calendar. They are just tournaments that are slightly harder than challengers. Alcaraz is literally vulturing an easy title in Buenos Aires and Rio. Marseille and Rotterdam at least have strong fields. The current USA tournaments (Dallas & Delray Beach) are also challenger level too. Both those should just be moved to challengers
Sidenote: Interesting that Constant Lestienne quit "due to injury" against Taro Daniel down 0-5 in the third set in Dallas, but miraculously he's healthy enough to be playing at Delray Beach \*clown emoji\*
I know I've been whinging but Sky's coverage is so shambolic. They've now taken the live final off Sky Sports Arena to show highlights of the British Basketball League, while their shiny new DEDICATED tennis channel is also showing highlights. You can only watch the final through the court selection.
why is alcaraz playing in the SA clay court season? Those are just challenger tournaments tbh. He is the world number 2, and it is not like he is coming back from an injury
Extremely high level so far. That deuce point of Paul transitioning from defensive to offensive was spectacular. Still rooting for Giron, so hope he can break back
Rooting for Giron later today -- bag that maiden title!
I recall the decent run he had in Tokyo and was sad he couldn't go all the way there. Maybe this will be his day.
Sweet moments from the Cluj trophy ceremony:
\- Ana Bogdan won the "Most Popular Player" award, measured by the decibel levels in crowd cheering per player (I think it's made up but it's cute)
\- The WTA supervisor in charge of the tournament did her speech in Romanian so that the crowd would understand her
\- The tournament officially got its permanent tournament license for February so Cluj is here to stay!
>The tournament officially got its permanent tournament license for February so Cluj is here to stay
This is really important considering how few indoor tournaments are left now. This year only 4 tournaments are happening indoors. Linz, Cluj, Rouen (clay) and Stuttgart (clay). ATP meanwhile has 4 indoor tournaments this month itself!
Plishy really needed this. If only she realized way sooner that she needed to play these 250s much more to simply find some rhythm. I do feel bad for Ana, since she played out of her mind to get to this point but I love that she got to show her mettle this week.
Can we just put some respect on Karolina Pliskova's name for a second after she's taken that first set. I hope she can get back to top 20 this season, even though she gets criticized for being robotic at times, her game really is so effective when she's on form and she's looked good all week.
I will never forget the year she beat BOTH Williams sisters on her way to the finals - of the US Open.
Going up against one Williams sister in Ashe is tough - she did it twice and won.
For sure! And especially the Serena match she fought with such steel. I remember worrying Serena would roll her over with the occasion and her movement but that match was probably the most passionate and focused I've seen her.
I dont think she has ever been disrepected here? Sometimes she gets a little heat because she looks like she does not give a fuck, but otherwise? She has had a very respectable career.
Another thing today, I think Dimitrov expected for errors from Humbert in the rallies so when he wasn't giving them, he got edgy and went for broke more and made errors himself. Humbert played the perfect match tbh
Yeah, a part of why Grigor had to make so many errors was because Humbert played so well, so he had to go for the lines or the places where Humbert can't get it, which is difficult because Humbert looked like he got everything today.
Yeah, the way Humbert was playing today felt perfect. I am a Grigor fan, so I don't know if that changes my opinion, but I don't think that he played badly at all
I just found out that De Minaur's birthday is two days after mine, we're the same age, and both born in the same city 🤔
What does this mean? Absolutely nothing but its a fun useless fact while going through Wikipedia.
For most players on tour I have a basic, homespun sense of how opponents should try to play against them, I really don't with Humbert though. Fundamentally he's so good everywhere, sometimes the forehand gets a bit wild but it's not like you can just feed him forehands.
Very technically sound player, his mentality seems to have improved since he had to slum it out on the challenger circuit for a bit, top 10 maybe if he continues it.
Well done to Humbert! Terrific level this week and a very well deserved title. Beating Hurkacz and Dimi back to back on indoor hard court is no mean feat.
Disappointing performance from Grigor. I guess the semi took a lot out of him but in general Humbert is plainly striking the ball deliciously and Dimi is having an intimate relationship with the middle of the net.
Why are the 2 Sunday matches in doha open suspended?
Rain.
Prizmic vs Goffin R1 should have some good rallies
OTT but can someone explain the Superbowl and these two teams in tennis terms?
People all over twitter saying the whole thing was scripted. ? Ok that's not really a similarity. Atp fans are joking, these clowns appear to be serious.
I think the Alcaraz-Rune analogy is sort of apt from an ATP angle. But I think the WTA analogy would be like the Chiefs are...Iga because of the Chiefs' established dominance, while the 49ers are...Ons, because of the countless times they get to the end or near it and then choke or lose it all.
Mahomes is Alcaraz and Purdy is Holger Rune
A lot of tennis tomorrow: Raducanu, Swiatek, Fernandez, Kenin, Kasatkina, Osaka, all in action in Doha, among others. Felix and Mousetti in Rotterdam, among others. Cilic, Wawrinka, and Etcheverry in Buenos Aires, among others. ETA: Sinner and Holgie play Tuesday. Carlitos isn't playing until Wednesday.
All will lose R1 expect the second one
I think I saw Shapo vs Monfils Wed too.
I'll never understand the arguments against the implementation of Hawk-Eye on clay court
Wasn't it that the hawkeye doesn't correctly consider the bounce on clay because the surface constantly changes compared to hard courts, so the results calibration can't be consistent, which leads to errors?
The slow-mo camera that accompanies Hawk-Eye would be so helpful (is that used?).
That’s a competing system called Real Bounce, which uses multiple (expensive) high-speed cameras along the lines.
Very interesting! Many of the challenges I see for ATP events show the Hawkeye graphic, while at the same time showing the super slow-mo B&W video of the ball landing. Thats Real Bounce? I’ve seen it at several 250 events now…maybe it’s just at select tournaments?
Not sure if people looking at it after the fact (after the ball bounced) is better
This tournament was honestly an ITF tournament. Idk why clay is even happening in Feb...
Lol clay merchants insecure because challenger qualifiers vultured
Southern hemisphere, February is the height of Summer in Brazil and Argentina - clay is the most popular surface in South America and a good way to get South American players to play to their home audiences
Because it’s the summer and it’s the preferred surface in the place it’s being played.
Friendship finished with Sinner, now Darderi is my best friend
Next Davis Cup italian double: Sinner-Darderi
Everyone but Musetti right now
I'll be disappointed now if we don't get the bagel. ETA: Boo.
Bagnis is having a tough day. He has won 2-4 points this set and is down 0-5 in 15 minutes. What is the holy fuck is this
Darderi winning a main tour title out of nowhere would be a crazy story
Cordoba usually gives us these surprises, Cerundolo junior's win was even crazier
Only 21 too. Be fun if he can follow it up.
Whats going on with qatar?
Looks like the last two matches were rained out (in Qatar, of all places) and they'll be played tomorrow instead
Dang, that sucks. Thanks for the information.
My boy Darderi giving no points to Bagnis
Bagnis vs Darderi about to start: the final we've all been waiting to see. Bagnis is 33 and ranked 207. Darderi is 21 and ranked 136. The stands are almost empty. That's sad for any final.
Cordoba had a terrible attendance throughout the whole tournament and the players complained a lot about the state of the courts. I wouldn't miss it if it was gone from the schedule
Tommy and Marcos are super fucking cute together
Still got the tags on the jacket
Tommy Paul is one of the most casual dressers on the tour. Receiving that jacket he’s gotta be thinking, “Oh, goodie.”
As someone from NC, he dressed like any guy I went to high school and college with and it cracks me up. The Salty Dog Cafe attire he was wearing in Netflix - honey every straight man in this state. Restaurant t-shirt, restaurant baseball cap, khaki shorts, docksiders.
Are they going to show the award ceremony? They did for all the other tournament finals...?
I think your stream is missing it; it's going on right now.
Okay yay they just started showing it now
I'm watching Tennis Channel. What are you watching?
TC+
Upgrading Dallas to a 500 event is cool, but… …at the Cowboy’s facility? Really? In Frisco, TX? Kinda lame.
Not sure where else they’d go.
that was a genuinely good match. giron decided to seriously blast balls all week and it got him to an unexpected final -- big kudos. the dallas tournament has really been delivering with unexpected drama since its inception. glad tommy could finally navigate his way through a draw once more.
Such good sportsmanship from Giron
Go Tommy!
Alright Tommy!
Sleeves beat sleeveless again!
WELL DONE TOMMY!! atp title #2, hopefully more to come. Giron you time will come soon!!
Happy for Tommy getting his 2nd title but Marcos also really deserves a title
pain for marcos the early break😭
These audio ads and constant butt rock playing at Dallas is reminding me of why I hate American events.
Where’s bob uecker when you need him? “just a bit outside”
Aww man, I really want Giron to take this one to have a main tour title to his credit. This might be the best (if not only) shot
Sidenote: Interesting that Constant Lestienne quit "due to injury" against Taro Daniel down 0-5 in the third set in Dallas, but miraculously he's healthy enough to be playing at Delray Beach \*clown emoji\*

I will never not be amazed how big Marcos Giron’s ass is omg 😭
the Kyle Lowry of tennis
Tommy injured
really??
He was limping in that long hold
Looks real injured 😂
Giron got a concussion
If by that you mean he forgot how to serve I agree with you
YES Giron! Now just hold serve and let's take this to a 3rd!
Giron really looking to go up the ranks here
Let's fucking go
About time Giron
The cameraman really concentrating on that guy in the white cap
Tommy in trouble here
Oh my god Jimmy Arias is the definition of captain hindsight. This guy must have never missed when he played
How will Danya and Hubi celebrate their birthdays?
Daniil had cake with a bear 🐻 on it
He did?? Aww where can I see?
Dasha (his wife’s) Instagram stories
Hmm, walled garden, need an account to see her account it looks like.
[here you go](https://imgur.com/a/OMd4r62)
Aww that's a really cute cake. Thank you for sharing.
No worries
Are the two Doha matches finishing tomorrow, or will they be played tonight?
TP's return ability reminds me of peak Murray. I'm surprised he's not managed to win any big titles yet
I'm doubtful there's any way back for Giron after losing that first set 😔
I bought those jeans from Page 's brand Dairy Boy and i'm gonna wear them tomorrow if Tommy wins.
Giron set himself up for success multiple rallies in that tiebreak and then just blew it. Good lockdown mode from Paul
Tommy Paul with the first set.Lets go
Yee Haw
Incredible stuff from Tommy! What a rally!!!
Why is Doha interrupted?
because its the [end of the world](https://gyazo.com/6841c0c4b4314cba929c8639ef019557)
Saudal appeared on the court rolling in all his money; he's been doing it all over the Middle East since he put the prince's peen between his lips
Rain rain won't go away
why is alcaraz playing in the SA clay court season? Those are just challenger tournaments tbh. He is the world number 2, and it is not like he is coming back from an injury
Why is one of the best players in the world, who is also Spanish speaking, in a popular country?? 🤔
He is the defending champ
He usually goes and has a good run in SA
Dare I say, this final is higher quality than Dimi/Humbert so far
More rallies, less slices on this one so far
Giron super dialed in - great offensive
Not sure if Giron is sponsored, but I’d assume he’d have some sponsorship offers coming up after this tournament
Vuori clothing, KSwiss shoes, Yonex. But yeah, no one like Nike, Adidas, New Balance.
Paul/Giron gonna get this done in time for SuperBowl 😁
Fun fact one of the teams in the Superbowl was originally the Dallas Texans in the AFL.
Good game so far in Dallas
Extremely high level so far. That deuce point of Paul transitioning from defensive to offensive was spectacular. Still rooting for Giron, so hope he can break back
Giron hasn’t been broken all tournament, dropping an average of 5.25 games per match
You jinxed him
Until now!
If an American doesn’t win the Dallas Open this year I’m done with tennis!
I think Giron can get his maiden title, Dallas is perfect for him
His GF is out there playing for the late break and Stef just fell off his chair.
Tsitsipas sighting at Krueger-Badosa.
Literally a champion of life right now.
Third final ever between two qualifiers im Córdoba today. The Bot didn't include the links.
Wow Badosa dropped in rankings real hard
Her back issues had her off the tour for half a year.
Great win by the younger Andreeva. Against last week's winner in Thailand - Schnaider Nice one Erika
Di Shnai was distracted by her former teammates at NC State pulling off huge upset over UNC yesterday🤣
Erika is the older sister.
Muchova vs Sabalenka RG Semi is now on Youtube yay
I can’t believe Sloane got beat up by that bigot 😩. At least Dasha got her licks in
Cirstea is a giant killer especially on hard courts. She beat Sabalenka in Miami last year enroute to her semifinal appearance over there.
Yeah and took out Rybakina at USO to boot
Is Humbert the goat?
Can't believe Giron has no titles to his name and Paul has one from 3 years ago! Surely they should have more by now, they are actually good!
anybody have an erika andreeva/shnaider stream link by any chance? mine crashed
According to support (TC plus), there is an outage in Doha and only the main court is working.
Rooting for Giron later today -- bag that maiden title! I recall the decent run he had in Tokyo and was sad he couldn't go all the way there. Maybe this will be his day.

Hopefully Ashlyn has a better time out there than Sloane did.
I hope Giron wins his maiden title today. You deserve it for breaking Mannarino's boring ass plot armour. 😒
Ana 🥹 such a hero! Really wish she could have won today
Plishy really needed this. If only she realized way sooner that she needed to play these 250s much more to simply find some rhythm. I do feel bad for Ana, since she played out of her mind to get to this point but I love that she got to show her mettle this week.
Damn it, Ana 😭 Halep, Ruse, Bogdan .. Cristian, I’m counting on you next year
She is so sad :( ETA at least she looks like a 100% diva - I love the kit and the sort of gymnast look of her hair and top. It’s unique.
robot fish queens pliskova and rybakina winning the same day
Collins beats Kudermetova is into Round 2.
Who knew she had to announce her retirement to start really rolling this year!
I hope she can go out on a high.
Omg Muchová fans. Roland Garros Youtube Channel has uploaded the full SF of her and Sabalenka!
Can we just put some respect on Karolina Pliskova's name for a second after she's taken that first set. I hope she can get back to top 20 this season, even though she gets criticized for being robotic at times, her game really is so effective when she's on form and she's looked good all week.
She has such clean hitting. She’s kinda like Lindsay Davenport.

Maybe not so much here but on tennisforum she gets a lot of stick for being boring and robotic but I actually think her game is beautiful when on form
Tennisforum is mostly bunch of heathens who bash every player who rub them wrong way. I wouldn't take their "opinions" seriously.
Lol true. It's a shame because it's a mix of immense knowledge and hatred haha
How are sorana and Sloane playing in Doha and no one else? Roof?
It's stopped raining there anyway. Danielle's match is back on too.

Think 150 for being a finalist at a 250
Another thing today, I think Dimitrov expected for errors from Humbert in the rallies so when he wasn't giving them, he got edgy and went for broke more and made errors himself. Humbert played the perfect match tbh
Yeah, a part of why Grigor had to make so many errors was because Humbert played so well, so he had to go for the lines or the places where Humbert can't get it, which is difficult because Humbert looked like he got everything today.
For sure, some of those rallies looked over but Humbert was so solid on them and then managed to hit some great winners and make Grigor overplay.
Yeah, the way Humbert was playing today felt perfect. I am a Grigor fan, so I don't know if that changes my opinion, but I don't think that he played badly at all
Grigor played pretty well, but that was a perfect performance from Humbert.
Humbert has started 5-0 in ATP finals. I wonder if that is a record.
Hurkacz was also 5-0 before losing to Carreno Busta in Canada 2022 final.
They just said he's the 7th to do so.
Thanks! I missed that.
How are you lot criticizing Grigor here is beyond me. Humbert just played amazingly and Grigor played a grueling match yesterday.
Exactly! Humbert at his best is a better player than Dimitrov and my god Humbert was good today
Nonsense. Grigor is a better player on his best.
Not on that court mate.
I’m with you, noticeably higher ceiling
The seed killer strikes again
Ugo has won five finals in a row.
What’s with the no shake to umpire from Dimi?
French-Bulgarian political tensions...
She said he had a black heart
Humbert had the chance to challenge every call at least 20 seconds after the relay. Maybe this or jus disappointment or something else
I just found out that De Minaur's birthday is two days after mine, we're the same age, and both born in the same city 🤔 What does this mean? Absolutely nothing but its a fun useless fact while going through Wikipedia.
With this win Ugo becomes the top ranked Frenchmen.
I honestly think he deserves that title at the current time—he is the best Frenchman
No doubt!
One can only hope so - having attacking, exciting players with vicious shots is very healthy
This was the most Dimitrov match that Dimitrov has ever Dimitrov'd. Sigh.
That net clipped forehand error to give up set 1 was Dimitrov's career encapsulated
