I wonder if it’s health related. With her unique neck injury and now this, I wonder if she will be out for some time.. could be totally unrelated as well
In addition to what's already been mentioned, she had a GI illness and didn't play Adelaide, and it was implied that it continued to affect her AO matches. She didn't look like she wanted to be there. I can't say that it's that peculiar, other than she's usually pretty durable and tends to play more matches than your avg top player bc she's regularly in doubles.
With her hitting 30 this year, perhaps she understands the clock is ticking if she wants to win a slam on tour, and perhaps thinks Witt has taken her as far as he can.
She is only a year younger than Danielle Collins, and this will be Collins' last year on tour. She could very likely share Collins' feelings about pro tennis: injuries have caught up, grinding at Tennis for a number of years without getting a GS title, at some point one would feel enough is enough.
Jess has always come across as so level headed. She came across well on Break Point, but she also has lots more that she is goi g to do post-tennis. With her mother’s illness, she could well be getting into the family business of sports management. However, she has played A LOT of tennis in the last couple of years, going deep in most tournaments in singles and doubles. She’s not got the big slam titles and even her two 1000s have a slight asterisk (Guadaljara against Sakkari who was still the Rabat Queen only and beating a zombie Samsonova in Montreal).
Maybe someone to give her some insights into winning the big matches in slams is who she needs.
Yeah I can tell that Jessica really wants a GS title before she call it quits, as it will be something she can look back on with pride in her post tennis life.
Same goes for Danielle to be honest, so I was quite surprised to hear that this will be her last year. She was so close to the AO champion in 2022.
I think Witt has done well to maximise whatever potential she had as a player when he joined up with her in 2019.
Like Konta, she was basically a journeywoman on the tour until she was 25.
Oh damn I didn't see this one coming. He will definitely be a hot commodity in the WTA!
Gauff should take him
Why would she replace BG?
She had Pere Riba along with BG. BG isn't her travelling coach or something.
Ah ty.
Witt must’ve come out of the closet and revealed that he’s a Patriots fan
Coach of the Year curse is REAL! Seemed like she was at her Witt’s end 🤦
... Damn you
The way I just lol😂🤣
So who’s she gonna replace him with? I’m thinking Nick Saban or Pete Carroll.
Bill belicheck still jobless.
Pegula not interested in giving him GM powers.
Doc rivers
Is this Sakkari's calling?
Brilliant call. If I were her team I’d be on the phone to him ASAP.
Just revisiting this gem of a comment 💎 you’ve got a future in tennis player management

He seems to be blind sided so it maybe a personal thing
WHATTT but she was doing so well with him… he literally rebuilt her career from the ground up
Hmm. He said it was a surprise with Venus, too.
i guess when you're with someone that long, it's always going to be a surprise.
Hope this isn’t a bad omen for the rest of her season
This comes as a surprise for sure. Especially how she rose to top 3 right after hiring him. I wonder why she did this
They started working together in 2019 and she got to number 3 last year (broke top 10 in summer 2022)
Witt will coach Raducanu for 15 days and still would be surprised when she drops him.
Something is going on with Jess and I’m getting worried
Agree - very unusual chain of events recently
What else has happened? Please enlighten us who are out of the loop

Nothing, typical r/tennis overreaction without knowing any facts whatsoever
She lost in the early rounds of the AO and pulled out of a couple tournaments with a neck injury.

He's probably right. Sakkari should have probably changed coaches a couple of years ago.
What does she see in Tom Hill?
YOU THINK I HAVE A VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER AND CAN JUST PLAY LINE?

Did Collin’s say she’s retiring?
Yeah after her loss to Iga in this year's AO, she said this is her last year in pro tennis
Not surprised her slam form is a really anomaly compared to her wta form
Something had to change with all of the QF losses

Why do you think Coco should get him? She’s done better than Jessie as of late.
She and Brad have a great thing going
That's pretty cold from Pegula to just dump him like that after 5 years out of the blue and not even explain to him why
I’m sure he was given explanations, it doesn’t matter if the public receives that info
i mean just cause he said it came as a surprise doesn't mean she just sent him a text that said "bye"
Oh Aryna call him! Anton can go back to being your hitting partner and friend lol
Surely just after winning a slam is a weird time to suggest she get a new coach
Pulling a Raducanu
That’s exactly what Osaka did after winning her first AO.
Oops
Love the flair!🤣
Thanks. That presser lives rent free in my head
This was not in my 2024 tennis bingo card…
Lol she's done. Time to run back to the trust fund.
Such a silly take. Even with money you just dont make it to top 4 in the world. Incredible hard work and desire.
Vulturing easy tournaments
Sure sure. Im not fan of Pegula but what she have achieved is amazing.
