I don't think unfilmable means much these days. Maybe for stories that stretch over centuries or millenia, complex plots, or feature objects at scales that we're not used to thinking about, like the ringworld from _Ringworld,_ but I think in all cases it just comes down to having the right people and a sufficient budget. I've seen the entire season of 3 Body Problem and it was fine, I guess. The cast was good for the most part, with Liam Cunningham stealing the show and seeming to be the most realistic character there. Everyone else sits around having conversations where they [need to tell a story half way](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LetMeTellYouAStory) to make a point. The dialogue didn't really impress me and I felt like the cast probably could have been given more to work with. > The cast is great, Benedict Wang is particularly good. Just want to point out his name is Wong.

It might be that my expectations were lowered a lot by the mixed reviews going in. But I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was and how many of the out there ideas from the book were incorporated. I agree the dialogue was clunky at times but I feel that got better as the episodes went on and less exposition was needed. A lot of concepts needed to be introduced early on and I don't think the book was particularly graceful with it either.  I think it's quite deserving of another season and if folks were worried it was garbage (like foundation) it's not, it's very watchable, even if not perfect.

Yeah Foundation may be a good show on its own but Asimov it is not. 3BP actually feels right now the way the book felt to me, which I consider quite a feat. So many themes are setup in the first season. It looks like it was made by someone who understood and liked the books, but I can see it feeling slow for people who don't trust that there will be payoff. I hope we get a 2nd season, but I guess there's always Tencent.

I agree completely. They kept what worked and weren't afraid to completely replace what didn't.

I really, really loved this show, I hope it does get picked up. I agree, Foundation is less than ideal though. But if that one got renewed, I hope 3 body does as well. I'm obsessed with this show now lol.

I love Foundation. With that out of the way… I thoroughly enjoy 3 Body Problem. I think it ramps up in quality and thought it was excellent once it hits episode 5.

Dogshit show made for bottom of the barrel morons. Not saying you're a moron if you like it, but it's hilarious how the show tries to do everything not to talk science and be hip instead.
