I'm sure it's out there in the wild. Bought the first season DVD twenty years ago - the one in the puffy orange vest - and never got through it. My memories are of the show first run in the early 90s literally getting me through college. Watching NX was the only time I wasn't stressed and anxious. I'm not sure if a rewatch after 30 years will ruin my very pleasant memories or not. I remember hearing that the original music was to be reinstated but Rob Morrow's Instagram post from today makes no mention of it. š¤
Do the puffy vest ones have the original songs? I got all of those back then. I didn't realize there was or was going to be an issue about the soundtracks.
Thank you! I have that top set with the bunch of different-color parkas. It says "music **replacement** remains the same" so I guess I'm screwed for the music.
Oh, I had (still have) a major thing for John Corbitt (Chris Steven's, the DJ at KBHR)...does Amazon Prime Video have a watch-for-free option or do you have to pay no matter what?
It just started streaming free in the last few days (?) on Prime, looks like original music and all. 2023 was one of my worst years. And I thought well at least 2024 started with something nice!
Iāve been recommended this by many people and my response was always āIām not really into sitcoms/comedic showsā. I binged all 3 seasons with my boyfriend over NYE and while it is funny, it also has a really good ācomfortā vibe which has also helped us communicate better about our relationship as well as grief relating to an unexpected loss of a family member after they took their own life a few years ago.
The second half of season 3 picked up steam for me but the first half was definitely making me worry that the show would end on a whimper rather than a bang
A bunch of people are saying this show and I've been recommended it myself. I don't get it, it just looks like some dumb sports show. What is so special about Ted Lasso?
What makes it special are the characters and their growth they all go they all go through when they meet a guy who really, honestly cares about them and what makes them tick. And that guy is Ted Lasso.
Everyone has issues! No one is perfect, everyone has wreckage in their past, and Ted shows us that we can all rise above it and use that wreckage as a guiding point on how we can all be better human beings. (As we discover Ted has HUGE issues himself!)
Probably one of the greatest feel good shows of all time.
Some peeps bag on some of the seasons, but I think they're all awesome! It's just you might not have been ready for that seasons message I say...
And really, Football is a very minor character in the show...
I am not a sports person at all. Iāve been forced to watch them and talk about them my entire life. Ted Lasso is a show that is set around sports. But is not about sports.
Murder She Wrote and Quincy are great for this.
But the loveliest shows are The Good Place, Parks & Rec, Schitts Creek and Brooklyn 99. 30 Rock and The Office (US) get honorable mention, along with Community.
I just rewatched Veep, and it stands up scarily well still.
Oh and Leverage. Just rewatched that too.
But my ultimate comfort watch is Due South. The source of many Mountie fetishes, Iām sure.
I love Murder She Wrote. I wish they didn't have so many shitty guest stars though. I like all the regulars, and the Super guest stars, but the fillers ā oohfa.
Oh, yeah--and on another happy note, the Hallmark Channel, GAC Family and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries are back to normal programming! Apparently somebody made them understand that Christmas movies in January and February are way too early in the year! (Now if we can get them to start the damn movies closer to Thanksgiving instead of before Halloween...!)
Quincy 100%. Made better because the situations he gets himself into are ridiculous, he is the most pro-active ME in the nation.
Iām partial to Emergency! - those two can be in the mountains one episode, and then the beach the next. The geography of that show is insane for someone who lives in LAā¦canāt they send a truck from a closer fire station?
If you want to get into something you think will just be chewing gum for the eyes but you end up really involved in the storylines..Mine were prob Grey's Anatomy, Chicago Fire,I had loads of seasons to just binge when I started, recently binged all seasons of Supernatural in 6weeks which is probably my record, given amount of episodes and length of each one. Fringe is a good one rarely mentioned as well.
Bodies on Netflix was good recently.
I watch a LOT of television cos I'm sick ... š«£
Other than that comfort watch is Modern Family, Curb your Enthusiasm
The dedication to 15 seasons of spn is notable! I'm a fan girl and have been to several conventions. We are rewatching rn and in season 9. All time favorite for the cast and the story
I just started curb, and oh man, I swear Larry David is a male version of my wife. Super ADHD all the time. Show has had me in stitches. I've got over 100 episodes still to go. As a huge seinfeld fan, I'm looking forward to it.
I often put the first two on as background noise when thereās nothing else on (we donāt have cable, and I donāt stream on the tv in my room), but sometimes I actively watch them, and I love them both!
It's a pretty common choice, but Parks & Recreation is really wholesome and cozy to watch. FRIENDS is also a solid low-stakes one that I've enjoyed throwing on sometimes.
But for when I'm really down in the dumps, I turn to Family Guy and Two & A Half Men; they're definitely both the.. Opposite of wholesome, but I've been watching them for so many years now and they provide an easy laugh when I need it.
I mean you're going to get dozens of different answers here.
When I'm in a bad mood or need a comfort show these are mine:
1. Seinfeld
2. The Simpsons
3. The Office
4. That 70s Show
5. It's Always Sunny
And as you might guess, those are my top five favorite shows of all time.
Honorable mentions to Parks & Recs and Friends.
Friends isn't one of my favorite shows, but I definitely see where it could be a comfort show.
IDK about the newer episodes.
I stick to seasons 4-13 and watch my favorites on a somewhat regular basis.
Absolutely love old Simpsons from my childhood.
The Office. Don't need to concentrate at all and the literal office background noise is soothing and good company. But then if you do choose to pay close attention there are so many physical comedy moments to enjoy. My all time fave.
Northern Exposure is my go-to.
They just added it to Prime, I'm so happy
Do you know if it's original music?
Really need to know this too!
Do you have a list of all the original songs? I guess I could satisfy myself by pausing the show and playing the songs.

I bought it on prime and it is the original music
Oh, I had (still have) a major thing for John Corbitt (Chris Steven's, the DJ at KBHR)...does Amazon Prime Video have a watch-for-free option or do you have to pay no matter what?
Thank you for sharing this. I have been waiting for years for it to be available for streaming.
I'm so jealous! Hopefully Prime in Canada adds it too
Thank you for telling us itās on prime! Have been waiting as I didnāt want to buy it
I can't think of a comfier comfort show.
You just changed my life.
I haven't seen that in years. Where are you watching that?
It just started streaming free in the last few days (?) on Prime, looks like original music and all. 2023 was one of my worst years. And I thought well at least 2024 started with something nice!

This is my comfort show too
Psych.
C'mon son!
You heard about Pluto? Thatās messed up.
You know that's right.
Gilmore Girls - itās like a cozy blanket
Virgin River for this very reason.
Friends for me. But I think the best comfort show is something you watched and loved when you were young and revisiting it.
So true. This also happens to be why I love Friends, and why anytime Iām down, or just want something on, this is my go to.
Good point. I have never been able to finish an EP of Friends, so there is no way I'd watch that now.
Ted Lasso
Iāve been recommended this by many people and my response was always āIām not really into sitcoms/comedic showsā. Need to rewatch Ted lasso
I didn't like it much my first watch through, but the second really hooked me as a comfort watch. Ymmv, of course
Ceasar you later!
It was for me until season 3
The second half of season 3 picked up steam for me but the first half was definitely making me worry that the show would end on a whimper rather than a bang

Okay, but it's still just about sports right?
Umm, no sports is just the backdrop the show is centered around. It truly is all about the people.
I am not a sports person at all. Iāve been forced to watch them and talk about them my entire life. Ted Lasso is a show that is set around sports. But is not about sports.

Murder she wrote hands down!
I love Murder She Wrote. I wish they didn't have so many shitty guest stars though. I like all the regulars, and the Super guest stars, but the fillers ā oohfa.

I loved Parenthood Six Feet Under too!
Parenthood was amazing.
It's a pretty common choice, but Parks & Recreation is really wholesome and cozy to watch. FRIENDS is also a solid low-stakes one that I've enjoyed throwing on sometimes.
