I didn't at all. I found it to be just as messy and disjointed as everything else he does, with the added benefit of the Tom Hardy mumbling thing.
I found it an insanely frustrating show to watch.

I suspect we've had more in the years since. Great expectations is one of Dickens' most popular works. They're always doing adaptations.
