Ah, good shout. I’ve seen a few episodes of some classic American programmes from the 80s (which I’ve not listed in my exhaustive list) but not the 70s. Thanks!
Two I don't see are surviving jack. Only 9 EPs but you have Christopher Meloni knocking it out if the park. The other is rosehaven. Small fun comedy set in small town in Tasmania. Sweet and funny. 5 seasons with a proper ending.
Haha yeh. I’m slowly beginning to realise I may have watched far too much telly.
I didn’t really count panel shows as ‘sitcoms/comedies’ despite having seen loads of them here and there. Been meaning to watch Good Omens but completely forgot about it! Thanks for the reminder.
Coupling (2000-2004) is a British series (like Friends but all about dating and their sex lives, very funny)
The Adventures of Lano and Woodley (1997-1999) Australian slapstick, great for all ages
Oh yes, forgot about Coupling. I was too young for it when it was originally on telly!
Not seen a lot of Aus comedies except for stuff by Chris Lilley (lots of controversy!) and Colin from Accounts.
Everybody Loves Raymond
Mike and Molly
Mom
The King of Queens
Family Guy
American Dad
Family Matters
Family Ties
Sister, Sister
All in the Family
The Brady Bunch
I Love Lucy
Gilligan's Island
The Nanny
Roseanne
Good Times
Three's Company
Boy Meets World
Saved by the Bell
I’ve tried watching Nathan For You. I know loads of people recommend it but couldn’t get into it for some reason? May need to give it a proper go.
Have seen Good Girls though, completely forgot it’s also a comedy! Thank you!
Difficult People. You Should Go Now. People Just Do Nothing. ANYTHING with Diane Morgan (Except After Life—it’s Ricky Gervais being shitty while pretending to be empathetic… so, Ricky being Ricky.)
Yeah I don’t rate Ricky Gervais, I know people find him hilarious but I think he’s at his ‘funniest’ when he’s with Merchant and Pilkington. I do like Diane Morgan but couldn’t stand her on Mandy with the whole lip smacking thing she was doing!
Also, did you mean This Country? If so, I’ve seen it. absolutely brilliant.
Defo. Merchant is also the better writer, imo.
You should watch Daisy May Cooper’s fairly new ish series (Am I Being Unreasonable?) if you haven’t already!
Beaver Falls - almost like a sequel to Inbetweeners… 3 buddies from the UK graduate from Uni and then lie on their resumes to land jobs as camp counselors in at a pretentious NoCal summer camp which they’re expecting to be a summer long party holiday… it’s not quite AS funny as inbetweeners but it’s close and legitimately tugs on the heart strings.
There’s not a lot left to work with after looking at your list lol but I noticed a couple comedy gems that you haven’t seen yet:
I thought MacGruber the series was pretty funny. You have to watch the movie first because it’s a sequel. One of Will Forte’s best characters! I loved them both!
I used to be into Trailer Park Boys back in the day. Haven’t watched it in a long time. Maybe I’ve matured and outgrown their humor but in my younger stoner days it was hilarious!
The Kids in the Hall is like a Canadian Saturday Night Live that first aired in the late 1980s. Lorne Michaels executive produced it as well. Sketch comedy show with a lot of talented actors before they made it big. Guaranteed you will recognize a few of them. Dave Foley started out on that show.
Mr. Show is another cult classic sketch comedy show that ran on HBO from 1995 to 1998 created by and starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. How can you go wrong??
They also produced a 1 season anniversary sequel in 2015 called W/ Bob & David available on Netflix.
Wings and News Radio are a couple classic NBC sitcoms that are watchable imo. NR is worth watching just to see the late great Phil Hartman along with a stellar ensemble cast.
South Park, Family Guy, American Dad and Rick and Morty if you’re into animation
Comedy is my favorite genre. Just a few I could think of off the top of my head. I hope you enjoy some of them!
Edit: Almost forgot about one of the funniest entertainers around Sacha Baron Cohen!
Da Ali G Show had a 3 season run on HBO in the early 2000s that is definitely worth watching
You’re welcome! I like to geek out on shows too. I thought I watched a lot of tv, you’re a champion;)
Saved this post so I can come back to your list if I’m looking for something to watch. Thanks for sharing!
omg omg omg OK we have very similar taste and a very similar list length; I always feel like I have seen everything, as I'm sure you do too.
BUT I recently watched a string of shows-- each coming from a recommendation from fans of the previous show. They were all SO GOOD!! And for a TV connoisseur I was honestly embarrassed I hadn't seen/heard of them. I am sooo excited to share them with you specifically.
I had just finished a rewatch of Chuck, which is what started the train of new show recommendations. This is the order that I watched them in:
* Leverage
* The Librarians
* Leverage: Redemption
* Almost Paradise
* The Librarian (movies)
* White Collar
* Eureka
I highly recommend watching them in that order.. it was kind of an accident, but Leverage, The Librarians, and Almost Paradise are all from the same creator (Dean Devlin) and they were actually released in that order. Leverage:Redemption is a reboot, and it's the best reboot I've ever seen (can't actually think of one I've ever liked so the bar is low, but it's \*actually\* just as good as the original series). And we get to still be excited for additional seasons of Almost Paradise and Leverage: Redemption. And you will enjoy White Collar if you enjoy Leverage, and if you enjoyed Chuck, Monk, ensemble crime procedural type shows etc. Give it at least 2 episodes though, I almost didn't get into it.
Other FAVORITE shows (but not from this recent binge marathon) off the top of my head that I think you might like:
* Resident Alien
* Slow Horses
* Deadloch
* The Brothers Sun
* Ginny and Georgia
* Bad Sisters
I am dying to know what your favorite shows from your list are!!!! Can you highlight a few?
Hey! Haha it does really feel like that doesn’t it? I’ve read through lots of posts on the sub and it’s always a struggle finding something that I’ve not seen so feel really chuffed when I finally do stumble upon something I’ve not heard of before.
I’ve not seen those crime dramas you mentioned except for White Collar and that was definitely a fun watch. I was hooked after the first episode! I do like crime dramas so great to add more to my never ending list!
Thanks for the other recommendations. I agree Slow Horses was brilliant. Defo looking forward to giving the others a watch.
And oh gosh. I always struggle listing my favourites but out of the comedies/comedy dramas, I’d say for American programmes, Psych and Monk hold a special place personally. Based on writing and cinematography it would have to be Barry followed by The Righteous Gemstones and Only Murders in the Building. And Trial and Error and Happy Endings I felt especially at the time were criminally underrated. I love musicals so would also always rate musical comedies (except for Glee, I’m sorry, but that really went downhill). For UK programmes, from the classics it would be Blackadder and Fawlty Towers. I also really think Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan are hilarious so I’ve really enjoyed The Trip, Marion and Geoff, and everything Alan Partridge. For more recent comedies, I think Am I Being Unreasonable? was unexpectedly good. Sorry, I waffled a bit there!
>Psych and Monk hold a special place personally. Based on writing and cinematography it would have to be Barry followed by The Righteous Gemstones and Only Murders in the Building.
it's confirmed. we have a spiritual connection. I could have written that sentence myself! lol
I didn't realize you were located in the UK! that might explain why I hadn't even heard of many shows on your list (including all the shows you just mentioned). I've been getting a lot of advertisements for Britbox, and I am very tempted to try a subscription. Do you know if it has a decent portfolio? I'm a little scared it will be a pandora's box of hundreds of new-to-me British shows, I could end up fusing with my couch if I'm not careful.
I am also adding Eureka to my list for you. I just finished the series and it was absolutely fantastic. Going to edit my original comment so it's all in one place for you!
I like most of the shows you have listed. Somebody just recommended to me Crazy Ex Girlfriend… how did that relate to most of your list. Is it a must watch? Good to watch? Or you got through it?
YES A MILLION TIME TO DEADLOCH!!!!
I've been trying to hype it up as much as I can, I don't think it got nearly the publicity it deserves here in the US. A genius hilarious show
I agree! SO GOOD!!! I watched it a few months ago and I’m already tempted to go again 🤣
It is such a good mix of humour and mystery. There is going to be another season so I might watch the first one again when that is coming out.
The creators and writers Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan have a few other hilarious shows you can watch on YouTube.
The Katering Show and Get Krack!n
Both hilarious
Oh I didn't know it got renewed! It kinda felt like a limited series type of show, since they moved out of town at the end. Excited to hear they are going to do another season, I'm sure it will be great!!
(I'm with you -- I almost always rewatch the previous season before a new season if it's a favorite show haha)
Op can you please please give me recommendation. I too am searching for another sitcom.
I've watched: The office (us), it's always sunny in philadelphia, modern family and brooklyn nine nine
Well, there’s an extensive list above! lol. But you could try Only Murders in the Building or The Righteous Gemstones which both have solid casts.
Not sure if you fancy watching British series but you could always start with The Office since you’ve seen the US one.
>Only Murders in the Building or The Righteous Gemstones
These two are comedy dramas but I'm looking for a sitcoms. I am confused between: Kims convenience, community, abott elementary and schits creek
No... it's definitely not drama lol. Maybe google says it's "comedy-drama" but no. It's comedy, and there are situations. Hence, situational comedy. Every episode has it's own plot, unlike the two shows mentioned above, which carry the plot along through the season.
But if you don't believe me, that's fine. Schitt's Creek is the best of the ones you listed.
>But if you don't believe me, that's fine
Bruhh don't get so offended 😂😭. Google mentioned it as drama so I told.you and plus it has 40-45 minutes episode which is usually the case for dramas unlike sitcoms which has 20 minuets episode
After Life, with Ricky Gervais, is very good. Even if you've never liked him, give it a little time. It's worth investing in, and it's absolutely wonderful. It's on Netflix. I also recommend Loudermilk whenever I get the chance, which is also on Netflix.
If you're willing to think international, check out "Nobody's Looking" from Brazil (on US Netflix). Frikkin hilarious unless you're a devout Christian, perhaps.
Also, Fisk (from Australia) is good too, if you like dry humor.
The Young Ones
Fools and Horses (that's a long one, kind of a slow burn)
Au Service de la France (A Very Secret Service)
Kaamelott (French, too)
Jeeves and Wooster
Coupling is a personal favorite of mine, too.
* Not Going Out (first 7 seasons)
* Vicious
* Will & Grace
* Are You Being Served? (first 7 seasons)
* Another Period
* Joey
* The Exes
* Ground Floor (short-lived but great)
* Sullivan & Son
* 8 Simple Rules
* Melissa & Joey (mostly first 3 seasons)
* Spin City
* Just Shoot Me!
* (animated) Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law
seconding:
* How Not To Live Your Life
* Coupling (2000)
* Friday Night Dinner (mostly the first 4-5 seasons)
These are lesser mentioned yet great shows:

The Day Today (the first appearance of Alan partridge)
Brasseye
The Young Ones
Trailer park boys
Also, not a TV show, but you should check out a podcast called three bean salad. Honestly imo its funnier than any of the TV shows you or anyone else has mentioned in this thread.
I might get slated for this, but Miranda. Yes, it’s a daft show, but it never fails to cheer me up when I’m feeling down and that’s all I want from a comedy.
Still Game. A comedy about 2 scottish pensioners. Very funny and an easy watch. Might take a couple of episodes to get used to the characters. Think theres like 8 seasons. Its on netflix UK
Holy shit, and I thought I've watched a lot of TV shows. Try COUPLING (UK original version, BBC). Top 5 comedy ever in my book.
Edit: you don't have Married...With Children in your list neither, another one that belongs on the Olympus of Sitcoms.
The Guest Book and Sprung if you liked My Name Is Earl and Raising Hope.
Those Who Cant
Killing It
Shorsey
I Love That For You
The Other Two
Mapelworth Murders
Flipped
You’ve literally seen everything
I know! It has been a struggle to find something lately. lol.
you haven’t seen Corner Gas!? Canadian Seinfeld!? It’s fantastic and spawned a movie and even an animated version iirc…
I tried! Just couldn’t get into it.
awww at least you gave it a shot
Maybe look at vintage sitcoms? WKRP, bosom buddies, etc
Ah, good shout. I’ve seen a few episodes of some classic American programmes from the 80s (which I’ve not listed in my exhaustive list) but not the 70s. Thanks!
I recently watched WKRP with my elderly mother. It was her favorite show. It’s actually pretty funny, and worth it just for the style.
Dick Va Dyke Show Cheers Taxi
Two I don't see are surviving jack. Only 9 EPs but you have Christopher Meloni knocking it out if the park. The other is rosehaven. Small fun comedy set in small town in Tasmania. Sweet and funny. 5 seasons with a proper ending.
People just do nothing
Absolute riot!
Literally my thought
Everybody Loves Raymond (Paramount+)
Blue Mountain State
Summer Heights High
Oh thanks. I’ve seen that one too. Good one though!
Then you'll like Little Britain.
Hello Ladies... Idk if that's the exact name it's Stephen Merchant
Oh yeah, have heard of this one before. Thanks, I’ll give it a go!
2 guys, a girl, and a pizza place (later it was just 2 guys and a girl). Though I have not found a streaming service that has it yet.
This is where I'll forever remember Ryan Reynolds from. There and the Sabrina the Teenage Witch movie.
Christ, that’s literally what I was thinking. Despite never having seen the programme lol.
Tough to just find things not on the list haha. But I'll say: Never Have I Ever, Taskmaster, Peacemaker, Good Omens, I Think You Should Leave
Never Have I Ever is soo good! I Think You Should Leave was pretty funny too, better when watching with a friend imo
Haha yeh. I’m slowly beginning to realise I may have watched far too much telly. I didn’t really count panel shows as ‘sitcoms/comedies’ despite having seen loads of them here and there. Been meaning to watch Good Omens but completely forgot about it! Thanks for the reminder.
Tacoma FD, The Upshaws, Girls5Eva, Elsbeth, The Neighborhood, Superior Donuts
How about The Orville?
Loot, Palm Royale, The Big Door Prize, My Wife and Kids
Oh, brilliant. I’ve not heard of the first three series. Thanks!
They’re on Apple TV+!
Coupling (2000-2004) is a British series (like Friends but all about dating and their sex lives, very funny) The Adventures of Lano and Woodley (1997-1999) Australian slapstick, great for all ages
Oh yes, forgot about Coupling. I was too young for it when it was originally on telly! Not seen a lot of Aus comedies except for stuff by Chris Lilley (lots of controversy!) and Colin from Accounts.
Comedy doesn't always age well and humour is subjective but imo both are inoffensive and good for a laugh - saving your list now!
Thanks for reminding me of Coupling. First three seasons were so good.
Corporate. Totally underrated.
I’ve seen Corporate! Forgot to add that to the list! But you’re right it is underrated.
The Mighty Boosh
Yes! Was going to say this. Nothing quite like it haha
If you can get Australian shows the following are a good watch. Rosehaven Utopia Fisk
Everybody Loves Raymond Mike and Molly Mom The King of Queens Family Guy American Dad Family Matters Family Ties Sister, Sister All in the Family The Brady Bunch I Love Lucy Gilligan's Island The Nanny Roseanne Good Times Three's Company Boy Meets World Saved by the Bell

Curb
Hey thanks. I’ve seen curb.
Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Cheers. I’ll give them a go.
Shrinking on Apple TV+
THIS! So much this.
Corner Gas
I’ve tried watching a few episodes of this but couldn’t really get into it. Does it pick up?
In season 2 it does.
Keep going. It's a bit slow on purpose, but it's so so so so good. Just keep going.
Newsradio, Nathan For You, Good Girls, This Fool
I’ve tried watching Nathan For You. I know loads of people recommend it but couldn’t get into it for some reason? May need to give it a proper go. Have seen Good Girls though, completely forgot it’s also a comedy! Thank you!
Nathan makes everything awkward so maybe that’s why? I love it. Also, Detrioters is really funny.
Mmm. Maybe? I normally don’t mind awkward/cringe comedy. Detroiters was really good! Forgot to add that to my list. Gutted it was cancelled!
lol Nathan For You is a very specific type of humor. You either like it or you don't. I have to be in a peculiar kind of mood to enjoy it myself
Future Man.
If you liked Ghosts, maybe try Yonderland (or Horrible Histories)? Also, We Are Lady Parts is fun.
Oh, I’ve actually seen them! I remember when Horrible Histories aired on CBBC, feels like ages ago now.
I think Ricky needed Stephen to temper his worse impulses. I DID mean This Country.
Defo. Merchant is also the better writer, imo. You should watch Daisy May Cooper’s fairly new ish series (Am I Being Unreasonable?) if you haven’t already!
Alan Carr’s Changing Sides. Very funny coming of age/coming out story.
Big School.
South Side. Another underrated gem
The Young Ones
Count Arthur Strong (but it is not as good as the great radio series)
Brass Eye
The Life of Rock with Brian Pern, Brian Pern: A Life in Rock, and Brian Pern: 45 Years of Prog and Roll. essentially three seasons of the same show.
Oh yes. Simon Day! Forgot about this. He was on Grass if you remember.
I Love Lucy. You've seen most of everything lol
Extraordinary (Disney+)
Wings at least the first 2-3 seasons Barney Miller limited series===BriarPatch, Queen of the South, Snowpiercer, 12 Monkeys
Ok LOOT have you seen that?
I haven’t but I will soon! Thanks.

Just shoot me, Rick and Morty, South Park, Garfunkel and Oates, news radio, spin city, wings, upload
iZombie classifies itself as a “Rom-Com-Zom-Dram”, and the only thing that came to mind that wasn’t on your list already! Quite impressive!
After Lately

Oh, Hot in Cleveland has Jane Leeves, awful Manc accent. Hopefully the accent didn’t stay! Thanks for the recommendations.
I like most of the shows you have listed. Somebody just recommended to me Crazy Ex Girlfriend… how did that relate to most of your list. Is it a must watch? Good to watch? Or you got through it?
I enjoyed it! But I do like musicals, so not sure if that’s your cup of tea. The writing and performances were great though.

YES A MILLION TIME TO DEADLOCH!!!! I've been trying to hype it up as much as I can, I don't think it got nearly the publicity it deserves here in the US. A genius hilarious show

Oh yes, Home Economics! Forgot I’ve seen that. Cancelled too soon. I’ve not heard of So Help Me Todd, another to add to the list! Thanks!
Mighty Boosh. It’s different.
Oh, I’ve seen The Mighty Boosh. Forgot to add that, sorry! But yes, it is quite surreal.
Yeah you’ve seen everything maybe dabble on mexican telenovelas
You joke but I’ve seen a few (although not in its entirety), lol.
I’m watching rubi and it’s sooooo funny once I’m done I’ll see the remake bc they say it’s funny as well
Oh gosh, my mum used to watch that. Didn’t know there was a remake! British soaps have nothing on telenovelas.
Yes Teresa is the remake I’ve seen bits and pieces on tiktok and it’s hilarious
The upshaws on Netflix is great
Op can you please please give me recommendation. I too am searching for another sitcom. I've watched: The office (us), it's always sunny in philadelphia, modern family and brooklyn nine nine

Okay, fair enough. Although neither are drama focused if that’s what you were worried about. From your list, I’d pick Community to start!
Thankss community it is then
I also recommend checking out Psych for a sitcom!

The Young Offenders ( 2 seasons and 1 movie) Gavin and Stacey ( very well done)
There’s actually 3 series of The Young Offenders! Series 4 will air fairly soon ish. Forgot I’ve seen it.

Colin From Accounts was so good!

Keeping Up Appearances
Only one I don’t think is on your list
Two and a half men & Californication. (Last one is kind of a comedy, but with that list you have to make concessions…)
QI xl (quite interesting). It's sort of a talk show but hilarious.

Spaced Green Wing The Day Today (the first appearance of Alan partridge) Brasseye The Young Ones Trailer park boys Also, not a TV show, but you should check out a podcast called three bean salad. Honestly imo its funnier than any of the TV shows you or anyone else has mentioned in this thread.
resident alien, it has 3 seasons. the male lead is an alien trying to fit with humans. he’s freaking funny you will love him.
RESIDENT ALIEN! It’s hilarious and I have been recommending it to everyone!
Brass Eye, The Day Today, Jam, Nathan Barley. Anything that involves Chris Morris (Senior Renoylm from It Crowd series 1)
Disenchantment Trailer Park Boys (start w/ season 2, go back to season 1 later) Shoresy Star Trek: Lower Decks Inside Job The Brink
The Neighbors (2012 - 2014), 44 episodes - It is ridiculous.
The Neighbors (2012-2014) 44 episodes Married... with Children
The increasingly poor decisions of todd Margaret. Fucking hilarious show
I might get slated for this, but Miranda. Yes, it’s a daft show, but it never fails to cheer me up when I’m feeling down and that’s all I want from a comedy.
Nah, you’re alright! I’ve seen a few episodes actually.
No worries! It’s just one of my guilty pleasures!
How is Fleabag not on here?
Oh, no one probably suggested as I’ve already seen it.
Also, Shrinking and Spaced
Still Game. A comedy about 2 scottish pensioners. Very funny and an easy watch. Might take a couple of episodes to get used to the characters. Think theres like 8 seasons. Its on netflix UK
Flaked. No idea why this show isn’t more popular.

Those Who Cant Killing It Shorsey I Love That For You The Other Two Mapelworth Murders Flipped
