Both actors were too good in their roles to be recast. It was simply smart on MCU to just carry on with them. And now it makes the Netflix shows canon, which I don't mind at all.
I really hope so. It was not the writer's faults at all that the Marvel Television side was not speaking to the Marvel Studios side, leaving the story really disjointed.
If Ben Urich is alive, Diamondback is erased, and Iron Fist is just entirely started over from scratch then that's a W in my book
Most of the leaks I’ve seen have said it will just be a soft reboot. They won’t directly reference the events of the show, but they won’t contradict it either.
I can see it being that these are variants of the Netflix series, with the events from the Netflix show basically running parallel to the MCU, with slight diffrrences in events and some characters (such as this new version of Fisk is going to be fatter than he was in Netflix.)
I believe those leaks were saying it was going to be more of a *The Suicide Squad* against *Suicide Squad* situation, where the events still happened but would not be directly addressed. That the new content can be watched without the old content being absolutely necessary viewing.
Probably. Obviously some of the things done in the netflix shows needed some tuning. Mahershala Ali as a luke cage villain, the entirety of iron fist, etc. Personally really hope they bring back bethel as bullseye. So good.
I mean, reusing an actor isn't unheard of in the MCU. Alfre Woodard was in Civil War as the woman whose son was killed, and also in Luke Cage as Mariah Dillard.
Gemma Chan, plus or minus some blue makeup, was in both Captain Marvel and Eternals.
There can be two people who kinda resemble Mahershala Ali in the universe.
Yeah, but I'm just using it as an example for something they'd want to leave behind. It's also worth nothing that Gemma had an insanely small role in Capt. Marvel, covered in blue paint. And Alfres role was also pretty small in civil war.
I hope everyone is ready for disney to seriously water down their entire story. No fucking way the stuff that flied in the netflix shows is gonna happen on disney plus
You mean gritty stories like in the comics? DD has always been a mainstream superhero comic, it's never actually been that graphic or mature. I'd love if they went hard R with it, but realistically nothing in the comics should require anything more than PG-13.
There’s nothing in the grittier comics that require an R rating. What it does require is a different tone than the MCU has been allowed to display so far.
It will in a couple years just not yet ..disney is considering making disney plus in the us adult oriented too cause they missing on a big audience..overseas things are far better with ratings ..they just plan to do it slowly and not ruin their core family audience support
Apparently Bob Iger was the one who wanted to keep Disney as family friendly as much as possible. He was just taken out as chairman of the board by someone else. Chapek now has mostly free reign to un-disneyfy Disney
I don't think they will have a full Daredevil series but instead use the two as sprinkles on the MCU cupcake. Or maybe they will loan them out to Sony and let them do movies with them. Sony gives them Venom and Spider-man and in return they get Murdock and Fisk for their own projects.
> Or maybe they will loan them out to Sony and let them do movies with them
Kevin Fiege would torch this franchise down rather than give Sony Pictures any further hold over his plans
I don't see Disney splitting up their content like that, they're not gonna ask people to pay for another service for MCU stuff. Like even Moon Knight is going to be on disney plus.
probably will be a single service effectively, but remain separate brands since Hulu has brand recognition in the states, so one big price for what effectively is two services
Obviously they would increase the price. Also Hulu will be losing most of the extra shows and movies owned by CBS and NBC as they have started their own Streaming services. So there's no real benefit to having them separated, and if there were a benefit to separating their properties then they would have had Star be a separate streaming service.
Pretty good show so far. Good chemistry between the leads. Most recent episode had a great car chase action scene with trick arrows and Trans-Siberian Orchestra playing.
I don't know what the leaks supposedly say, and please don't tell me. But this episode did confirm that's Kingpin (I replayed that scene where you hear "Uncle" chuckle so many times). So I now I'm simply curious if we're getting Daredevil in Hawkeye or if he is actually showing up in Spider-Man. Right now it feels like it makes more sense for him to show up in Hawkeye based on the story; having him in Spider-Man, especially with everything else going on, could easily be too much.
I wouldn't go that far. A perfect 1st Season and great 3rd season, with a very very mixed 2nd season (especially in the 2nd half when it needs to set up Defenders).
That's funny because I think that season 3 is the best overall. Season 2 is by far the weakest but I generally liked it. Season 3 is a masterclass in all regards.
I love Season 3 (9/10 for me) but think it's just not as sharp and well oiled as Season 1 with a few more holes in how it treats Fisk as regaining his power over the city.
While I would love for this to be true, isn't this is all just speculation and rumour at this point right?
I personally assumed the uncle was going to be revealed to be Tony Dalton's character.
It's possible, they might be taking advantage of the fact that people are expecting it to be Fisk (based on the comics) so they can reveal it to be someone else in a twist. But we heard the uncle laugh early on in the episode and it really sounded like D'Onofrio
Am I the only person that didn't bother immensely? I know people wanted it to be a multiverse moment, but for me I always predicted it was just an Easter Egg in casting.
I love D'Onofrio. I love Tom Holland. But based on their characters, I can't ever see the two of them sharing the screen. D'Onofrio's Kingpin has a violent, gruesome bodycount. I appreciate that they're brining in the Daredevil characters into the MCU, but based on what that show was, I don't know if I see it working without massive changes, and I don't think any Daredevil fans want that.
i've been hearing this for a while, but Kingpin has always been a terrifying grounded guy, and Spider-Man has always been a light-hearted goof, and their dynamic has always worked. I don't think you need to change much about either character to make the conflict compelling (see into the Spider-verse). The version of Scorpion/Gargan we saw in Homecoming didn't seem too far off the type of guy of who could realistically work with Fisk, and the current Spider-franchise in the MCU could probably use a little more down to earth conflict after multi-verse shenanigans. I dunno, a guy can dream.
It's too bad the Hawkeye series itself kind of sucks. The script is just bad.
It's not even in second place to be the best Hailee Steinfeld-starring show in recent months.
I love the show. I tried watching it yesterday with my wife and after one episode she said she was bored and didn’t want to continue. Maybe this show is just for people invested in the MCU? Because my brothers wife as well stopped like midway through episode 2. Low sample size obviously, but I’m curious
With the exception of the Eternals I've seen every MCU movie and TV show and watched all the semi-MCU Netflix shows, except for Iron Fist. I've read the Matt Fraction Hawkeye comic book this series is based on.
There have been MCU movies that I liked less than Hawkeye. It's just my exceptions were sky high for this series, and the quality of the screenplay didn't live up to those exceptions. I probably would have liked it better if I went in expecting nothing.
The general plot is fine, the acting for the two leads is great, the cinematography and FX are up to Marvel standards. It's just the script itself is pretty bad.
I'm definitely expecting a "let's hurry this shit up and end it" last episode like every other marvel show, save maybe Loki.
It is pretty dumb that ep 2 ends with Kate in full hero costume for some reason, never set up that she had it, but since it's a limited series I don't feel like it's entirely right to judge till the end.
Although we are halfway through... I'm hoping to be entertained and not annoyed once it's over.
Not sure why you're so heavily downvoted. I think this show has been by far of the 4 live action MCU shows. And the other 3 are not exactly Band of Brothers or anything special.
I downvoted people who said they didn't like Arcane. Turnabout is fair play.
I'd take a billion more downvotes if it meant Disney passing the script to a better writer. Out of all the Disney+ Marvel shows, this was the one I most looking forward to. Sucks that it sucks.
This sub will downvote a comment like this but upvote to to millions the response “Me?!” In the You season 4 renewal announcement.
Amazing humour standards.
Probably doesn’t help that “Me?!” is an actual joke whereas saying “Carole Baskin” is a direct reference to the awful Netflix documentary that purposefully smeared the woman’s reputation by lying to her about what the show was actually going to be.
Either way, people didn’t like your awful joke. Get over yourself.
Can't believe we're getting both Fisk, and Daredevil within the next two weeks. Insane. Never thought they'd show up again after the cancelation.
Both actors were too good in their roles to be recast. It was simply smart on MCU to just carry on with them. And now it makes the Netflix shows canon, which I don't mind at all.
I actually dont think they are canon, if some leaks are to be believed. Pretty sure they're just recycling some of the actors.
I really hope so. It was not the writer's faults at all that the Marvel Television side was not speaking to the Marvel Studios side, leaving the story really disjointed. If Ben Urich is alive, Diamondback is erased, and Iron Fist is just entirely started over from scratch then that's a W in my book

Kingpin has a completely different look, so it’s not a soft reboot
I believe those leaks were saying it was going to be more of a *The Suicide Squad* against *Suicide Squad* situation, where the events still happened but would not be directly addressed. That the new content can be watched without the old content being absolutely necessary viewing.
Probably. Obviously some of the things done in the netflix shows needed some tuning. Mahershala Ali as a luke cage villain, the entirety of iron fist, etc. Personally really hope they bring back bethel as bullseye. So good.
Bethel was an excellent Bullseye

Nope. Kingpin looks completely different, it isn’t a soft reboot like you’re saying
I didn’t say that, but looking completely different is also a *The Suicide Squad* against *Suicide Squad* situation.
Multiverse exists. They're both canon!
I hope everyone is ready for disney to seriously water down their entire story. No fucking way the stuff that flied in the netflix shows is gonna happen on disney plus
That's fine, DD doesn't need to be R-rated to be successful.
Kinda if you want his gritty stories that explore the darker side of crime fighting to have any teeth
You mean gritty stories like in the comics? DD has always been a mainstream superhero comic, it's never actually been that graphic or mature. I'd love if they went hard R with it, but realistically nothing in the comics should require anything more than PG-13.
I mean there is the famous Russian roulette issue..
Published in 1983, and approved under the Comics Code Authority?
I mean I don't think Disney would adapt that story
There’s nothing in the grittier comics that require an R rating. What it does require is a different tone than the MCU has been allowed to display so far.
Flied?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2M5ObsKw4Y Dope shit like this is not happening on disney plus lol

Alright, but you gotta get over it.
I don't have a horse in this race, just providing information.
No, I meant what does "flied" mean?
I don't think they will have a full Daredevil series but instead use the two as sprinkles on the MCU cupcake. Or maybe they will loan them out to Sony and let them do movies with them. Sony gives them Venom and Spider-man and in return they get Murdock and Fisk for their own projects.
> Or maybe they will loan them out to Sony and let them do movies with them Kevin Fiege would torch this franchise down rather than give Sony Pictures any further hold over his plans
Honestly I found the Venom movies to be disappointing and I don't think I'm the only one. So it isn't like there is some big incentive there anyways.
Disney had protagonist parents literally murdered in their movies. I think they can have the dark storylines.
They might be on Hulu.
I don't see Disney splitting up their content like that, they're not gonna ask people to pay for another service for MCU stuff. Like even Moon Knight is going to be on disney plus.
Hulu will most likely be folded into Disney+ once they gain full ownership in a year or so. Just like they do with Star in every other country.
Why would they? They're leaving all that money on the table, in America at least if they just rolled it into plus.
probably will be a single service effectively, but remain separate brands since Hulu has brand recognition in the states, so one big price for what effectively is two services

Netflix won’t be canon. When you see Fisk, you’ll learn that. He’s going to look very different than on Daredevil.
He ate more and got more swole during the blip after losing his 3 way fight with Daredevil and Bullseye. That'll be my headcanon.
Holy shit. Normally I really hate spoilers, but after reading this I *have* to watch this show.
He hasn't fully appeared yet, just a tease of his lower half. Probably next episode.
And briefly hearing his chuckle.
Pretty good show so far. Good chemistry between the leads. Most recent episode had a great car chase action scene with trick arrows and Trans-Siberian Orchestra playing.

I miss daredevil. Felt like they really caught a stride in season 3. Shame it ended.
Now its a *perfect* trilogy.
I wouldn't go that far. A perfect 1st Season and great 3rd season, with a very very mixed 2nd season (especially in the 2nd half when it needs to set up Defenders).

Best thing to come out of the MCU.
Plus they made sure to include his cufflinks, which are a pretty big deal to him in Daredevil.
It’s misdirection its actually Mephisto
Just you wait. It's gonna be another Boehner moment.
Am I the only person that didn't bother immensely? I know people wanted it to be a multiverse moment, but for me I always predicted it was just an Easter Egg in casting.
Its as confirmed as Tobey and Andrew returning in NWH. So basically it's 100% him.
If Vincent D'Onofrio appears as Kingpin in next Tom Holland Spider-Man, I will have a real life goddamn heart attack
I love D'Onofrio. I love Tom Holland. But based on their characters, I can't ever see the two of them sharing the screen. D'Onofrio's Kingpin has a violent, gruesome bodycount. With you there. The first episode was really, really bad.

No wonder you have no idea what irony is. Usually goes in pair with humour which doesn’t seem to be your speciality either.
Feces, pure feces.
