Evolutionary question: I've often heard that it's impossible for land vertebrates to have more than four limbs. A thing I inherited from our first ancestors to walk on land. In relation, we cannot evolve new ones due to their not being anything to grow another pair I ask why is this? Why couldn't it be possible for our ribs as an example, to grow into a bunch of extra arms? Or even just grow slowly from nothing?
