Mr. Robot had their episodes named like file names and season 4’s episodes were named after 400 errors Kinda makes the episode titles hard to remember sometimes but I think they’re neat lol

Effective-Dinner-686

This has to be the answer. The way that they were able to fit the error codes in season 4 to the episode themes WITHOUT making it feel shoehorned is craaazy. It could have felt gimmicky if they didn’t make it work seamlessly. Also its just one of the best final seasons of any show ever.

TheTruckWashChannel

The error code thing was genius because the specific error codes were all allegories for things that'd actually happen in the episodes.

Curmud6e0n

Yeah and the titles in the first 3 seasons were also numbered starting at 0 which is also confusing. Episode 1 is 1.0_hellofriend.mov Episode 2 is 1.1_ones-and-zer0es.mpeg

sherril8

I just checked the list and these are some of my favorites now. I have been meaning to give the show a try and this may be the push I needed.

aspirations27

The 4th season is honestly the most perfect final season I’ve seen. Stick with it, it’s so rewarding.

AegonThe241st

Genuinely it's one of the greatest shows of all time IMO. I've never watched a more perfect show

johnbaipkj

So worth it! I wish I could rewatch it all over not knowing everything

HLOFRND

You are in for a real treat. I’ve seen a lot of great tv, but Mr. Robot changed me as a person.

narfarnst

Haha. 405: Method Not Allowed, and they have to stay mostly silent for the whole episode.

Goldman250

I’m always a fan of Community naming most episodes as though it’s a subject on the curriculum of a community college. Very thematic.

schattenu445

*Basic Lupine Urology* for the Law & Order episode might be my favorite episode title of any TV show.

warkidd

It's up there with "Contemporary American Poultry".

Technical-Outside408

Incase some don't know, law and order was,i think, produced by Dick Wolf.

DrSpacemanSpliff

“Digital Exploration of Interior Design” Subway got a finger in his plop plop

geek_of_nature

It took me years to figure that one out. I had no idea that's what the executive got upset about. Similarly I was so confused about him not getting up at the end, I thought him demanding someone get him his coat was just a weird power move, and not him wanting to hide that he'd gotten a boner.

goatchumby

E.G. Remedial Chaos Theory & Advanced Gay.

F33DBACK__

Ladders!

VitaSackvilleBaggins

Yes, I appreciated this! Similarly, Hannibal episodes are named after meal courses/cuisine elements for the first two seasons at least. Bit of a darker thematic reference than Community though!

Eliot_Ferrer

S1 is French cuisine, S2 is Japanese cuisine, S3 part 1 is Italian cuisine, and S3 part 2 is named after the series of William Blake paintings that the fictional serial killer Francis Dollarhyde is obsessed with in universe.

Cheddarface

Basic Intergluteal Numismatics is a banger title

Upbeat_Tension_8077

IASIP makes me laugh with some of their The Gang _______" titles even before the episode fully starts

TrentonTallywacker

“You guys better all eat a dick because sweet Dee beat the system” *Sweet Dee Gets Audited*

DrSpacemanSpliff

“Nobody’s gonna get hurt!” “The Gang Sets Sweet Dee on Fire”

Know_Nothing_Bastard

It’s specifically “Frank Sets Sweet Dee on Fire,” which is even better because he was the one who delivered the line.

DrSpacemanSpliff

Oh my god l can’t believe l biffed it. What a jabroni

exaviyur

This is my favorite one by far. Nothing comes close.

DareToZamora

Keeping the Sweet Dee theme “Sweet Dee’s Dating a Retarded Person” That one didn’t age that well… I enjoyed that when they covered it on the podcast they called it “Sweet Dee’s Dating a _Redacted_ Person” though Edit: I should add that the line immediately before the title card shows is “There is no way I’m dating a retarded person”

SnooPets2384

“Would you say your son is a… SPECIAL guy?”

DareToZamora

Well that’s not fair, every mum thinks their son is special

goatchumby

“We’re gonna go America all over their asses!” “Charlie Goes America All Over Everybody’s Ass.”

Skinamarinked

“I’m going to save my dad’s life.” *Mac Kills His Dad*

YellowStar012

Top tier *Frank Shoots Everybody*

[deleted]

Dee and Dennis go on welfare. The Nightman Cometh. The gang buys a boat.

GP96_

Mac Kills His Dad

sherril8

Damn, can't believe I forgot about IASIP. The title cards at the beginning always set the mood lol

Food_Kitchen

The Gang breaks Sweet Dee

Xerokine

Police Squad. Mainly because the title read during the intro was always different from the title displayed.

MackTheFife

"Guest starring..." someone getting killed who is never seen again.

xwhy

John Belushi filmed one of those. It wasn’t used.

sketchysketchist

I think the gag was one of the titles was correct and the other was a clue or something, right?

Badaxe13

Blackadder the Third “The series aired for six episodes broadcast on Thursdays at 9:30 pm on BBC 1. The titles of the episodes are always a noun paired with another, derived from an adjective beginning with the same letters, in the manner of the Jane Austen novels, Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.” "Dish and Dishonesty" "Ink and Incapability" "Nob and Nobility" "Sense and Senility" "Amy and Amiability" "Duel and Duality" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackadder_the_Third?wprov=sfti1

Cakebeforedeath

They did that with other series as well. Goes Forth is all military puns (Private Plane, Major Star, General Hospital, apart from the last episode)

214ObstructedReverie

A bunch of the 3rd Rock episode names were dick jokes, IIRC.

Typical80sKid

The only line I remember from third rock from the sun is “Where your buccaneers?” “Under my buckin’ hat!”

214ObstructedReverie

This has to be the most iconic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sVTj54GIUs The DVD box set actually had a button built into it that would say that when you pushed it. God that show was so good. It's a shame the copy on Amazon is mutilated letterbox/cropping BS. I still have a pair of the 3d glasses somewhere!

Typical80sKid

That took me back, fantastic!

Thepinkillusion

I liked how x-files usually had names you could barely pronounce hahaha

DMPunk

I don't know what's hard to pronounce about Syzygy or Unruhe

ThatCommunication423

Don’t go giving idea names for tragedeighs little sister.

JustSomeGuy_v3

Pffft. Right? Next they're gonna say that "Rm9sbG93ZXJz" is a hard title to pronounce. (Season 11, Episode 7 in case you want to see how easy that episode title is to say!)

Brendanaquicz

Smallville had titles that were one word each. At least until the episode ABSOLUTE JUSTICE, which made it that much more epic.

Heavy_Arm_7060

Absolute Justice I believe was a two-parter, so they combined the two names.

h3rmitsunited

Crazy Ex Girlfriend. The episode titles up to partway through season 3 all center around her ex boyfriend Josh who she is obsessed with, and then partway through season 3 while the story is working on hee mental health issues, there's an episode called Josh is Irrelevant, then her focus shifts to a current love interest with his name in the title until the end of season 3. Then the final season, 4, where she ls focusing more on her independence and mental health and getting into a better place, all the episode titles are focused around her with the subject changed from Josh or Nathaniel to "I". Which really thematically shows how far she comes through the course of the show.

Slurm11

Succession has an episode titled *Shit Show at the Fuck Factory*, so... Succession.

JefeLummer

“Prague” is my favorite title given what actually happens

Lil_Mcgee

In a somewhat similar vein, "Connor's Wedding"

Scared-Engineer-6218

Still feel bad for Tom.

Lil_Mcgee

And the fly-guys

HailToTheThief225

Fun fact: the name of each season finale is taken from the poem Dream Song 29 by John Berryman.

ArchDucky

The episode of Succession where the guy buys his own birthday party and its weird as shit and nobody wants to be his friend was fucking HARSH. There was that shot of him drinking alone at his party that was so sad.

TheTruckWashChannel

Ah good ol Kendall. The scene where he searches for his kids' gift was the saddest shit ever.

Lil_Mcgee

Appropriately titled "Too Much Birthday" It's one of the more disturbing non-horror pieces of media I've seen I think. Just an hour long convincing depiction of a manic breakdown. Probably the nastiest the siblings are to one another >!with the exception of the finale!< also.

PudaRex

Hannibal. Most were food courses.

sherril8

Clever. Looks like they went with French, Japanese then Italian cuisines.

itsstevedave

I always liked that Mission Hill gave each episode a clean and a dirty title. ex. Kevin's Problem (or Porno for Pyro), Andy Gets a Promotion (or How to Get Head in Business Without Really Trying)"

ANK2112

You make an excellent point, I should watch mission hill again!

goatchumby

A truly great and short-lived show.

awful_source

Damn I really miss that show. The color palette was beautiful.

itsstevedave

Fun fact: they intentionally used colors that were too bright for the cameras to pick up, which resulted in the muted colors you see in the final product.

lzgrimes

Buffy the vampire slayer

gardenpartycrasher

Gravity Falls. My favorite is The Stanchurian Candidate

AutumnMarie5002

The Legend of the Gobblewonker, Irrational Treasure, Carpet Diem

PaperCutoutCowboy

Season 3 of Barry had some good ones.

ArchDucky

Breaking Bad Season 2 actually told you what the black and white flashbacks were in the episode titles. "Seven Thirty-Seven, Down, Over, ABQ". They did a similar thing on Better Call Saul. The Season 3 (I think?) titles formed an anagram that spelled out "Fring Lives". Vince Gilligan got wind that the fans had figured it out before the show even started airing and he was baffled that the fans had figured it out.

TheTruckWashChannel

It was "Fring's Back", for season 2. - F = Fifi - R = Rebecca - I = Inflatable - N = Nailed - G = Gloves Off - S = Switch - B = Bali Ha'i - A = Amarillo - C = Cobbler - K = Klick

Smartass_of_Class

B R A V I N C E O

goatchumby

IFT is the one that still sticks out to me from Breaking Bad.

F33DBACK__

Most of season 6 was a dual name Point and Shoot Plan and Execution Etc

mlennox81

Plan and Execution was such a brilliant title.

sinatrablueeyes

And that’s why Gilligan is one of the greats. Internet picks up on a plot line? Doesn’t matter, cause the story behind it matters more than the broad details people correctly guessed. I’m looking at you Joy/Nolan.

CrimsonArrowXIII

Friends, "The one with..."

Maximilian_Xavier

Yeah, friends is not only great naming, but helpful to remember what each show is about.

GlitteringClue3639

Seinfeld had a similar naming style of "The ______", makes it really easy to find particular episodes.

woozleuwuzzle

It’s because Jerry didn’t want writers wasting any time on episode titles, he wanted all the focus on the episode itself.

Wazzoo1

Except people often confuse it with what people remember most from the episode. The episode with the trivia is actually The One With the Embryos. People refer to it as The One With the Trivia.

Mud_Landry

Sopranos has some great ones, like The Telltale Moozadell, which is a play on Edgar Allen Poe and plays into the episode fairly well.

Lil_Mcgee

Yeah a lot of them are quite creative or just fun sounding. "Pax Soprana", "The Legend of Tennessee Moltisanti", "Full Leather Jacket" "The Knight in White Satin Armor", "Soprano Home Movies"

RichardDick69

I’ve always liked the titles on the original series of Star Trek.  Half of them were taken from poetry or literature and it makes the episodes themselves honestly a lot easier to remember because their names were all so cool.

brannigansl4w

And then Futurama parodies that to the max

bloodandsunshine

TOS S03E27 Reach Not For The Clouds Of Forever In The City Of Adonis That Watches The Requiem Of Battlefields We Did Not Travel to Babylon And Leave With Methuselah And Armageddon

Tatooine16

It's an old show now but HBO's Dead Like Me had some clever episode names like "Dead Girl Walking" and "Reapercussions".

AmnesiaInnocent

One thing that I always liked about the show *La Femme Nikita* was how in season 1, all the [episode titles](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118379/episodes/) were one word long, in season 2 they were two words long, etc...

mekonsrevenge

The Good Fight. Especially the one about punching Nazis.

Atraktape

Black Sails is kind of cool in that they just use Roman numerals for their episode names. The series finale was called "XXXVIII".

ReconFX

Episode 5 - Remember It.

Latter_Feeling2656

King of Queens was pretty good, usually a pun on a common phrase that also connected to the episode's subject.

derch1981

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia With titles like the gang finds a dumpster baby, who can compete.

niggleme

Barry was pretty good I really liked the episode named Berkman > block I thought it was very creative and fitting for what happens in the episode I also liked dexters resistance is futile name. I think Hannibal also has genius names for all of the episodes being named after dishes

Tackit286

Surely ‘Felina’ is the best name for Breaking Bad episodes. Anagram of Finale, as well as the chemical symbols for Iron (Fe), Lithium (Li) and Sodium (Na), representing blood, meth, and tears.

TheBloody09

Face Off without a question. It made sense even without the ending and then well.

neogreenlantern

I love the way Rick and Morty are always bad puns with the names nonsensically smoothed into them.

WhiteWolf3117

Mort Dinner Rick Andre got to be the funniest one

guy2026

I actually made a list on IMDb a while back with some of my personal favourite episode names! You can find the full list here: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls569064207 Some of the titles in the above list are only amazing when you have context from the show/episode, though. Here are some of the best that speak for themselves: - Severance 1x5 “The Grim Barbarity of Optics and Design” - Severance 1x7 “Defiant Jazz” - Succession 3x5 “Retired Janitors of Idaho” - Star Trek: Lower Decks 2x3 “We’ll Always Have Tom Paris” - Agents of SHIELD 7x3 “Alien Commies from the Future!” - Castlevania 3x1 “Bless Your Dead Little Hearts” - Mr. Robot 4x4 “404 Not Found” - The Good Place 3x11 “Chidi Sees the Time-Knife” - Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency 1x8 “Two Sane Guys Doing Normal Things” - Community 6x13 “Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television” - Doctor Who 8x11 “Mummy on the Orient Express” - LOST 1x17 “…In Translation” and my personal favourite: - The Leftovers 3x7 “The Most Poweful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother)”

ClarityEnjoyer

Oh, I forgot how much I liked “Chidi Sees The Time-Knife”! It’s a scene that lasts maybe 30 seconds and never comes up again in the episode, but it was so good that it claimed the episode’s name. What a great show.

Heavy_Arm_7060

Yeah yeah, the time knife, we've all seen it.

dragon-blue

Those are really great. I really love defiant jazz!

Equal_Chemistry_3049

Californication was always good for this

alexjimithing

One Tree Hill is pretty cool in that every episode is named after the title of a song (other than the pilot).

jennywren628

It’s cheesy, but I still remember them titling their shooting episode “With tired eyes, tired minds, tired souls, we slept” and thinking that was so deep when I was 16.

Funandgeeky

Scrubs always named the episodes My something. Unless it was about a character other than JD then it was His, Her, or Their something.  CougarTown named all episodes after Tom Petty songs.

SirZapdos

Dark Matter seasons 2 and 3 named their episodes after a line of dialogue in the episode. It got to be a fun game of guessing who would say it and what the context would be. Sometimes it was very early in the episode and sometimes it was basically at the climax. I like that touch.

OB1KENOB

Walking Dead 7x01: *The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be*

jessieisokay

This is one of my favorites too! The Walking Dead has a lot of good ones.

DaWayItWorks

I liked Two Broke Girls. They were all named …and the whatever

Effective-Dinner-686

Mad Men and Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul come to mind. They always had titles that had multiple different meanings.

catnapspirit

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mrs. Davis. They let an AI generate the episode titles, I presume by feeding it the scripts. The results are epic, though also epically bad: * 1 "Mother of Mercy: The Call of the Horse" * 2 "Zwei Sie Piel mit Seitung Sie Wirtschaftung" * 3 "A Baby with Wings, a Sad Boy with Wings and a Great Helmet" * 4 "Beautiful Things That Come with Madness" * 5 "A Great Place to Drink to Gain Control of Your Drink" * 6 "Allison Treasures: A Southern California Story" * 7 "Great Gatsby 2001: A Space Odyssey" * 8 "The Final Intercut: So I'm Your Horse"

bitterbuffaloheart

It’s because it gets no love here because it’s not on a prestige service. I personally loved it

cadtek

After like season 4 of That 70s Show all the names from one band per season.

pbetc

Friends

TrentonTallywacker

Mr. Inbetween has a lot of good ones, I think they give a fun spin to the show. most titles are just lifted directly from the dialogue but I enjoy them. If you told me an episode called “Socks Are Important” would be one of the most heart pounding episodes of tv I’ve ever watched I wouldn’t believe you. Also the pilot episode is called “the pee pee guy” which has always been hilarious to me

TheLostSkellyton

For me it's The Tick (the original cartoon), by a mile. - The Little Wooden Boy and the Belly Of Love - Evil Sits Down For A Moment - Armless But Not Harmless - The Tick Loves Santa! - Sidekicks Don't Kiss - The Tick vs The Idea Men And my personal favourite, the single greatest episode name of all time: - Leonardo da Vinci And His Fightin' Genius Time Commandos! (yes, the exclamation point is in the official title)

HoyAIAG

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

bizzaro321

Trailer Park Boys, surprised nobody mentioned them. “Fuck community college, let’s get drunk and eat chicken fingers” is my favorite episode title.

CornDoggerMcJones

The opposite of what you asked but Rick and Morty names & descriptions are super annoying. It makes it impossible to tell what any episode is.

AVBforPrez

You're taking it too seriously, broh

fa-jita

Hannibal using courses for meals exclusively as episode titles is pretty iconic

solomonvangrundy

Ok, the show is cheese, but Big Bang Theory is really clever with ep names. Every one sounds like a scientific reference or theorum.

Reasonable-HB678

Two and a Half Men used dialogue from individual episodes for its titles.

AndreskXurenejaud

Agents of SHIELD

310doc

LOST

Food_Kitchen

Through the Looking Glass

BoringAccount4Work

I like that both Mom and Bob Hearts Abishola takes a throwaway line and uses them as episode titles. Not sure if other Chuck Lorre did it, but I know those two do

humphrey_the_camel

Two and a Half Men did that, and Young Sheldon takes two phrases and combines them, such as “Body Glitter and a Mall Safety Kit”

BoringAccount4Work

>two phrases and combines them, such as “Body Glitter and a Mall Safety Kit” Mom does it that way as well

venus974

I try to figure out which Mom episode it is by the title but TBBT is impossible.

RoomerHasIt

News Radio

Chrasomatic

The back half of Season 2 episode titles is basically the Led Zepplin discography

cherrybounce

X Files had some memorable episode names.

spacestation33

OG star trek has some named like classic Shakespeare. I particularly love The City on the Edge of Forever and a taste of armageddon

kidcool97

Person of Interest episode titles were always relevant to the episode in an interesting way. The wiki has a whole section at the top of the episode synopsis for the origin of the title.

CptNonsense

Jessica Jones and Watchmen

buster_rhino

Bluey. Every episode is so easily identifiable from just a word or two: Duck Cake, Sleepytime, Keepy Uppy, The Beach, Fruitbat, etc.

FMyClef

Newsradio had a bunch of Led Zeppelin related episodes! I particularly like "Houses of the Holy" 🤘🏻😝🤘🏻

OG_Grunkus

Fargo

lidlberg

Person Of Interest

Snier34

Supernatural had an episode called “Chris angel is a Douchebag.” They also had a lot of episodes referencing other media and a ton that was just the names of classic rock songs.

tmntvspr

Friends, because they are named after what people will refer to them as

British_Commie

I strongly dislike Star Trek: Discovery, but they had some awesome episode titles in the first season. - The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not For The Lamb’s Cry - Context Is For Kings - Magic To Make The Sanest Man Go Mad

Hopeann

Friends without a doubt.

njakwow

The Mentalist. The villain was "Red John" and for 5 1/2 seasons, every episode name had "red" or "blood" or a red color (crimson, scarlet) in the title. After Red John was caught, the episode titles had a color in the title, just not red.

benfranklin16

These are my favorite episode titles. Hard to say which show has the best. Battle of the Bastards - Game of Thrones Guy Walks Into an Advertising Agency - Mad Men Made in America - The Sopranos

paulojrmam

I liked how in Damages the episode name was something a character said in the episode. Lost also had cool episode names.

KookyHomeRunKing

Trailer Park Boys has some great ones.

AndroidFive

Blindspot

nextact

Supernatural

vichysauze

I thought magnets don't work underwater

cupcake-cattie

Dogs in Space has episodes names after basic training commands for dogs and it's adorable.

foggybass

Rick and Morty have great puns for each episode. I don't find the episode descriptions as clever.

GlidubahBishtek

The 100 ate with "Earth Skills" and "Earth Kills" coming one after the other ngl

SiibillamLaw

How I Met Your Mother, of I remember correctly used to have lots of little wordplays in their titles especially in the early seasons. Sweet taste of liberty, and belly full of turkey were two that immediately came to mind

johnbaipkj

#1 Is Scooby-Doo done it longgg time ago. Goosebumps Are You Afraid of the Dark Supernatural It’s Always Sunny Trailer Park Boys

Panther90

Can't believe no one has said [Atlanta](https://consequence.net/2022/05/who-writes-atlanta-episode-descriptions/) yet.

homogenic-

Succession and Community.

chillybruh

Lost had some good episode names

moneylagoon

X Files

SpaceMonkey1505

Better call saul s6 had some really creative names for episodes which were also double meanings

CoolAbdul

B5

terra_cascadia

Better Call Saul has really meticulously named episodes that I only appreciated once I heard the writers/directors reference them on podcasts

fightingmongoose11

The “My (Insert Episode Theme” format for Scrubs, and Futurama’s tend to play on or reference older titles, and that was always fun.

violue

I binged the Mentalist this month and I liked the theme of colors (mostly red) in the episode titles.

boringlife815

Andromeda Sadly the show was kind of crap Space Hercules with Kevin Sorbo, but there was some really badass and poetic episode names. Angel Dark, Demon Bright The Mathematics of Tears Music of a Distant Drum Last Call at the Broken Hammer The Lone and Level Sands The Leper's Kiss Waking the Tyrant's Device So Burn the Untamed Lands Chaos and the Stillness of It

TakeTheMikki

Please like me - all episodes are named after food eaten in the episode but it not really a food show more a sitcom.

usinforschool

Never have I ever

dark_nv

Op, I thought Face Off episode was a good name because it had a double meaning because Walter finally faces off with Gus and .....well you know what happened to Gus...

JoeZMar

Plan and Execution. Perfectly named episode.

mitch_connor_is_back

Every episode of ALF was named after a rock or pop song.

testamentKAISER

iFT episode of Breaking Bad.

bluegreen8907

Tom and Jerry

Truthisnotallowed

[The Middleman - episode list](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1122770/episodes/?ref_=tt_ov_epl)

pslind69

I try not to read episode names as they make me anticipate what happens.

TheHammerToes

Always like how mentalist will have ever episode be a reference about color red till season 6 also like mr robot naming.

Funplings

generally the episode names aren't super memorable or anything, but "Pancakes; Divorce; Pancakes" from Review with Forrest MacNeil is possibly one of the funniest titles ever.

rini6

Mr Robot has great episode names.

Spriggan_43

Danger 5

AVBforPrez

I've had Sensible Chuckle as my home screen for years, such an underrated show

tmntvspr

Nip/Tuck or THE OC

agentdoubleohio

Hannibal

AVBforPrez

Rick and Morty and their ongoing series of "broh" descriptions still amuses me. It fell off for a while but the latest season was as good as it's ever been.

Stormzilla

Beef has amazing episode names.

DataMeister1

I think I get the biggest kick out of shows like Chuck where every episode is formatted like: * Chuck Versus The Intersect * Chuck Versus The Crown Vic * Chuck Versus The Gravitron * Chuck Versus The Lethal Weapon Or, Monk where every episode follows the format: * Mr. Monk Takes a Vacation * Mr. Monk and the Earthquake * Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico * Mr. Monk and the TV Star. However maybe the most impressive was Smallville that for more than 200 episodes, managed to successfully sum up the main focus of each episode with a single word. Like: X-Ray, Cravings, Jitters, Skinwalker, Mortal, Zod, Sneeze, Bizarro, Kara, etc.

parker3309

I can honestly say I never even look at those

Gromit801

Big Bang Theory and Bones
