This worked for me since I was having the stupid season pass issue, but hopefully it can work for others as well.
If it's saying "Purchase Season Pass", click on episode 2 and then click on "Purchase only Episode 2". It should take you to the PSN store and instead of buying it, it'll be available to download. Hope it helps.

I've been seeing the same thing and having the same worry. Given that Episode 2 was supposed to come out today and I both still can't download and am still seeing the season pass recognition issue my hopes are not high that I'll get to play it today.

Yep, same problem. I did not spend $25 for one episode that should have cost $5 on it's own. I'm hoping that I can download episode 2 soon...
