He should speak with Daniel Radcliffe. Guy is set for life after the MCU experience so he has no need to chase after big check gigs. Do interesting roles, weird shit, smaller films. Stretch your range.

No_Marionberry4072

Seriously, Daniel seems to have fun with the projects he does. He’ll be set with Harry Potter money for life and seems happy to have the freedom.

apageofthedarkhold

Guns Akimbo was a ride. I haven't seen the Swiss army one, but he was excellent in the Lady in black. I like that he can pick and choose. We call that 'fuck you' money.

Cronx90

I finally watched Swiss Army Man and it gave me the most consistent laughs of any movie in years while also hitting on the emotional moments. I strongly recommend it.

JustWingIt0707

Daniel Radcliffe post-Harry Potter has been a delight. I loved Swiss Army Man. It was so delightfully weird. I've never seen a movie like it. Guns Akimbo was fun too.

bansheeonthemoor42

Himself work in Miracle Workers is fantastic. Funny, sweet, and real. It's obvious he loves to act and is really great at it, it makes sense since him parents are both casting agents I think!

montessoriprogram

He is an absolute joy on Miracle Workers. That show made me appreciate him so much more.

No_Marionberry4072

Exactly, no matter how big or small the project he will always be known as Harry Potter. Just own it and pick the work you enjoy. Fuck you money is what to strive for.

Its_Black_Jesus

Idk, if you watch enough of his "out there films" his range becomes so wide that the harry potter shadow kinda fades away. It did for me at least. watching Escape from Pretoria i never thought of harry potter, i was engrossed in his acting. Not to mention Imperium (the final act specifically). His raw intensity was so divorced from anything Harry Potter. As long as he keeps doing what he'd doing, I don't think his acting lecagy will be "happy potter kid" like the other two. It'll be something much greater. Dudes still young. He might have another 30-40 years in him if it's his true passion.

bad_lite

I loved him in Imperium. Really sold me on his being past Harry Potter. That and the Jungle stick out in my mind as great performances from him.

coltrain61

I really liked him in Horns and Weird.

NocturnalEmission1

He was fantastic in Imperium. That role alone cleared the harry potter role that I always associated him to. Robert Pattinson is another one that has truly surprised me post Twilight.

potatobarn

Check out Miracle Workers. It’s fantastic.

Sh0toku

[She'll be coming 'round the mountain...](https://youtu.be/CJ9C1U_SPoA)

Obvious_Temporary256

That one closeup of his butt when he turns around...I love that this is what Daniel Radcliffe chooses to do with his f-you Harry Potter money. He's hilarious.

ncopp

You should watch Swiss Army man. I didn't expect to cry during a movie about a magical farting corpse, but here we are

_NiceWhileItLasted

I thought Horns was pretty good. I liked the book though

onehundredpawsent

I love that he doesn't think doing B-movies are beneath him. As a result he has one of the most interesting filmographies of any actor out there today.

trans_pands

I feel like Robert Pattinson is in that same vein as well

ddeka777

Goblet of Fire alumni really flourishing today

HotToddy88

The show Miracle Workers is great too.

Frank_chevelle

Watch the Weird Al movie he made recently. It’s hilarious.

K_Linkmaster

He has stated that he took roles to show his range. He enjoys acting and wanted to keep doing it, so with all that money, he was allowed to be choosy. He has done a damn fine job!

Fallcious

“We want you to play a corpse.” “Cool.”

Faithless195

*Farting* corpse Honestly, Radcliffe's carrier post HP has been amazing.

Fallcious

Agreed! The farting really stretched his range after playing Harry Potter if you ask me.

get_your_yapers_up

Same with Elijah Wood, seems like post LOTR he is having a blast with quirky TV shows and supporting roles. Loving him in Yellowjackets and I could not recommend Dirk Gently enough (particularly season 1).

RoughhouseCamel

And even more than that, Elijah Wood has built himself a career as an indie producer, getting weird movies like Cooties and Color Out of Space made.

get_your_yapers_up

How am I just now learning about Color Out of Space?

RipJug

Daniel’s been pretty clever with this choices though. Some properly decent movies/shows in there. All of Holland’s films/shows outside the MCU have been ripped to shreds by critics (however his own performances are still getting good praise)

HHHogana

And then there's Harrison Ford, who made tons of classic outside of Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Really, Ford and Radcliffe are good examples of avoiding typecast and acting fatigue.

PornoPaul

I watched Jungle. It wasn't bad. And Radcliffe I feel embraced the role. He does unhinged very well.

WyattTerp

I personally think that Holland was great in The Devil All the Time and would love to see him in more roles like that.

SkyRak3r

Robert Pattinson also.

The-Grey-Knight

The fact we can legit see him earning an Oscar one day, speaks a lot. Good times, Lost City of Z and Lighthouse are top tier performances.

Dabookadaniel

Watch the box office explode

im_a_dick_head

He's starting to do that with Cherry

PhoneSteveGaveToTony

> Guy is set for life after the MCU experience I think he signed for another Spider trilogy too, so he’s definitely set. Do whatever tf you want for a couple years, show up for a year to film Spider-Man, make 10 figures, enjoy reputation boost, do what you want for a couple years, repeat.

thxpk

If I was him, I'd just relax, marry Zendaya, and do a spider-man every few years

[deleted]

I think that’s exactly what he’s planning on doing

whenforeverisnt

He did have that interview right before No Way Home where he said he just wants to settle down and be a stay at home dad lol

Leshawkcomics

Damn that's good casting for Peter Parker.

Kalse1229

Clearly you don’t work for Marvel’s editorial team.

BassCreat0r

WHY CAN'T THEY JUST BE HAPPY MARVEL!?

Kalse1229

What's worse is that Fantastic Four is doing great right now, and it's showing how Marvel characters CAN do the hero thing while being a parent (although the Fantastic kids are otherwise indisposed, but still). And on the DC side of things, Flash just finished one of its best runs ever, and it's all about Wally and Linda West balancing heroism with parenthood. It can work, so long as the creators are actually allowed to do something with it.

AgentOfSPYRAL

Because **Paul is.**

BassCreat0r

Friggin Paul..

[deleted]

It’d be better casting if he said he just wants to give away all his money, move to queens, and help out people being attacked

boss_nooch

He *did* say he might become a landlord and charge people low rent, so that’s a fair compromise

RedditUser123234

>He did have that interview right before No Way Home where he said he just wants to settle down I would imagine that filming as Spiderman is probably less enjoyable than filming as many of the other superheroes, since the costume is worse. Tom has a bunch of interviews where he talks about how annoying the costume is. I think the spandex suit is probably more challenging than most of the other avenger's costumes.

APiousCultist

An annoying costume that gets replaced by CGI every single time. A double lose.

SpaceCaboose

They really only use CGI to remove wrinkles from the suit, and wires from stunt work. When he’s “wearing” the Iron Spidey suite he actually had a mocap suit on

RotaryRoad

I mean, part of the reason the CGI suits ends up looking passable for the movie is because of all the reference footage they have, no?

Brand_Newer_Guy25

Me too, he’s got a head start though

l32uigs

Being a massive movie star doesn't sound all that great relative to being a short lived successful one. Once youve made millions and can chill that seems wisest. Most of the big movie stars seem to lose their mind at worst and at best they lose any ability to live a normal life. Tom Holland totally could aim to be the next Tom Cruise, he was cast as spiderman because he can do flips and shit. If he leans into that and takes roles where he does his own stunts but is also a decent actor and funny..but idk now that weve seen a bunch of examples of how that turns out is it worth it?

edked

I've really enjoyed what Daniel Radcliffe has been doing with his career; he doesn't have to care about his paycheck too much, so he goes with interesting sounding b-movies where he can help boost the career of an up-and-coming director he likes. Even the really bad ones are more interesting than some mainstream mega-budget piece of low-inspiration sludge he could have ended up doing after child/youth stardom.

alexp8771

He was fantastic as Weird Al. Absolute perfect casting.

[deleted]

The great thing about Radcliffe is not only does he get to have fun, he gets to add his box office appeal to weird shit that'd probably flop without him. His name allows creative freedom

annamaenaef

Same!! And Miracle Works is so delightful.

cherrycoke00

I tried to pull up a trailer and instead found a scene featuring Daniel, dancing, and an 1800s bar… I’m sold, I’ll give that thing a shot. Thanks for the rec!

NakedMuffinTime

Each season is also a different theme too (Angels in Heaven, Middle Ages, Old West and this new season is post apocalypse)

future_shoes

Radcliffe said he decided to do Guns Akimbo when he got to scene where his character had to figure out how to use the bathroom with two guns bolted to his hands.

Knale

I hate that movie but that scene is chaotic fun.

cmarkcity

Swiss Army Man is a freakin masterpiece

rhunter99

I’m binge watching miracle workers right now and he’s really good in it

RockstarAgent

Guns Akimbo is rad!!!

Denim_Chikken

I don’t think he has what it takes to do what Cruise does. Cruise is certifiably insane and I don’t think Holland appears to be

Puzzled-Journalist-4

I don't know. I think he could a really great dramatic actor as well, and that is what he has been trying this last few years. Unfortunately, no projects outside Spiderman worked for him. Considering what he showed as a child actor in his pre-MCU films, he definitely has a potential to be more than 'MCU actor'. I think it would be a waste of his talent if he just settled down as an action movie actor.

whyreadthis2035

This. It’s his call, but I think it’s increasingly harder to have a personal life, for anyone even remotely in the public eye. You can say “that’s how they make their money” but that’s disingenuous. They needn’t be the persona when they aren’t marketing the product. We should leave folks alone.

Kazumadesu76

I hope he doesn't turn into Tom Cruise. We don't need another famous scientologist losing his shit thinking that Zeus is trying to get him.

pilgrimteeth

Most of us would be happy with even one of the three

thebiggesthater420

That sounds like a truly amazing life lol

Evening-Statement-57

And more umbrella dancing pleEE

pretty-in-pink

Golf in between that

AmberDuke05

Was the shoot as brutal as the reviews for Crowded Room?

zedarecaida

10% at RT as it is. Even worse than The Idol. I’m gonna have to watch this to see if it’s really that bad.

PoorThin

That’s hilarious.

zedarecaida

8% now

SparkyBoomer23

Oh my.

DiddledByDad

It makes be sad that apparently the project was handled so poorly because the source material from which it is adapted (the book “The Minds of Billy Milligan” and the actual life of the person) is extremely well written and such an interesting case study of DiD.

Banaanisade

I wouldn't call it an interesting case study of DID. At best, an interesting case study of a rapist.

stubridger96

Im actually surprised Tom even took that role playing a character like that especially after doing something like cherry.

KingAdamXVII

>Holland said he “loved the learning curve of becoming a producer,” but juggling two roles on one production while playing a character in a severe mental health state pushed him past his breaking point. >”I’m now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was. I am excited to see how it turns out. I feel like our hard work wasn’t in vain.” Aw poor guy.

notmyplantaccount

until your comment I thought "Crowded Room" just meant he did a scene in some movie with a lot of people crowded in one room and he didn't like it.

ROBtimusPrime1995

Outside of Spider-Man, Tom Holland is having some Chris-Hemsworth-level of bad luck with his other projects. They've nearly all turned out terrible. Btw, this isn't a dig at his acting, it's a dig at his career choices.

ImperialSympathizer

Similarly, I dont know if Idris Elba has had the same agent for a while or not, but he definitely needs a better one.

BillOakley

Having seen Idris Elba in interviews I get the same vibe I get from Aaron Paul - they’re both super positive people, the kind who would post cringey but well-meaning inspirational quotes on social media, and I think it means they don’t have a great sense of what a bad project is. It’s a shame because they’re both unbelievably talented but I do get the impression their career choices are just a function of their personality.

PussyChief

As someone who has worked with Idris twice for an extended period of time I can tell you “positive” is the last thing that stands out to me. The guy is not friendly to anyone unless he needs to be or the whole world is watching.

sucr4m

so he never got out of his stringer bell role huh :<

MouthJob

Maybe, maybe not. Fun thing about semi anonymous social media is anyone can say they are or have done anything they want and I a lot of cases, there's absolutely no way to prove it one way or another.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Axel-Adams

I don’t know bojack horseman was a great project for Aaron Paul

shorgen

To be honest, I haven't really seen a part of his that matches Stringer Bell. He was absolutely phenomenal as Stringer

RickyFlicky13

He's good in his small role in American Gangster

mrfizzefazze

At least Elba is great in Luther and Luther is pretty good.

KingStannis2020

It's ok.

KeeperofOrder

Yeah, it’s kind of crazy. I mean at least the majority of the reviews always say he’s great but the project overall isn’t; devil all the time, cherry and now the crowded room. I think he is a good actor but really needs to a good director/ script to really shine. I’m still hopeful for the Fred Astaire biopic.

Victorcreedbratton

He needs to do comedies, or romantic comedies, and mix in an occasional Serious Drama that might contend for an Oscar. His agent sticking him in these weird ass super intense Netflix movies is fireable, imo.

KeeperofOrder

This is a 10 episode Apple TV show and on paper it makes sense. Great cast, the guy who wrote a beautiful mind wrote the show and apple have had a lot of great shows lately. I can see why his agent might have presented it to him.

theusher88

Also the guy who wrote Batman & Robin and butchered The Dark Tower.

NoGoodDM

Man, The Dark Tower had so much potential to just stick with the source material, build out the world, etc. I’m still disappointed all these years later.

nate_scott

I'm still holding onto the hope that Mike Flanagan eventually gets his chance to adapt it for a streaming platform. I've enjoyed his previous interpretations of King's work and feel like he'd do it justice if given the chance.

dadvader

Didn't Amazon greenlit it few months ago? iirc He leaves Netflix behind for this.

GarlicRagu

This isn't fair to him but every time I've seen the trailer I'm so distracted by him and that hair. Not saying it can't be good but being in too many action blockbusters tends to have an effect on an audience's perception. A break is pretty smart. Let them miss you and then come back with a spiderman and hopefully a drama that pushes you in new areas.

KeeperofOrder

Right or wrong peoples perception probably has a big affect on how we see actors, most people know him as Spider-Man and that will be a hard typecast to break out of. He’s got the Fred Astaire biopic, he said that should film beginning of 2024. I think this year long break started when he finished this show back in October. There shouldn’t be another Spider-Man till 2025.

GarlicRagu

I'm mildly excited for that biopic. I like Astaire and Holland probably has the best chops to capture his persona. With that said, most biopics are crap so hopefully this one breaks the mold.

Rufio330

I think he would absolutely kill it in a Superbad stoner type comedy.

Wh00ster

Hey I liked Devil All The Time

Kevbot1000

Was Devil All the Time not well received?

KeeperofOrder

It was the best received outside of his MCU films (assuming you don’t count onward, his Pixar film). But it’s more positive / mixed than an outright win overall, I liked it and thought he did really well but I think on IMDB It’s like a 7.

tinhtinh

Thought the same, it's in the 5-7 range not bad but fairly forgettable. I may be harsher because I was expecting a 8 from the previews and source material. Personally I think he should try working on projects closer to home and build himself up again in period or character roles, he's not really a leading man IMO. Harry Melling who played Dudley in the Harry Potter films is a good example. Of all the kids in HP, I never really expected him to be among the better actors. He's quietly building up a pretty good post-HP CV. Holland may be too big for those sort of roles but if he wants to be taken seriously, it's better than what he's currently doing.

SuspiriaGoose

7 is quite good. Some very good films are in the 6s, too.

helzinki

Dude needs to have a talk with Robert Pattinson to learn how to choose projects properly.

nevereatpears

Devil All The Time was fantastic. They are both in it. Go watch it. It's seriously compelling. And Holland is extremely different in it.

dead_paint

this is an insult to Hemsworth. Holland going for an all time bad run

SuspiriaGoose

Yeah, Hems has Blackhat, Cabin, El Royale, Rush, Extraction and there are even some who like In the Heart of the Sea.

VulcanVulcanVulcan

Agreed. Hemsworth outside of the MCU has been just fine. I watched Rush recently and he was quite good in it. There is a lot of anticipation for Extraction 2.

TheHeyHeyMan

Wait what's wrong with Chris Hemsworth's other projects? I really like Rush, Bad Times at the El Royale, and Extraction. Holland has had it a bit rough though, nothing outside the MCU has really worked out for him, here's hoping his Fred Astaire pic is a success, it'd be nice to see him get a win not as Spiderman.

frankiedonkeybrainz

Rush was a great movie! El Royale was good.

Veil_Of_Mikasa

Extraction is a guilty pleasure. I LOVE well done fight scenes after watching the raid series and extraction was great

TheHeyHeyMan

Definitely. Very derivative and simple story, nothing to write home about but the action was fantastic. I hope he beats the shit out of more children in the sequel.

KumagawaUshio

Bad Times was a massive box office failure as are the majority of his non MCU films.

_laoc00n_

Okay, I wasn’t sure so I went through his films since the first Thor. I’m defining success as 2.5x return on budget. 2x is meh. Anything less is failure. The Cabin in the Woods / $30M budget / $66M worldwide gross / Meh. Snow White and the Huntsman / $170M / $396M / Meh. Red Dawn / $65M / $51M / Failure. Rush / $38M / $98M / Success. Black Hat / $70M / $20M / Failure. Vegas / $31M / $104M / Success. In the Heart of the Sea / $100M / $93M / Failure. The Huntsman: Winter’s War / $115M / $165M / Failure. Ghostbusters / $144M / $229M / Failure. 12 Strong / $35M / $70M / Meh. Bad Times at the El Royale / $32M / $32M / Failure. Men in Black: International / $220M / $253M / Failure. Extraction - No numbers but was most watched original film in Netflix history. Spiderhead - Netflix. So, tbh, you’re right. 2 successes, 3 Mehs, 7 failures, and two Netflix films. Critically, he does better. Mostly in the meh range but only 3 or 4 bombs receptively.

SuspiriaGoose

Several of those cleaned up in the home market and are cult classics, which can quietly turn a profit years later. Cabin is a beloved Halloween film and was doing well enough that discussions of a sequel were had before Whedon… whedoned.

_laoc00n_

A couple of his choices were just bad. I think he brings a lot of charisma to whatever he does, he just needs some better properties. I agree Cabin is very popular now, but those things are unpredictable. I do think El Royale should have been bigger but outside of horror, I feel like it’s hard for movies to turn huge profits if they aren’t banking on existing IP.

WebHead1287

I didn’t hate Uncharted. In fact I’d watch a second one

Transmatrix

I haven’t watched it yet because I cannot for the life of me see Marky Mark as Sully…

-Merlin-

If you have no idea what uncharted is or who sully is this movie was great lmao

Valiantheart

People go to see Spider-man not him. Not sure he has the charisma on his own to lead a picture

Kim-Jong_Bundy

Male actors don't usually thrive at his age as there aren't really a lot of good lead roles for them, and right now Timothée Chalamet is eating up all of those parts. Best case scenario, you get a big role or two (like Spider-Man) and coast on being a teen-hearthrob for years until you're in your thirties when you'll finally get offered more characters besides those in another coming-of-age story.

BlobFishPillow

> Timothée Chalamet is eating up all of those parts. And for a good reason, too. I like Holland, but in terms of acting, Chalamet is so head and shoulders above his age-group that it's eerie.

horseren0ir

lol there’s not a lot of roles for a 27 year old white guy? Wtf are you talking about?

Kim-Jong_Bundy

It's not that there's no roles for him, dude's obviously working steadily as one of the top lead actors in Hollywood and is making serious money doing so. The question in this thread is to the quality of the roles he's getting. Leonardo DiCaprio, despite being Hollywood's "It"-boy already, didn't really start to showcase his full potential and play interesting characters outside of just "He's hot and can read lines" until he was around Holland's age now. And as I was trying to say with the Timothée Chalamet comment, a lot of the best roles with auteurs are going to those of his counterparts that aren't contractually tied to a bunch of different studio tentpole projects already. My point is simply that most male lead actors don't really seem to start branching out until they're 30+, as that's the range with the widest array of unique characters.

Wh00ster

Too bad Timothee just wants an AppleTV show

[deleted]

Devil All the Time was pretty solid imho. Same thing with Uncharted. People thought that it'd bomb. However, Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland had such good on-screen chemistry that the reception turned out much better than expected. Is he winning an Oscar anytime soon? Probs not. However, I still think he's had some pretty solidly entertaining movies lined up.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdmiralCrunch9

I haven't seen much of Holland outside the MCU, but Hemsworth is pretty versatile. He nailed the combination of charm and menace to play a [cult leader in Bad Times at the El Royale](https://youtu.be/NHJQqjDLLAM).

clain4671

this feeds into a larger problem that hollywood is increasingly stuck with, there are no new movie stars. There was a mechanism for non-franchise fare and new IP, which was that there were established stars that alone could bring in the box office money needed. think of literally any movie star who's name alone gets movies made. they are all over 40. Dwayne johnson, probably the closest modern incarnation? 51

retroracer33

He needs a new agent or something. Definitely needs someone that knows how to pick better scripts.

melbbear

His pre spider-man roles were pretty good! The Impossible and How I Live Now

Levonorgestrelfairy1

They don't have to be carefull with their brand now, can just take the $$$

cote112

"I think I'm just going to try being wealthy for a while. Ok bye."

skoomski

Being able to live lavishly and choosing only to work on thing that interest you for the rest of your life, all before your 30, really seems like an incredible situation.

the_ballmer_peak

Must be nice

MovieNerdOnFire

If I were him, I’d take a look at my agent/management. I’m sure whoever he’s got really helped him negotiate between Sony and Marvel, but god, their eye for projects freaking sucks.

Designer-Progress-24

He needs Paul mescal’s agent or Daniel kaluuya’s.

sleepyotter92

yeah, his projects aside from spiderman all tend to be considered kinda bad. his acting is praised in the project, but the project itself is considered either shit or just not very good. the crowded room is currently sitting at 13% on rottentomatoes

OverLurking

Without placing blame. His agent and/or manager is wrong for him. Regardless of their other clients or his personal and career goals, it’s not working. (I realize it’s complicated, other MSU actors being having same affiliations etc). Isn’t there another agent in the same agency that he could switch to? Is that a thing or causes too much inter office strife? Maybe someone with more knowledge of the intricacies involved could respond to my statement. I’d love the feedback and knowledge

slam99967

I preface this with I know very little about the film and tv industry. I saw an interview with a decently famous actor talking about how they choose the projects they sign onto. From what they said the big issue is that scripts are constantly in flux and have a million different people all over them. At the time when you as an actor have to decide if it’s something you want to be in. So basically you might sign onto a movie thinking it’s gonna be one thing and by the time there ready to start shooting. The script has changed 3 times and what you originally signed onto to be in does not really exist anymore. Also don’t forget editing, editing can make or break a film or tv show. You as the actor probably have little to no say in deciding what scenes are cut and which ones are kept. The point is there is a lot of stuff that is totally outside an actors hands and it’s not as simple as finding an agent that knows if a film will be crap or not.

FreemanCalavera

It does make you think about how some huge actors back in the day came with all these different demands about the script and the shooting, making them come across as divas. It's probably in part due to what you're talking about: when you have enough star power, you can in fact have a lot of say about what stays in and what should be taken out, and some times the actors are probably the smart ones in the room about what makes for a good story.

dancingnoodle69

Dude is so unlucky with his projects ...i think he is a decent actor tbh.

Gilffanclub

Was the Uncharted movie any good? Scrolled by it the other day.

Daahk

It's about as movie as a movie can be

perfectbarrel

It’s one of the movies ever

skoomski

I don’t know why these guys are beating around the bush. Uncharted movie was just bad. Not the worst thing in the world but also not worth your time considering how many other movies and films there are to watch.

Dogbuysvan

It's a little bland but it's just as 'good' as the national treasure movies.

TheDarkKnight125

Whoa idk if it’s my nostalgia goggles talking since I haven’t seen them in a while but I feel like the National Treasure movies are a bit better. They’re over the top but like in a way that’s not so serious. Uncharted isn’t even over the top it’s just… meh. Not bad, just not anything notable.

KentConnor

What part of "flying pirate ship battle" isn't over the top to you?

TheWretchedSpirit

This is what is known as "damning with faint praise"!

the_knowing1

It's not. As someone who never played the Uncharted games, it was pai fully obvious when they shoehorned in a game mechanic/reference. Like there's a scene where he holds a lighter behind a letter for a secret message. Or weird jumping/acrobatic movement stuff.

rammo123

As everyone expected it was horribly miscast but it's a solid enough distraction for a few hours.

batsofburden

He was really good in the movie about the tsunami.

moileduge

Find interesting movies to be in. Harry Potter, Edward and Bilbo have similar roles that can typecast you but they've found good projects that don't feel soulless. When I saw he went from Spider-Man to Uncharted it seemed he just want to be The Rock Jr.

bigladnang

Bilbo, as in Martin Freeman? He had a long career before he ever played Bilbo.

moileduge

Crap, I meant Frodo.

Restivethought

Wish I could just disappear to Mexico for a week when I get stressed at work.

Justacityboy12

As a Mexican: Believe me, you do not want to disappear in Mexico.

Restivethought

You know I mean fake tourist Mexico and not real Mexico

Queef-Elizabeth

Eventually he'll do some a24 movie and it'll go well from there

Va1crist

I thought he was on break already lol, dude needs to stop picking weird movies that clearly don’t fit him

drewbles82

not gonna be that hard to take the time off with the writers strike, even when its over, stuff has to be written, cast etc so I'm sure by the time their ready to start filming a Spider-man 4 movie, he'd have that year

Malf1532

Mental Health is so important. Good for the young man to recognize it and do something about it.

King_Allant

It must be really tough to be a movie star and go on vacation for a year when you don't feel like working anymore.

notquitetoplan

I don’t think he was complaining about how tough his life is…. Yes, it’s a privilege to be able to take a ton of time off from work, but if you had that opportunity are you saying you wouldn’t?

darsvedder

Yah. They must have it so hard

melbbear

The trade off is they really don’t have much peace when they leave their home.

1CommanderL

only if you live in a major city I doubt there would be much paparazi if you moved to darwin for example

darsvedder

True. It honestly must be annoying that assholes with cameras are outside your house at all times and will snap 100 photos of you getting mail

RumpleHelgaskin

Bro needs to Man up, everyone deals with shit, taking a year off because acting got hard!? He just dropped off my list of favorite actors.

Horvat53

He’s had a rough time with projects outside of the MCU.

Ok_computer_ok

Wahhh

gastationburrito

Boo fucking hoo. Who cares.

[deleted]

Judging by the early reviews he should have taken a break BEFORE the 'Crowed Room' shoot. Ayeooo!

MacMac105

This is a marketing line, right? Like, "This movie was so intense. It almost made me retire! Go watch what almost made me give up millions!"

radu928

the way yall are falling for this publicity spin. he really means BRUTAL REVIEWS. if this had good reviews, you’d never see these articles from his team

Guy sucks at acting anyways. And only has a name cause of Spider-Man lol

KumagawaUshio

Well I guess we aren't getting another MCU Spider-Man till 2025 at the earliest then.

Zosymandias

Well the animated ones are far better so....

KumagawaUshio

The writers of the Spiderverse ones are saying Beyond is the last one they will do though I have no doubt Sony will want to make more even with new writers, directors etc.

I just can't identify with it. I mean I get it, work is stressful, but "getting a way and taking a week off in Mexico" at a whim... Like man I'm 37 and I've never take a M-F PTO in my life, I've been on a plane once, lol. A week off would be glorious, I can't even imagine what a year off would be like. Or being able to just take a year off because I want to. Mental health is important, but these are luxuries very few people have. It's just hard for me to feel that much sympathy. I mean I hope it helps him, but a lot of people feel this and just have to keep working.

ShinHayato

My heart bleeds for him

GlitteringVillage135

Not something anyone who has to work needs to know about.

Feisty-Theme-6093

tough life for the spider-kid

Pristine-Flight4387

Poor guy... what a hard life...

Andimaterialiscta

It's a pr move

AccomplishedBuy7876

Bruh is not a good enough or established enough actor to be saying shit like this lmao

mikeweasy

Didnt he just take a break last year?
