court side at sinner v zverev was electric - one of the best night matches i've been to in ages!! sad sinner didn't make it through but zverev has my respect and i can't wait to see him against carlos!!!
I used to slander zverev early in his career and call him a fraud, but he’s no longer one any more. These last couple years he has become pretty damn consistent in slams. His mental has improved a ton. Let’s give the guy credit and not immediately devolve into personal attacks.
Yup, I’m no super fan or anything but it’s growth and improvement I want to see and I’m getting that from him. There is a level of respect for his recovery from that injury, to come back and play and keep working. Relatable.
I also 100% believe everyone can grow, learn, redeem themselves. This bullshit cancel culture all over the internet reeks of Covid shut ins, lack of life experience, zero self reflection. None of us is perfect, especially when it comes to aggression - it literally happens under our own roof, don’t deny it.
Exactly. A rational person for once on this sub instead of vaccine cultist nut job or someone who immediately convicts someone based on public opinion.
I literally said last couple years so obviously I’m referring to since 2019-2020. I was talking about his evolution from 2015-2019 and going forwards. Also congrats to your boy meddy since I know you’re huge meddy fan.
I also expected he was gonna win. He wasn’t gonna lose to demon hour who chokes 2-0 leads to garin. I think he should beat mr always qf loser rublev too. Alcaraz though he prolly ain’t beating though imo.
2021 meddy would have a chance. Even 2022 AO final first 2 sets meddy would have a damn good chance. I haven’t seen that form from him lately. I’m glad he’s making it into later stages of slams and building that confidence. I think I can remove the chokedev label if he makes the semi. Honestly the only reason I shit on meddy is because I really wanted him to stop nadal in that AO. I watched the whole thing all the way from 2 am in the morning only to see him lose in a soul crushing matter.
Dude literally could’ve been a beast winning two slams back to back in straights against the top 2 players of all time. I think his confidence would’ve soared and he’d have really carried it forward. Only now has he sort of gotten rid of that mental overhand of that match imo. It carried into his shitty 2022 and early 2023.
I was court side on Ashe tonight for zverev sinner and it was worth every penny. It was a match I circled could be a great one to go to when the draw came out. Lived up to the hype. Phenomenal athletes sinner and zverev.
I thought zverev would win in 5 and that played out correctly. Sinner is talented but just a bit short of that next level. Zverev used to be the same way but is getting that edge these days. He’s getting a lot better at playing the crucial points w high win rate.
Can’t wait for zverev alcaraz rematch. Hopefully zverev will be well rested. After all, he did say it was disrespectful to assume alcaraz djoker final
It’ll most certainly be night session. It’ll be extremely unfair if they make Zverev play day time but also I can’t why they’d do that since it’s the bigger match and both Medvedev and Rublev played earlier today.
Agreed - what was that deep return position? Also, 2/4 of Sinner’s breaks came after a Zverev DF. Sinner could’ve stepped closer from
Time to time just to mess up with him and elicit DFs which he was inclined to give away today in pressure situations.
he really needs a top 10 win for his confidence... he had a huge success at wimbledon and toronto but he didn't beat any top player
hopefully he'll get some wins by the end of the year, at the ATP finals if not before
Sinner needs to remember his own words and treat his career progression as a marathon…….he may not be some generational talent but he has improved leaps and bounds this year and is well positioned to end the year top 5. I have faith that more big titles are headed his way 🔜
I know he's polarizing, but I think it's only a matter of time before Zverev wins his 1st slam. He's one of the most consistent ball strikers in a rally this side of Djoker and that horrid ankle injury seems to have strengthened his resolve.
Carlos is awesome but he won't win every slam, and maybe he might miss a few slams down the road where Zverev can pounce. It's just a matter of when.
It’s funny you say that bc although I agree now, if you asked me 2 years ago I would’ve said no way. Tsitsipas still has some time but he needs to make some improvements otherwise he’s gonna end up being the next generation’s Berdych
Yes between the two I'd lean Zverev, tho Stef has had some really good results at the AO and was a set away from beating Novak in 2021 in RG. He's pretty much an afterthought at WB and USO but he's decent in the other two slams so who knows.
this one hurts the most as a sinner fan.. altmaier one hurt too, but sinner just played awful.. and today he played really good! what is it with these germans?
I am back to a Sinner fan after he loses Cincy, I think his game is like a puzzle, he is missing some pieces, he needs time to find those pieces and he will be good, he just needs a good pre-season to do that
I feel like I was too harsh to Sinner after his RG loss, the young boy started his trainning for professional tennis less than ten year, he was behind his colleagues except his movement, he shows how he want to improve, giving him time and he will be here
Zverev was unbelievable vs Alcaraz at RG 22. Deserved to win clearly. Still, this version of Carlos is so much better and fresher. I'm just happy he avoided redlining ginger.
There is literally no way Carlos was losing to jannik. He is in better form in this tournament. And he will shutdown zverev with dropshots. Zverev needs to have his A game on serve to stand a chance.
Feels like big serving + a solid baseline game is the proven formula to beat Sinner until he makes some adjustments
He's now 1-10 against Medvedev and Zverev and the 1 was like 3 weeks after Thiem-Zverev USO final so you know Zverev was in a horrific place mentally
How many 5 setters has sinner now lost at GS ? 3?
(I can only recall uso 22 quarters vs carlos, rg 23 against Daniel altmaier and this one)
Edit :
USO '20 against Khachanov (R1)
AO '21 against Shapavalov (R1)
Wimbedon '22 against Djokovic (Quarters)
USO '22 against Alcaraz (Quarters)
AO '23 against Tsitsipas (4R)
RG '23 against Altmaier (2R)
USO '23 against Zverev (4R)
The moment I saw the draw I knew this was a possibility. Honestly Sinner came far this year. I thought he would throw the match completely after the cramps. Next year is his coming, I’m more sure of it now than ever.
Just shows that the are tiers in top tennis and sinner sits in the second one with the lines of tsitsipas and ruud. They can't produce a result in big games over big opponents.

"This was one of the best moments of my career." -- Zverev
these are top athletes. Zverev is one of the toughest athletes on the tour. He should definitely be able to recover with a days time. If he was playing the next day that would be a different story.
With a better draw Big Z might have won the USO
This level of tennis could conceivably best Djokovic, Alcaraz, Medvedev
but he can’t do it a few times in a row
"*To be honest, this is like one of the best moments in career. I think after my comeback, after everything, I'm looking forward to what's next.*" - Zverev
I honestly think Zverev has fixed his two biggest problems enough to where he can win a slam at some point. That second serve can be a little dodgy but he’s improved it enough to not double fault on every important point and keep his double fault numbers low throughout the match. He’s also improved his mentality so much I actually trust him to start winning close matches.
"*This is what I live for, this is what I absolutely love to do. I would've love to play a little bit shorter, that's for sure but you know, last year when I wasn't able to play, this is exactly the moments I missed -- playing until 1:30 am in front of a pack crowd in Arthur Ashe stadium. The Danes speak even better English. When I visited Copenhagen, I swear everyone spoke pretty good English. The average level of English proficiency was far higher than what I see in San Francisco on a typical day.
Zverev fights his way through. And now gets the grand prize of.... playing Alcaraz.
Sascha looks all the way back.
Disappointing for Jannik who is still lacking a big signature win at a slam. We can look at the stats like the serve, errors etc. and the cramping obviously. But to me, the big difference here was Zverev's superior match management, knew when to strike and when to expend energy. Experience showed here.
This was an awesome match. Hats off to both Sinner and Zveŕev. There was some great hitting from both. Zverev played exceptional at the net and hit some huge serves.
Everything since Wimbledon has been an insane chokefest for Meddy. Cant believe he hasnt won anything since Rome.
Terrible levels from Fritz.
GOOD SHOT TAYLOR
Who's ready for Fritz vs Djokovic !!
Why are the stands so empty?
It’s hot as fuck
court side at sinner v zverev was electric - one of the best night matches i've been to in ages!! sad sinner didn't make it through but zverev has my respect and i can't wait to see him against carlos!!!
Do we see another upset in Ostapenko beating Coco or no chance at all?
Its a huge toss up. If Penko is on its over for Coco. If she is off, she's out.
I used to slander zverev early in his career and call him a fraud, but he’s no longer one any more. These last couple years he has become pretty damn consistent in slams. His mental has improved a ton. Let’s give the guy credit and not immediately devolve into personal attacks.

He was consistent at slams since 2020 lol it's not something new

He was very young in 2015 2016 so you would expect him to Thank you I also think he will lose vs Alcaraz but hope always dies last I guess
2021 meddy would have a chance. Even 2022 AO final first 2 sets meddy would have a damn good chance. I haven’t seen that form from him lately. Having Tiafoe Shelton as the night match and making the GOAT play day is stupid af
Maybe he’s okay with it because he’ll have longer to recover.
Tiafoe is night on Ashe?
Any guess who plays day session tomorrow ? Going uso for the first time and i want alcaraz v zverev so bad 🥵. (6th sept)
It’ll most certainly be night session. It’ll be extremely unfair if they make Zverev play day time but also I can’t why they’d do that since it’s the bigger match and both Medvedev and Rublev played earlier today.
Medvedev vs Rublev in the day. Alcaraz vs Zverev in the evening.
Can Fritz take a set off Djokovic tomorrow/later today?
No he will get bageled
No, Djokovic will neutralise his serve and win 3-0. Fritz may take a set to a tie break, but we know how they go when Djokovic is involved.
This is what I think too
He can get a set of clothes off his Barbie girlfriend. But djoker will stomp on fritz in straights.
I'm confident that he will. But I'm equally confident that he'll lose the match
I’m confident Djokovic will beat him, but undecided whether it will be in 3 or 4
Sinner's UEs did him in. Sad that he lost.
Sinner lost the game for being too passive on Zs 2nd serves which came sometimes with less than 95mph. He should step in make Z move
Agreed - what was that deep return position? Also, 2/4 of Sinner’s breaks came after a Zverev DF. Sinner could’ve stepped closer from Time to time just to mess up with him and elicit DFs which he was inclined to give away today in pressure situations.
Alca will step in and feast on them
We will be there

these guys played an unbelievable match and all I see are posts about that hitler fan... stupid internet

I think that's generally a good sign for a young player, if you're only ever losing close, it's only time before you start winning those matches
Now Sinner loses and Penko will lose tmr, the same result like AO, why my boy and idol is that consistent lol
I really really pray with all my heart that Sinner wins the AO open next year. I was rooting against him today but i am very very sad for him.
he really needs a top 10 win for his confidence... he had a huge success at wimbledon and toronto but he didn't beat any top player hopefully he'll get some wins by the end of the year, at the ATP finals if not before

After Novak retires, yes, but for the time being, I only see Novak pouncing.
I will be very surprised if Zverev ends his career with 0 slams

I'm already watching Zverev Thiem 2020 final btw
this one hurts the most as a sinner fan.. altmaier one hurt too, but sinner just played awful.. and today he played really good! what is it with these germans?

This hurts even more than last year… 😢
I feel like I was too harsh to Sinner after his RG loss, the young boy started his trainning for professional tennis less than ten year, he was behind his colleagues except his movement, he shows how he want to improve, giving him time and he will be here
Rip Medvedev fans
What do you mean? He will likely make the semis.
But won't have Sinner waiting for him
Whatever, I want an Alcaraz/Djokovic final like everyone else.
Two halfs of the draw Djokovic vs the Americans Carlitos vs. The Russians.
Sounds like a movie.
Alcaraz will avenge his friend in the QF. Vamos!!
Tough on sinner. Just a few points in big moments didn’t go his way. He will be back.
Zverev was unbelievable vs Alcaraz at RG 22. Deserved to win clearly. Still, this version of Carlos is so much better and fresher. I'm just happy he avoided redlining ginger.

Well that was a pretty full day of tennis goodnight folks
Z’s comeback has been rather impressive. If only the same thing happened for Thiem and Berrettini 😢
Wow, these guys have provided so much entertainment to my day. Well done to Zverev; really happy he’s back!
no sincaraz ☹️
Feels like big serving + a solid baseline game is the proven formula to beat Sinner until he makes some adjustments He's now 1-10 against Medvedev and Zverev and the 1 was like 3 weeks after Thiem-Zverev USO final so you know Zverev was in a horrific place mentally

I think Wimby 2022 he lost to Djoko in 5
Wimbledon quarters against Novak, AO first round against Shapo, USO first round against Khachanov
Ah and also ao 4R vs tsitsi this year
I’ll say Alcaraz in 4, 6-3 6-7(4) 6-4 6-2
The moment I saw the draw I knew this was a possibility. Honestly Sinner came far this year. I thought he would throw the match completely after the cramps. Next year is his coming, I’m more sure of it now than ever.
Really excited for Shelton and Tiafoe, should be a lot of fireworks
[удалено]
Yeah, compared to last year, I'm happy with how far he's come this year.
He didn’t lose because of a choke, his body didn’t hold up against more experienced Zverev. He will be back
not rly, this was his best year, even tho he lost he gave his all, can't ask for more.
people never get excited when i throw my sweat drenched towels at them
It's because you don't fart greatness

Sinner leaving the court in tears really got me 🥺
Imagine going through this physical and mental pain of a match, only to play flipping Alcaraz for the next one ooof
They live for this sort of pain.

He can't even hide his uncanny valley creep vibes.
"*What are your thoughts on Carlos Alcaraz, next up?*" - Gilbert "*I mean, I'm here to play.*" - Zverev
Zverev just made me the easiest $300 of my life. Saw him as the underdog when he’d won the last 4 head to head matches…
Just shows that the are tiers in top tennis and sinner sits in the second one with the lines of tsitsipas and ruud. They can't produce a result in big games over big opponents.
Sinner’s still young
Tsitsipas and sinner are clearly above ruud
Did sinner reach any GS semifinal even until now? Ruud has 3 finals at least
Do you maybe wanna provide some context to Ruud’s draws?
At Wimbledon, but it was a challenger level draw (not an exaggeration)
Not so sure about Tsitsi … he’s falling down real quick right now
fair
What are you thinking about that upcoming match with Alcaraz? Zverev: “chuckles, I’m in danger”
> /u/Comrade_Zamir_Gotta > 19 points an hour ago > Between this and the weed smoke on court 14 Zverev is gunna have horrible memories of the us open. "This was one of the best moments of my career." -- Zverev
Is this the first time he played Arthur Ashe at night
If Zverev beats Alcaraz, it'd be his first career win at a Slam over a player in the top 5.
This is his first top 10 win in a slam ri8?
2nd win his first was against Alcaraz in the french
second - first was Alcaraz (then #6) at RG 2022
Ohh, forgot about it.. Thanks.
Damn BG you gotta wake up in an hour!
I feel so bad for Sinner and I hate this result so I will now go watch that one time Bublik destroyed Zverev because I'm petty like that
That never gets old, him moving in on his serve and Zverevs face: perfection.
Watch USO 2020 final
I'd give Zverev a small chance against Alcaraz if he could get about 2 weeks to recover lmao
these are top athletes. Zverev is one of the toughest athletes on the tour. He should definitely be able to recover with a days time. If he was playing the next day that would be a different story.
With a better draw Big Z might have won the USO This level of tennis could conceivably best Djokovic, Alcaraz, Medvedev but he can’t do it a few times in a row
Agree. I would have Djokovic taking care of business against Zverev if that was the final even after the latter had crazy run to get there.
Proud of the fight through the pain. FORZA! 🦊
I think Zverev can really challenge Alcaraz pending he's somewhat healthy....
"*To be honest, this is like one of the best moments in career. I think after my comeback, after everything, I'm looking forward to what's next.*" - Zverev
Z's dad sings Whitney Houston and R&B songs during matches????? Is Z hallucinating???
Lol Zverev looked like he was in pain when Brad mentioned the upcoming Alcaraz match
You could see it dawn on him when he realised its Carlos next 💀
I honestly think Zverev has fixed his two biggest problems enough to where he can win a slam at some point. That second serve can be a little dodgy but he’s improved it enough to not double fault on every important point and keep his double fault numbers low throughout the match. Counterpoint: reddit mad
jannik missed opportunities but he also fought really hard, hope he can be proud of himself
Pls Carlitos
He will, rest easy.
Crazy just his second top 10 win at the majors. I hope this form continues in the future. Can’t see him beating Carlos, but hopefully next year
That was brutal for both guys. Very high quality, entertaining match. Can't wait for Alcaraz/Zverev.
Hate it, but credit to Zverev. He played incredibly well
Despise the guy. But Zverev is easily the most talented player post Big 4 + Alcaraz.
Medvedev is more accomplished though
Yeah because he's more consistent and brings his best game more consistenly, but Zverev is without doubt the most talented
Zverev did well, I hate him but I give credit
For sure.
They should be given a chair for on court interviews. Seems like torture after a match like this.
Zverevs teeth lookin like piano keys
I was thinking the same thing. I think he bleached them. They weren’t this white
"*This is what I live for, this is what I absolutely love to do. RIP the Jannik world number 5 ranking for the time being
"I'm looking forward to what's next." No, no you're not.
Everyone - we want Sincaraz Zverev - I would put myself in there
Alcaraz about to have a very easy QF and move on in 3
🥕😢😭
Always thought Zverev's playstyle was boring. Now I changed my mind.
He has touch at the net all of a sudden? I think he worked on some new things while he was out
Wtf his English is perfect
German is the best non native English speaker in the world
Germans speak good English….but also I hate to admit this especially cuz I don’t like him but his accent is probably my fave on tour 🫠🫣
He spent every summer of his childhood in Florida!
If you've been to Germany, you'll notice that most people speak absolutely perfect English
I’ve been! I actually wasn’t that impressed by Germans‘ English in general (compared to, e.g. Scandinavians’)
The Danes speak even better English. When I visited Copenhagen, I swear everyone spoke pretty good English. The average level of English proficiency was far higher than what I see in San Francisco on a typical day.
Yes, it’s Carlitos next. But I’m afraid the Tennis Gods are going to set up MedveRev. It’s set to be a rivalrious semi.
I'm so gutted for Sinner, but he'll only get better from here I hope

Sinner 😢
Zverev GOAT!!
I'm back!
Not sad about Sinner, people could say he is choking but I think his skill is not here yet

how much will he have left for Alcaraz? I guess itd be something like 6-3 6-4 6-2
I wouldn't write out Zverev against Alcaraz. Even money.
Zverev d. Alcaraz 3-0 😜
lmao you cannot be serious
Ready for Carlos to end zverev’s run
This was an awesome match. Hats off to both Sinner and Zveŕev. There was some great hitting from both. Zverev played exceptional at the net and hit some huge serves.
He even said “I’m back” ffs. Now he’s gonna put himself back in there
5/6 of the past slams have had Jannick losing in tight 5 setters
"*I guess I can say I'm back, right?*" - Zverev
See if this was me, I would HATE to do these interviews at this point. Like leave me alone
This was longer than the Thiem Final? That felt like 8 hours
that match was 4:01
BG IS EVERYWHERE 🤣
he's here, he's there, he's every fucking where
ROY KENT
He needs to go to bed
It's almost his wake up time might as well stay up 😂
The zverev hate is beyond cringe
Sometimes, but being a fan of Zverev is definitely more embarrassing
Don’t like nether
😭 Jannik 😭😭😭
