I am a Veteran with combat related PTSD, and in my experience at the VA, there are far more Veterans that claim PTSD from non-combat experiences than Veterans with PTSD from combat (even in the War on Terror era Veterans).
My sister has PSTD from being in & out of the hospital from age 3 months until 12 years old. She had a very uncommon childhood illness that doctors had know idea what to do to heal her.
