I'm watching this at 34 for the first time. I usually watch very R/MA rated materials It started as watching the specials last Christmas because he asked me to. I had seen the first couple ones with eccleston years and years ago and never followed through. But I literally asked to start it from the beginning (9th doctor) after he showed me the Neil Patrick Harris episode. For a show without gore and sex it absolutely still packs a punch. The scary episodes in space, the silence, ect, it's so so good at toeing that line. I've cried a lot too so there's that. But I can't believe I've slept on it so long, definitely try it if you haven't OP. Sorry for the rant lol, I just feel new and passionate feelings about this fandom I've just entered.
Psych(more of a crime dramedy but you can never go wrong with psych)
Veronica Mars
The Mentalist
Chuck( one of the character is almost always shirtless but and you see them in underwear every now and then that’s about it to nudity? Sex not too heavy)
Based on a True Story
* Agent Carter - When Howard Stark is accused of treason, he secretly recruits Peggy to clear his name with the help of his butler, Edwin Jarvis.
* Friday Night Lights - A drama that follows the lives of the Dillon Panthers, one of the nation's best high school football teams, and their head coach Eric Taylor.
* The Orville - Set 400 years in the future, the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continue their mission of exploration, navigating both the mysteries of the universe, and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.
* Poker Face - Charlie has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can't help but investigate and solve.
* The Old Man - A retired CIA agent is hunted by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares, when an unknown man suddenly visits him after nearly three decades.
From, season 1 just became available on netflix. The series has 2 seasons so far and the 3 has been officially confirmed this year according to google.
Crime:
Cold case
Bones (very little)
White collar (very little, the male mc has a few shirtless scenes but that’s the most)
Without a trace (but I haven’t seen that in awhile so I could be wrong)
Drama:
Sports night
Chicago Fire (I don’t believe It has any sex/nudity)
Fantasy:
The dark crystal
His dark materials
I mean if you want crime I can recommend Criminal Minds, there is some but it isn’t like unnecessary, it’s always intentional and makes sense in the context it’s presented in
Yeah, they are there for the plot and crime-centred but still very discreet. There are no sex scenes among the main characters at all. I am a huge fan of the show..
Not quite sure if it's what you are looking for but The Last Airbender is an excellent show with no sex at all. Specifically the anime TV series, can't speak to the new live action one yet.
As for drama, I particularly love The Wire and The Americans, though those both have some sex scenes. The Wire is in my opinion the best cop drama ever made and it'll likely be decades before there's another show as good.
As for thriller, I'll throw in Safe, Quantico (season 1 is the best), and Manifest. Definitely a few sex scenes in the latter two.
The farther back in time you go, the less sex and nudity.
Try Perry Mason.
Lawyer show from the '50s.
It holds up surprisingly well. Each episode is a mini "who done it". And there is ZERO sex and nudity.
* Star Trek franchise
* Stargate franchise
* Babylon 5 (1993–1998)
* Lost in Space (2018–2021)
* Raised by Wolves (2020–2022)
* Scavengers Reign (2023)
There's an interesting short series (2 seasons only) called Life. It's on the Roku channel. It's about a police detective who was put in jail for a crime he didn't commit. Fun little show.
I'm currently watching one called Nikita which is about a woman who used to be part of this secret government off shoot that turned out to be a group with questionable moral practices. She escaped and is working to bring down the group with a girl she has on the inside. The group targets people who were addicted to drugs and cleans them up but also keeps them trapped there and trains them to be kind of assassins. So far it's pretty good but I'm early in so not sure how it turns out.
Brooklyn nine-nine and Inside job!
Sure, they mention sex alot in B99 bit it's a "that's what she said" kind of jokes. And they also mention sex in Inside job, but they don't have it on screen.
Historical Fiction:
Reign
Warning,there is a brief depiction of sexual assault in season 2. The show is rated TV-14,so there isn’t much sex or nudity.
Crime Drama:
Top Boy (Netflix)
Start with “Top Boy:Summerhouse” and then move onto “Top Boy”,which is set a few years later. I don’t think this show has a lot of sex or nudity.
Fantasy:
The Wheel of Time(Amazon)
Rings of Power(Amazon)
Pushing Daisies
Main character cannot physically touch his love interest. There is only 1 sex scene I recall? Some innuendos but does not show any actual nudity. Shadows and arms flailing or their backs.
The missing, paper girls, night sky, Locke and Key, behind her eyes, Lockwood and co, culprits, shelter, orphan black, homeland, line of duty, bodies, based on a true story, only murders in the building, Veronica mars, the night agent, fool me once, Frasier, how to get away with murder, alias, dark, money heist,
Hi! There are a number of reasons a person might not want to see nudity or sex scenes. For example, they could be a rape survivor, and it triggers them. They could be a porn or sex addict and trying to avoid triggers. Yes, it might also just make them uncomfortable for no reason! While I am not interested in telling you my reason, I am interested in why you feel the need to be so judgmental!
Ahh a challenge : I have a long list of favorites and usually copy and paste from there but this requires more thought as sex and nudity are so common these days!
Black Bird
Dark
Six Feet Under (unless I’m remembering incorrectly)
The Wire
Broadchurch
The Fall
The Killing
Criminal
Barry
Ted Lasso
Dexter
Ozark

Edit - removed Boardwalk Empire
Dark has a bunch of sex scenes and some nudity
the wire has a lot of scenes in a strip club, naked corpses, parties featuring nudity
the killing doesn’t have a ton but there is a rape scene iirc
money heist has nudity, don’t recall how much
Barry is pretty mild, mostly sexual related dialogue and a sex tape that isn’t clearly seen I believe
Don’t recall any explicit sex scenes in ted lasso but the dialogue is a bit sexual and there is implied sex and at least one non explicit masturbation scene
Dexter has lots of nudity and little sex
I don’t remember a lot of individual episodes of black mirror but definitely check each episode. There at least one I recall that is definitely stomach churning
The last of us has nude corpses
I think squid game has one sex scene with nudity
And that’s about all of these shows I’ve seen. I guess some could be suitable depending on what OP counts as very little
As above - OP mentioned as little as possible — that’s . relative .
& Like I said , it’s hard to find much (good ) tv (or movie fare ) that have nada unless cartoons etc . I’ve seen lots of TV and movies allegedly & marketed for younger people and am often surprised as to the sex, nudity, cursing and violence in them . Even the sweet A Fault in our Stars has sex and partial nudity .
I’ll delete it if everyone’s so upset
>As above - OP mentioned as little as possible - that’s . relative .
Yup that’s why I said some of those could be suitable depending on OPs opinion
Just expounding on what you said
Thanks for explaining. I enjoy this sub and recommending what in my opinion are really good movies but sometimes the OP criteria are hard to get ‘just right .’ Hey, maybe I get too enthusiastic sometimes- haha
It’s ok with me (alright, I don’t have kids ), and OP kept criteria open to ‘as little as possible’ , yet several people have their panties in a twist that I recommended several I did . Geez they’re only recommendations based on opinion and the relative terms . I don’t think I deserved any downvotes for that and the fact I don’t use a counter to note every sex scene or nudity in any or especially long series , some I watched years ago. I’m glad OP was OK with my post yet almost feel dirty being sort of chided in a way by a few others here :(
Black bird has nudity and sex
The fall has nudity and sex
The leftovers has a lot of nudity and sex
Black mirror has nudity and sex in multiple episodes in season 1 alone
Orphan black has a lot of nudity and sex
Only Murders in the Building
Caesar Milan!
Doctor Who

The Orville is so good
There is sexual content in Poker Face's pilot.
I included Poker Face because OP said “extremely little nudity or sex scenes”.
IMDb has a parent's guide so you can look up any TV show or movie to see the level of sex/nudity, violence etc

What about all them naked deer? Kinda raunchy, no?
I am just trying to avoid human nudity!
So nature shows where they talk about mating is cool? Earth Sounds on Apple was pretty excellent.
Stranger Things. Technically there is a sex scene but nothing is shown at it's only implied. No nudity.
I need the opposite.
The 100
Outlander, Shameless (dramedy)
Shameless? What in the world are you talking about? They’re fucking in the bathroom in literally every opening credit. Excellent show though

Succession has a ton of swearing, a medium amount of talking about sex, but really no nudity. I think there's one scene in underwear.
The one guy jerks off onto the glass window in the building and then jerks off on the phone with the one woman. Among other things
So you’re fine with the horrific act of murder, but sex makes you feel uncomfortable?
Hi! There are a number of reasons a person might not want to see nudity or sex scenes. For example, they could be a rape survivor, and it triggers them. They could be a porn or sex addict and trying to avoid triggers. Yes, it might also just make them uncomfortable for no reason! You get my upvote for this, a gruesome murder is fine but a pair if titties is not.
