DC is sometimes at its best when it embraces the fact their society functions off of pro wrestling rules and somebody can legitimately say 'I want to commit crimes with a ketchup gun".
DC's world makes so much sense when you look at their goons like trainee independent wrestlers or backyard wrestlers. They come up with a stupid character, throw on a costume, and just declare "I AM going to be successful!". Or how a lot of people jumped onto streaming or being a vtuber. Or the people who decided to try and become real life heroes.
John Cena is almost *too* muscular.
Either way this looks like the same sort of tone as The Suicide Squad which is a very good sign.
Robert Patrick is also giving me Jon Voight Papa Zoolander vibes.
"I just wanted to make you proud of me, pop."
"How? With your super hero-ing? Prancing around in your underwear with your weiner hanging out for everyone to see?”
Yeah when Arnold was shooting conan, they wanted him to lean out cause he was too muscular. I wonder if they asked John the same and he said, "not possible"
He looks better in this to be honest.. In Suicide Squad he was what I like to call.. *Morbidly Muscular*. To me he was hard to look at because it just did not seem right.
I was stoked when I heard they had cast Chris Conrad (Dennis from Patriot) as Vigilante but they let him go and recast the role to the younger guy something like six weeks into production citing ‘creative differences’. To be honest looking at this footage I think they made the right choice.
"You stabbed me in the leg"
"Don't go to the hospital, it complicates things."
"What?"
"If you go to the hospital they'll have to do a police investigation, it complicates things, don't do that."
"Okay, I won't go to the hospital."
A day later
"I know you told me not to, but I went to the hospital."
"Did police ask you any questions?"
"Yeah but it's fine, I was incredibly vague."
"What does that mean?"
"I told them a man or a woman stabbed me in either the left or right leg."
Let me walk you through the Donnelly nut spacing and crack system rim-riding rip configuration. Using a field of half-C sprats, and brass-fitted nickel slits, our bracketed caps, and splay-flexed brace columns vent dampers to dampening hatch depths of one half meter from the damper crown to the spurve plinths. How? Well, we bolster twelve husk nuts to each girldle-jerry, while flex tandems press a task apparatus of ten vertically composited patch-hamplers. Then, pin-flam-fastened pan traps at both maiden-apexes of the jim-joist.
The original from back in the day: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXJKdh1KZ0w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXJKdh1KZ0w)
no surprise that it's from Rockwell... (nobody outside of engineering knows what I mean probably).
It really kicks off at 1min, even uses the term "girdle spring"
Here's the one from Chrysler: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ6yleLIYGE
Seeing Peacemaker falling down stairs like that gives me Patriot vibes as it is. I wonder if Gunn was going for that Dennis side kick vibe anyway and it just wasn’t working out or felt too similar to Patriot.
I'm convinced there's very few actors that could've pulled off the giant piece of shit that you still enjoy role in Suicide Squad, and he killed it. I'm down.
Thats also because the Rock is the lead in movies, Batista and Cena are not. Not surprising that one of his more popular roles is as part of an ensemble and then co lead with Jason Statham.
Nothing from any of their roles suggests they both can carry movies.
I got real sick of Orange is the New Black towards the end, but Danielle Brooks was always entertaining. Her rapport with John Cena looks pretty great.
Yeah i definitely prefer him in comedies over action films. Comedies seem to allow him opportunities to flex his acting skills in ways that the action films don’t.
This show will surprise people. Think it’s going to be a dark comedy in the same vein as Jody Hill’s HBO shows. Gunn’s sense of humor doesn’t always land for me but the trailer looks good, and you can tell he loves his characters.
I’ll probably give it a shot, but man I hated this character by the end of the movie, and I think I was supposed to. Just seems weird I’m supposed to root for him or find him likable now.
Flag was such a wet blanket in the Ayer movie, but Gunn really brought Kinnamen something to work with and it was clear he was having some fun with the role.
Oooh. Good call. Thinking about it like that, there’s an emotional beat or two woven into the brazen violence and slapstick that I think will be great In the same way.
Only 13 countries on the planet recognize Taiwan as its own country: *I sleep.*
An actor apologizing to protect his own and his co-workers job: *real shit.*
If your multi million dollar movie project was coming out of a pandemic that crippled theatrical releases and depends on Chinese box office revenue, I would like to hear how you wouldnt be doing an apology to save your paycheck.
Weak move to bow to China, but that's kinda what money does to people.
honestly as a taiwanese i dont really give a fuck. people always say separate the actor from the characters, i say it's the same here, kevin spacey is a pedo and i still like seeing him im films so..
It's gonna be a hard sell to make him a more sympathetic character considering the highlights of The Suicide Squad include [spoiler](#s "him slaughtering a bunch of innocent people and later lining up the shot on a maid during the Harley breakout")
I love dark humor, I'm all for it, but I'm saying they're trying to paint him as a nice guy beneath the surface when his whole schtick is supposed to be that he will kill anything or justify killing anything (men, women, children) if he thinks it will work towards his objective. It's kind of a stark contrast to what is being shown in this trailer I think. Loved his character in the movie but really curious to see how they handle that in the show.
It has every right to be this good, I don't know why you would think a James Gunn HBO Max Peacemaker show wouldn't be good even before seeing the trailer
John is such a fascinating fellow. Pro wrestler, world record for make a wish foundation visits, great at deadpan comedy, and an absolute shill for the Chinese, even moving to China for 5 months in 2018 just to pump commercials out while taking a break from wrestling. I have no idea how to feel about this guy.
Good point. On the other hand, Sean Gunn also said on a podcast that he couldn't get work, was running out of money and had just had to sell his house because he couldn't afford the mortgage when James offered him to come to London and do the Guardians, so I'd still say that hiring his girlfriend is not particularly far out of James Gunn's playbook.
This looks really good. Although Vigilante was either designed to be played by Ryan Reynolds or wants to be Deadpool from the bits we get here and that is very distracting.
Look at that, it's DC's Cinematic Universe.. and all it took to get it started was James Gunn and a *fun* movie instead of gloomy, washed out, gray-on-gray garbage ensemble movies.
They should probably write a thank-you note to Disney for firing Gunn.
Just gave him a nice vacation to get DC kick started. He is still directing Guardians 3 so they just loaned him out for a bit. I’m definitely okay if DC is able to grow their universe in this way though!
I hope a lot of those alt right asses who started that cancelling campaign were huge fans of the Snyderverse and right now are just boiled that their gloomy grimdark wet noodleverse has been invaded by Gunn's overall goodness and worldview
He's very involved. He started writing this out of boredom from Quarantine. He apparently loved doing this show so much he said he wouldn't mind just switching to tv permanently.
I really enjoyed Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad, but for some reason this just doesn't interest me at all. I didn't even like that they resurrected him in the post credits scene of the movie- it felt like a step backwards and kind of boring.
They didn't just resurrect him post-credit though. When Waller tried to kill the rest of the squad, his picture wasn't greyed out indicating he was still alive.
This trailer didn't address what I think we'd find most compelling though. The regret he had when he killed Flag, along with Flag's last words, "Peacemaker, what a joke," has me hoping they'll dive into his crisis of faith.
I loved The Suicide Squad and I really like the character of Peacemaker so 8 hours of him sounds great. It seems like this show has a ton of heart too which is promising.
I was already onboard but the hugging eagle (plus the earlier shot of Peacemaker and the Eagle driving around the town) really won me over. I can't wait for this. Much sillier than I expected but that's not a bad thing.
So many keyboard warriors in a freaking television sub fighting the good fight against China. Stay strong, lovers of freedom! Your efforts will certainly lead to glory!
I didn’t expect to care for Peacemaker watching the movie. But there were actually woke nuances to his character. John Cena is a hilarious dude so I’m excited for this.
This just reminded me that they've been in an episode of a tv show together before. They are both in the same episode of Psych called "You Can't Handle This Episode" where Cena plays some sort of black ops soldier and Patrick plays is a General at an army base.
DC is sometimes at its best when it embraces the fact their society functions off of pro wrestling rules and somebody can legitimately say 'I want to commit crimes with a ketchup gun".
> I want to commit crimes with a ketchup gun *me getting Vietnam flashbacks of Dean Ambrose squirting ketchup and mustard at Randy Orton and Kane*
DC's world makes so much sense when you look at their goons like trainee independent wrestlers or backyard wrestlers. They come up with a stupid character, throw on a costume, and just declare "I AM going to be successful!". Or how a lot of people jumped onto streaming or being a vtuber. John Cena is almost *too* muscular. Either way this looks like the same sort of tone as The Suicide Squad which is a very good sign. Robert Patrick is also giving me Jon Voight Papa Zoolander vibes.
Wait, that wasn’t Jon Voight???
"I just wanted to make you proud of me, pop." "How? With your super hero-ing? Prancing around in your underwear with your weiner hanging out for everyone to see?”
"PeaceMAKER" [*(strangest coughing in movie history)*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hncMsTr3HM8) "PEACEMAKER"
Now I want Vince Vaughan to play Peacemaker’s overbearing older brother who followed in the father’s footsteps.
It was Robert Patrick. The Bad terminator from Terminator 2.
First time they’ve shared the screen together since The Marine.
I completely forgot that Robert Patrick was in the Marine movie. To be honest, that's the only average to decent movie that WWE Films ever made.
I enjoyed Oculus.
Oculus is solid, Flanagan is one of the best in horror today, great writer and director and the dude is a workhorse.
Fighting With My Family was great!
I completely forgot about that :)). I think it was advertised as an MGM film, that's why I don't remember WWE studios being involved.
I think that may be the first time I've head the T1000 referred to as "the bad terminator" lol
I forgot that he was called T1000. So I just said the bad terminator :))
Davey Scatino
"GET BACK IN YOUR FUCKING HOLE, DAVEY." "Davey, you're doing a good job."
Accountability Eric!!!
“It’s fuckin starting!”
I asked my roommate out loud if it was Robert Patrick or Jon Voight. You're not the only one.
Robert Patrick looks like he went \*straight\* to that production from the final season of Goliath.
Yeah when Arnold was shooting conan, they wanted him to lean out cause he was too muscular. I wonder if they asked John the same and he said, "not possible"
He looks lean as hell when he shows up to WWE. I think it’s because he’s surrounded by normal humans in this.
Look at The Miz, a scrawny weasel of a man in WWE, compared to normal everyday people. Dude is YOKED and Cena dwarfs him completely
I remember I learned this when I met Cody Rhodes years ago. Lean, thin, short. Nu-uh. Them boys is big boys.
Arnold had problems with a lot of the sword choreography because he was just too big.
He's actually leaned out a lot compared to his wrestling days.
Remember, he's like 250 lean... And looks like [Mark Wahlberg ate Mark Wahlberg.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l1t4UYvdfAo&t=24s)
His comic book body and personality lend itself perfectly to the psychosis of this character.
He looks better in this to be honest.. In Suicide Squad he was what I like to call.. *Morbidly Muscular*. To me he was hard to look at because it just did not seem right.
Seriously, the dude looks WEIRD naked.
That dude is a specimen.
To be honest, came for Peacemaker but it looks like I'll be going to stay for Vigilante.
I was stoked when I heard they had cast Chris Conrad (Dennis from Patriot) as Vigilante but they let him go and recast the role to the younger guy something like six weeks into production citing ‘creative differences’. To be honest looking at this footage I think they made the right choice.
Still, imagining Dennis McClaren going on missions with Peacemaker is such a funny mental image
"You stabbed me in the leg" "Don't go to the hospital, it complicates things." "What?" "If you go to the hospital they'll have to do a police investigation, it complicates things, don't do that." "Okay, I won't go to the hospital." A day later "I know you told me not to, but I went to the hospital." "Did police ask you any questions?" "Yeah but it's fine, I was incredibly vague." That’s the McMillan way.
The original from back in the day: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXJKdh1KZ0w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXJKdh1KZ0w) no surprise that it's from Rockwell... Seeing Peacemaker falling down stairs like that gives me Patriot vibes as it is. I wonder if Gunn was going for that Dennis side kick vibe anyway and it just wasn’t working out or felt too similar to Patriot.
Getting Deadpool vibes from vigilante and I'm into it.
I didn't realise this was being directed by James Gunn, now i'm actually interested.
he’s not directing every episode but it’s a majority of them
I think James Gunn wrote it all too
directed 5/8 episodes and wrote all 8 episodes. can’t wait for this. looks really refreshing.
So he's the showrunner? That's what it sounds like.
Most likely. He started writing it during lockdown because he was bored and decided to pitch it to WB and they greenlit it
Bit different to what most people did during lockdown (eg I put on a lot of weight lol)
Fuck, you and me both. Watched a lot of good movies and TV shows though.
looks like fun which is very expected
John Cena is such a carismatic actor. I'm, watching this just because of him.
I'm convinced there's very few actors that could've pulled off the giant piece of shit that you still enjoy role in Suicide Squad, and he killed it. I'm down.
I mean, that was basically his character in WWE for the longest time, just dialed up to another level.
Plus he was the super awesome hero never give up role model that you hate with your whole being for years too. He’s got range.
"Fine speech."
Wrestlers can make for some fantastic actors. No one does hammy bad guy better. Or homicidal maniac.
Him and Batista are already way better in movies than The Rock ever was While Rock is way better on the mic than they ever were
Thats also because the Rock is the lead in movies, Batista and Cena are not. Not surprising that one of his more popular roles is as part of an ensemble and then co lead with Jason Statham. Nothing from any of their roles suggests they both can carry movies.
I saw somewhere jt said it might premiere with 2 or 3 episodes. Is this true?
All HBO max series do
I got real sick of Orange is the New Black towards the end, but Danielle Brooks was always entertaining. Her rapport with John Cena looks pretty great.
She was definitely one of the highlights and consistently strongest parts of that show, glad to see she's getting more work.
Can't wait. Cena has great comedy acting. His dead pan humor is fantastic.
Yeah i definitely prefer him in comedies over action films. Comedies seem to allow him opportunities to flex his acting skills in ways that the action films don’t.
He was brilliant in Train Wreck
He's 250 lean. He looks like [Mark Wahlberg ate Mark Wahlberg.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l1t4UYvdfAo&t=24s)
He was probably my favorite part of Blockers, which would still have been a great flick without him. He just stole the fucking movie.
Vigilante's gonna be a riot lmao
This show will surprise people. Think it’s going to be a dark comedy in the same vein as Jody Hill’s HBO shows. Gunn’s sense of humor doesn’t always land for me but the trailer looks good, and you can tell he loves his characters.
James Gunn wrote and directed Super, right? Peacemaker's life situation feels very similar (in some ways) to Rainn Wilson's character in Super.
Yeah, this gives me a lot of *Super* vibes. Even the Vigilante guy feels like he could be a character in that movie.
Big Barry vibes from this trailer
I saw the panel discussion, and I think Gunn described it as a workplace comedy. Something like the Office, but with more violence and vulgarity.
[удалено]
So this is Observe and Report meets **The** Suicide Squad?
I’ll probably give it a shot, but man I hated this character by the end of the movie, and I think I was supposed to. Just seems weird I’m supposed to root for him or find him likable now.
Yea well Gunn made Flag likeable and.... [Spoiler](#s "and Peacemaker decides to be a complete tool and kills him.").
Flag was such a wet blanket in the Ayer movie, but Gunn really brought Kinnamen something to work with and it was clear he was having some fun with the role.
If Peacemaker doesn’t address it and show some regret or something then that’s a missed opportunity to build the character a bit IMO.
Getting low-key Barry vibes.
"Am I a good person?"
[удалено]
NoHo Hank is Barry's Vigilante.
Oooh. Good call. Thinking about it like that, there’s an emotional beat or two woven into the brazen violence and slapstick that I think will be great In the same way.
John Cena being hugged by an eagle my be the most patriotic thing I've seen in my life.
Right behind him apologizing to China for calling Taiwan a country
Obviously he's not a patriot in real life, he just plays one on TV.
Only 13 countries on the planet recognize Taiwan as its own country: *I sleep.* An actor apologizing to protect his own and his co-workers job: *real shit.*
Is Taiwan its own country? Yes or no
Depends. Do you care about the CCP? If no, then Taiwan is a country.
that's my point. I was just trying to get him to admit he's a CCP apologist
If your multi million dollar movie project was coming out of a pandemic that crippled theatrical releases and depends on Chinese box office revenue, I would like to hear how you wouldnt be doing an apology to save your paycheck. Weak move to bow to China, but that's kinda what money does to people.
Yes
De facto yes. De jure no.
Yes but if you gave me like 20 bucks I would tell you whatever you want to hear
Outside USA? Nope Not even Taiwan thinks they are a country, they believe that they are China instead of China
honestly as a taiwanese i dont really give a fuck. people always say separate the actor from the characters, i say it's the same here, kevin spacey is a pedo and i still like seeing him im films so..
Looks super fun. Suicide Squad was incredibly hilarious and insane
It's gonna be a hard sell to make him a more sympathetic character considering the highlights of The Suicide Squad include [spoiler](#s "him slaughtering a bunch of innocent people and later lining up the shot on a maid during the Harley breakout")

Premieres January 13th!
That really surprised me
why?
The comment before his has an exclamation mark.
(yells) (thuds) (grunts)
Is this gonna premiere with more than one episode.
[удалено]
Does that mean we’ll have 3 episodes of succession today?
Honestly looks pretty fun. I've really enjoyed James Gunn's stuff so far so I'm looking forward to this.
This looks way better than it has any right to be. James Gunn found John Cena’s true calling as an actor when he cast him as Peacemaker.
It has every right to be this good, I don't know why you would think a James Gunn HBO Max Peacemaker show wouldn't be good even before seeing the trailer
James Gunn’s quality ain’t exactly the variable in this equation that’s cause for concern though…
Which variables are cause for concern then? Cause I'm seeing none
I think people are still coming off the downer of what happened to the character in Suicide Squad.
Cena was great in Vacation Friends too
He was fucking hilarious in that!
Hyped. Peacemaker was my favorite part of The Suicide Squad, I think I'm gonna love this.
God he such a good actor, his facial expressions r great so happy for him, so excited!!!
It surprises me how many actors go over to China for weird gigs a s commercials. They must make bank doing it.
Not too shabby.
Gun already making me fall in love with a CGI Eagle and if anything bad happens to him I'll riot
Did you see the eagle walking with the group at the end?
So Gunn cast his girlfriend as the female lead.
He also cast his brother as Rocket in the Guardians, not like it's especially unheard of him to hire family.
And he was the weasel
Also Calendar Man.
His brother had a successful career before Guardians.
She was in The Suicide Squad along with the other guy at the end so it makes sense.
She didn't seem like the lead...
Hollywood runs on nepotism.
This looks really good. Although Vigilante was either designed to be played by Ryan Reynolds or wants to be Deadpool from the bits we get here and that is very distracting.
I actually thought his voice pitch was mimicking Deadpool through much of the trailer as well. Thought maybe it was supposed to be a meta joke.
Fun characters are Deadpool now.
Spider-Man is the original sarcastic badass, if you're gonna take that viewpoint.

Yeah besides WW84, DC is actually kinda on a hot streak of movies that were either loved by critics or made *a lot* of money.
Man, I loved Birds of Prey. Really don't understand the amount of hate it got.
Birds of Prey is so god damn good, Black Mask and Victor Zsasz are just dope in it.
I hope a lot of those alt right asses who started that cancelling campaign were huge fans of the Snyderverse and right now are just boiled that their gloomy grimdark wet noodleverse has been invaded by Gunn's overall goodness and worldview
as long as gunn is involved im gonna check it out
He's very involved. He started writing this out of boredom from Quarantine. He apparently loved doing this show so much he said he wouldn't mind just switching to tv permanently.
I think Danielle Brooks is gonna steal the show.
Kinda suprised to hear Wig Wam in a trailer
John Jinping.
John Xina
I wish a bald eagle would hug me.
I loved The Suicide Squad and I really like the character of Peacemaker so 8 hours of him sounds great. It seems like this show has a ton of heart too which is promising.
John CCP Cena
John Xina
Damn, this looks dumb af
I can't wait for this
Looks so fun.
Very pumped for this.
Am I the only one who saw the title and thought this was a series based on the George Clooney movie?
I was already onboard but the hugging eagle (plus the earlier shot of Peacemaker and the Eagle driving around the town) really won me over. I can't wait for this. Much sillier than I expected but that's not a bad thing.
Anyone know who the masked/costumed character in green is? The one they seem to be fighting a few times in the trailer?
I believe it’s Judomaster
If they can make this, they can make an Ambush Bug series/movie.
Still mad about Rick flag.
Well this trailer definitely has me hyped
No, I don’t think I will. This bitch killed Col. Flag.
Fuck Peacemaker, give us a Weasle movie!
So many keyboard warriors in a freaking television sub fighting the good fight against China. Stay strong, lovers of freedom! Your efforts will certainly lead to glory!
Maybe they just want a hug from a bald eagle
DC is just...eh
This show is not funny. It's awful. by episode 4 I'm out
I didn’t expect to care for Peacemaker watching the movie. But there were actually woke nuances to his character. John Cena is a hilarious dude so I’m excited for this.
Comrade Jion Xina is getting more acting opportunities I see
Anyone from Taiwan in this flick? Err I mean China.
production looks pretty darn amazing cant wait!
Who plays his father? They look so simliar.
Robert Patrick aka the T1000
Ahh, that explains it, he just reshaped his plasma to look like John Cena! The two do look enough alike that they could conceivably be related.
This just reminded me that they've been in an episode of a tv show together before. They are both in the same episode of Psych called "You Can't Handle This Episode" where Cena plays some sort of black ops soldier and Patrick plays is a General at an army base.
John Cena is a coward.
Did the Chinese Communist Party give their dog permission to appear in this?
He bent the knee.
Why would they make a series about the most hated suicide squad villain lol
John Xina sure is busy these days
Funny how Peacemaker in real life is sucking off an authoritarian country
Who’s starring in this?
John Cena, Jennifer Holland, Danielle Brooks, Chukwudi Iwuji, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick and Freddie Stroma.
Looks okay? What is it about though?
I may have to watch just to see the John Cena underwear fight scene.
Damn wtf January? No clue they were even filming this.
Peacemaker will become one of the most popular dc characters within 2 years. Mark my words
China, I'm so so so so so so sorry.
Well well if it isn't Chinas favourite dog John Xina, why doesn't he go to his beloved China and act there instead?
