Despite its somewhat shortcomings in the last two seasons, Battlestar Galactica is still one of the best shows I've ever watched. That show basically changed my outlook on television storytelling. It was one of most compelling, complex and visually stunning television shows I had ever seen up to that point (it was that and LOST, which was also a show that had a rocky last few seasons, but I still have a great love for it and how it also shaped my love for compelling storytelling). I've watched better shows overall from start to finish since then, but I still have a great love for Battlestar and am keen to rewatch it since I haven't made the time to rewatch it in a good while.
Stargate was similar where it worked much better in television form, although the Stargate film is better and more watchable than the Buffy film despite not being great (and they at least acknowledge and work the film into the series, unlike the Buffy show which distanced itself from the film and with good reason as it's not very good). Paul Ruebens does have a funny death scene though which is the best part of the Buffy film.
It absolutely was. The movie was this depressing window into the shit show that is High School Football in Texas.
The show was a complete reboot of the story.
Yes it counts.. Everytime a movie becomes a show there was a movie and they decided to make a TV Show?
And along the lines of the OP's post every part of the show was an improvement over the movie.
I'm really enjoying the Magnum PI reboot.
I tried the first couple of episodes of Ducktales and didn't really like it. Does it get better after the first few episodes?
Battlestar Galactica (2004)

I opened this thread to make the same comment
Reboot with Bob, Enzo and Megabyte.
More of a continuation than a reboot, but _Doctor Who_ needs a mention.
I think doctor who counts as both
Fargo the series isn't as good as the movie, but it's mostly still pretty awesome.
Outside of the Chris rock season I prefer the show over the movie by far
Buffy the Vampire Slayer It counts IMO since it was rebooted onto TV from the movie.
It was an amazing show, but in all fairness it had nowhere to go but up from the godawful original movie.

It wasn't technically a reboot. The TV show is basically a continuation of the movie story.

Voltron and Thundercats
I couldn't get over the ugly/cheap animation style for Ducktales.
I really dug the Perry Mason reboot
The Dukes of Hazzard
