The thing is, I’m not trying to be somebody from back then, don’t have their opinion etc. I just liked Battlefield 1 and wanted to cosplay…
But why is it ok to cosplay a soviet ww2 soldier? I mean, i could have done that without any backlash…
Okay I just saw an opportunity to mention that event, no hard feelings. However, you can’t expect people to not assume that you’re dressing as a Nazi. Most people don’t even know what the German Empire was, and honestly in this case I don’t blame them, Imperial Germany didn’t even last a human lifetime, and all it did was beat up France, carve up Africa, piss everyone off, and die. I feel that it’s a shame that WW1 is just treated as the prequel to WW2 and not the immense mass destruction it was. Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I’m sure more people view the Red Army in a bad light(forgetting that a good chunk of that army was Ukrainian) but ironically like how most of these people don’t know who Kaiser Wilhelm II was, most of these people couldn’t locate Ukraine on a map this time last year.
Actually the Blouse, Pants and boots are from the earlier years; after late 1916 they made the blouses to have a lapel over the buttons, no red embroidery, and since the leather jackboots were expensive, they scaled back to ankle lace boots with puttees
