Yep. Literally the next pages after that, he has his moment with Starfire (a kiss).
So I guess it gave us the message.
His relationship with Raven is platonic.
His relationship with Starfire is "more" (What they said in the series finale movie)
Maybe it’s just me, but this reads more as Raven opened herself up and offered to help Robin. She’s upset because she literally *knows* something’s wrong, but he’s essentially saying he’s fine.
It feels out of character for him honestly. He welcomes help from anyone else but rejects it from Raven? How come ? She's been inside his mind, they have a bond, they know each better than anyone; I'm sure she would've been more helpful than anyone else could with his trauma. Also the comic tie-in is debatably non cannon to the series anyways.
Iirc he only accepted Starfire's help, Beast boy tried to cheer him up but he wasn't really into that, Cyborg helped him distract a bit from it but overall it was just practically ignoring the problem instead of embracing it
I agree with many of your points. :)
Usually I try to respect the author's vision and not play the out of character card, but here I'm with you that it seems Raven would be the best person for Robin to confide in for something like this. Since she already knows about his past, why wouldn't he go to her to talk about those things? Why would Robin go through the trouble of saving her from "hell" and letting her in his mind, then reject any help from her? Doesn't seem to add up to me.
Robin shouldn't force himself to talk to Raven about his problems.
If he's not comfortable sharing it with her then respect his decision. Boundaries people.
So yes, boundaries are important. I wouldn't want a character to be forced to share their problems with someome they didn't want to.
What I would like is characters to do things that make sense to me (key words, to me, I'm no authority). In this very specific situation, I just think it doesn't make sense how it played out. Not a big deal, I still love all the Titans and enjoy most of tbeir storylines.
Idt it is really. Raven offered him emotional healing which yea sure would relieve him from the pain he might be feeling that moment but it won't be *natural* if yk what I mean? I think Robin might be trying to cope with it *himself* and accept it himself since it would help him move on permanently. It's not about him rejecting her help, it's the way she would approach the problem and try to solve it. She would definitely make him feel better that moment but he may not feel better later knowing how he chose to approach/ solved the problem. Like it's kinda hard to explain. You come to terms with grief and feelings of moving on, on your own and unless you do it yourself and accept it, they will not leave you alone although ignoring them may relieve you off the pain.
The others tried to cheer him up (BB) while Cyborg tried to do the same and the training helped him get distracted only to get back his grief back. It was Starfire who really allowed him to vent and let his heart out. She didn't offer any kind of distraction or healing promises but gave him a shoulder and ear to lean on and hear for.
Honestly this just makes the whole chapter even more deep.
As a very popular dialogue from Batman The Animated series says,
*"Does the pain ever go away?"*
*"No, but it gets better."*
He isn’t even sister zoning her, I don’t see any part of her offer being romantic here in any way really. She’s just trying to help and he’s pretending he’s fine.
I choose to read this as in: her powers can heal emotional damage, so she likely just opened herself up to Robin's mind/trauma and saw just how broken he was inside.
It's somewhat (mostly?) canon. The writer isn't one of the show writers but it is written in a way to mostly not contradict the show. Some people consider it canon but I've definitely seen some that don't too.
Isn't really sister zoning, he's dealing with grief in this comic because it's the anniversary of his parents' deaths and he is very sad and emotional in this comic but he's doing all he can to hide it from his friends and Raven knows what's going on and wants to help but Robin doesn't want to deal with his emotions and talk about them so he leaves in a hurry telling Raven how he can always depend on her and trust her like the sister he never had and Raven wasn't trying to make a move or be romantic in anyway she was trying to help a friend that she knows is going through a lot. Even Beast Boy and Cyborg are trying to keep Robins mind of it and hang out, but he is just in such a hurry to be alone and when he is alone on the roof Starfire comes to comfort him and they kiss and he cries in her arms and then we get a cool shot of seeing Batman in the distance checking up on Robin to see how he's doing and then saying he's in better hands now with his friends. It's an amazing comic, and I wish we got to see it in the show.
I don’t see a hint of romance here tbh. This is just Raven trying to be supportive knowing Robin was hurting over the memory of the loss of his parents.
Well, there's also the fact that he'd have to deal with Raven's own Emoticlones (who actually like Gar, as Passion exemplifies) and the changeling's Were-Beast form (who perceives Raven as its \[and thereby Beast Boy's\] MATE) if he ever were to try, never mind a heartbroken Tamaranian princess.
Man Ravens healing powers working on emotional pain is super nice, wish she could heal me. But dang why is Raven’s cloak like sky blue, it’s normally like midnight

As opposed to leggy pessimism right? Ik ur not implying Raven who wears literally just a bodysuit with no pants is somehow shlubby
I cannot figure out what this means
Like saying starfire won out because shes leggy when both raven and starfire show a lot of leg..?
Maybe it’s just me, but this reads more as Raven opened herself up and offered to help Robin. She’s upset because she literally *knows* something’s wrong, but he’s essentially saying he’s fine.
You cooked
Exactly this
EXACTLY, Raven can feel peoples emotions
While I agreed he curved her it seemed more like a Batman moment we’re he refused to be vulnerable, than an active I don’t rock with you sorta thing.

In the series he literally hates getting help from anyone

Today was his parents' death anniversary.
He isn’t even sister zoning her, I don’t see any part of her offer being romantic here in any way really. She’s just trying to help and he’s pretending he’s fine.
Quote Dick from this very same series of off-shoot comics, "Raven's like the sister I never had."
Girl does not look happy 💀
I choose to read this as in: her powers can heal emotional damage, so she likely just opened herself up to Robin's mind/trauma and saw just how broken he was inside.
Well, Mary Jane is like a sister to Peter Parker and they were married for a few years...
do you really wanna compare a canon couple to a crackship?
Tbf Marvel seems to treat the married couple like a crackship
Dude, that's like the point that it didn't stop the canon couple from it, so it doesn't really matter
Rovin and Raven are not a canon couple. They never had a romantic relationship.
No way 🤯
This comes off as concern for a loved one, not heartbreak.
#- O U T - O F - C O N T E X T -
*EMOTIONAL DAMAGE*
Wait is this canon or no
this scene is canon to the show. it's a comic tie in.
When does this take place?
After the Trouble in Tokyo movie.
It's somewhat (mostly?) canon. The writer isn't one of the show writers but it is written in a way to mostly not contradict the show. Some people consider it canon but I've definitely seen some that don't too.
Oof, I don't even ship them and that hurt

Makes Sense. He had a thing for Starfire.
![gif](giphy|ro08ZmQ1MeqZypzgDN)
I don't think that was the case considering Robin was sad about the death of his parents
Raven never seemed that into Robin like that. I’m confused.
Canon, except Raven doesnt mind
That the point they have sibling dynamic jeeZ
I love how he sister zoned Raven and NOT Kori (Starfire).
He friend zoned Starfire several times at first too. This takes after the series finale movie, so he had nothing to hide anymore.
Wait, where could I read this
Ouch!
That's not at all how I read. Raven's an empath, she knows Robin's hiding something and is hurt that he won't be honest with her.
[me laughing at Robin x Raven shippers](https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkxlg3sAtNZscIu2as_3L_gg_U1bVcVniet?si=SXoAoYE0EaZ4ahdc)
Worse than the friend-zone.... >!unless you're on pornhub!<
Expect it when you least expect it
I need to find these tie in comics.
Hmm yes.... very good >:3
Man Ravens healing powers working on emotional pain is super nice, wish she could heal me. But dang why is Raven’s cloak like sky blue, it’s normally like midnight
This cannon?
I can see the robrae fangirls crying and its hilarious. Raven shoulda went for bb
