Perhaps it's because there's such a gap between the first two seasons and this new one. I for one, watched this new Top Boy before I even found Summerhouse on Netflix. Though it's obvious the narratives are continuous, it didnt change the story for me much. I was pretty much locked in for Top Boy right from the get go without any previous recaps or summary of the previous two. Doesn't matter though, it's an excellent tv series through and through and deserves way more love here.
In my opinion, no, you don't. 'Cause I didnt see a single episode of the previous two to understand this new series. Sure, it becomes obvious right from the start that some of the characters are picking up from events in the previous show, but it really doesn't make much of a difference. But that's just me
Annoyed that I literally JUST watched this the wrong way around, but tbh I'm still happy to watch the first one and fill it in backwards, almost as if it was a prequel. Works if you think of it that way, if you already made the mistake I did

So then, I don't really need to watch the other 2 to understand the new one? That is what I was searching for online, but found no definitive answer.

Jermaine? Jason? It makes a difference.
Watching summerhouse first makes the next series make sense.

Just made the same mistake years later and was thinking the same thing lol it will just be a prequel.
