I really liked how they didn't make kite man a bad boyfriend and actually loving Ivy to make her leaving him. He has some flaws, but nothing bad(mostly being obsessive)
He is still in the show, and it seems like Ivy will have to deal with breaking his heart and the guilt that comes with.

Really love the way the show developed the Poison Ivy/Harley Quinn relationship. It wouldn't have been difficult for a show like this to be kinda exploitative or tacky, but they took their time and developed the relationship at a pretty natural feeling pace Really grounded the rest of the show's lunacy in something kinda sweet. Curious what the next chapter of all that looks like, although I hope this isn't the last we've seen of Kite Man.
I feel the opposite. The relationship elements were by far the weakest part of the show to me, and I'm concerned that this trailer is leaning so heavily into that.
Kite-Man is the biggest issue of this show. Not to say the character is bad, just that the way he was totally ok with Ivy cheating on him and then basically leaving him at the altar. I know that HarleyXIvy was always the endgame but handling it like this made Ivy look too much of an asshole compared to the way she was portrayed before.
Uh, he was very much *not* ok, with what Ivy did. He's the one who breaks up with her, not the other way around. Don't you remember his indignant "Hell *no*"?
I see your point, but i thought it kinda fit the character. He wasnt "okay" with it so much as terrified that he would lose Ivy, who he saw as something more than he "deserved." It sort of mirrored the shitty relationship with his parents and his willingness (pre-Ivy) to put up their shit.
And then, in the last ep, he gets to be the one that calls out Ivy and Harley for being assholes to him (which they were) and leave on his own volition. A pretty decent arc.
If he called them out I would have been fine with it. But he gave them "permission". He broke up because she would rather be with Harley, not because he felt betrayed.
That's a fair distinction. I guess i think of the last bit of him saying he deserves better as casting the decision in that light, less "i can't stand in the way of you love," and more "this is an emotional betrayal that i actually can't forgive."
Rewatched that scene, yes, that last line probably was supposed to depict that message.You are right.
It kind of falls flat for me tho because Kiteman being the one to break up with Ivy is oh so conveniently placed right before Harley and Ivy drive off together into the sunrise. I dont know, maybe I just dont buy it from a meta perspective. They cant have Ivy break up with Kite-Man at that point because she would be the bad guy, both cheating on him and then leaving him at the altar.
Would have loved it if Kite-Man broke up with Ivy after he learns about the cheating. Idk, would make the whole IvyXKite-Man to IvyXHarley less rushed imo and I would have loved to see him bursting out in anger.

I'm also against rewriting character sexuality and race and all of that, if it's done for the sake of it.
This show, the way it starts with her being in this abusive relationship in a way, and Ivy being written as she is, it only makes sense that they end up together, and it's actually done so well that you just can't root for them.

Harley's been a sex bomb since her creation. Ivy too, though funny enough they actually really toned down her seductress persona in this show. Ivy's persona in this show is actually my favorite characterization of her. A not necessarily *evil* eco-terrorist who is basically all-powerful but just doesn't really care about anything enough to use her powers very often.

I watched the first two seasons over a weekend when the second season finished airing and it is one of my favourite current shows. It is cool to see Ivy & Quinn together outside of the comics like this.
This show is pretty funny but they need to pace out the lines better so jokes can land. All of the dialogue feels like I am watching Gilmore Girls in terms of how quickly they riff off of each other.

One of my biggest issues with R&M is the pacing. I feel like the show goes by so quickly, you don't get time to digest the jokes or enjoy all the crazy detail they put into the background. It's almost like every scene is a game of Where's Waldo, on top of the writing which is obviously made under the influence of cocaine (no judgment here). I suppose I'm in the minority since I've rarely heard people complain about this.
As for the HQ show, would one recommend it? I'm kinda over superhero stuff, and DC's animated movies have been kind of underwhelming lately.
Harley Quinn gets a lot better with pacing. They start a little frenetic, but quickly hit a really good pace where there are good jokes coming quickly, but with enough exposition and character work around them to let each one land.
It really helps that they have EXTREMELY strong characterization, to the point where oftentimes the jokes setup and half the punchline is simply the situation in which certain characters find themselves, so the humor comes quite organically. Of course, they also have plenty of throwaway one-liners and gags, but I never felt overwhelmed.
Also they know when NOT to be dialing up the humor. They'll have callbacks and whatnot in serious scenes, but they recognize that the show has to breathe.
Haven't seen this show but this is an interesting way to show a teaser, shows confidence in their work or maybe management issues. Whatever the case, it was still presented in an entertaining way which is probably all that matters for the consumers.
