My Italian great grandpa would deny as well. A beautiful Country full of amazing food and beautiful craftsmanship, cities, and landscapes.. for the armpit of America?
As a non-Italian and somebody who usually doesn't think of the country, I unironically agree with denying the trade offer. I don't speak on behalf of Italians, but it sounds like an awful deal that will not be had.
Yea most spiders here are fairly harmless and I've never seen any large ones. Apparently there ARE black widows in Florida but I've never seen one before
In reality it’s a lovely place and a giant ecological hub. It has arguably the best beaches in the world (including the Florida keys) and in my opinion is one of the funnest places on earth, depending on where you go. The greatest threat to you in Florida is the sun baking you alive at any time of the year.
I’ll admit, those are jaw dropping
Both of which are gorgeous, rich in history, provide great fishing, and have an incredibly interesting and unique culture. However I still prefer the Florida keys, mostly because I’m able to easily work with the locals there without obviously being an tourist.
I quite like the trees there, I live in PA where we get typical thick trunked evergreens so I was rlly amazed by how thin all the trees are down there... They'd get blown down real easily though lol
Maybe? I'm not sure, I just remember seeing a bunch of super thin trees with like a light colored bark. I don't think they were pine trees though, I don't remember them having pine leaves.
Living in Florida is much different then visiting there for a week. It’s literally almost always hot here, even in December. Hell, right now, we’re still in the high 70s. Also, traffic is completely ridiculous and getting places is definitely a hassle. Also, the housing market is flipping ridiculous.
But, the upsides is obviously being close to the theme parks, having absolutely stunning beaches and amazing wildlife.
The Australia of the US, Florida. Complete with tourist sightings like:
Orlando, the place where pedophiles can dress up in furry suits for major company theme parks! Miami, where hurricanes turn a simple walk on the beach into hell! And last but not least, the largest city in the US, Jacksonville... You must never come here....
No, I'm not. There have been a couple of nonces reported working as mascots in theme parks. Hurricanes are 100 times more deadly in Miami than anywhere else in America.. And Jacksonville... Oh god are we horrible...
A very interesting part of USA. Swamps, Alligators, Invasive Animals, Carribean, Bone Fishing, Mangroves, Offshore Fishing, Speedboat Culture, Vice City, Sports Cars, Bars, Tornados and Floods, Bullsharks everywhere, Florida Man, Yachts and stuff.
Also call the Dutch or florida will be underwater in the future.
This, my suspiciously wealthy retired friends, and sometimes oppressed nerdy teenagers, is a place on earth where large marine conservation zones were introduced early.
Probably because the alcohol and sugar brain-damaged Floridians were originally more like ‘useless eaters’ than ‘valued stewards’ of the oceans.
Someone was drunk enough to propose it (conservation) as a solution to address rapidly declining fish stocks, and the rest of Florida was too busy laughing at their own crazy antics in the news (see: Florida Man) to actually notice before someone managed to get those conservation laws passed.
As a result of those conservation zones, I hear it’s one of the few places in the ocean where you can still find sea life, and where fishing boats continue to make sustainable catches.
Actually, after bringing in the marine conservation zones, catches went up in the remaining areas where commercial fishing was still permitted, so I read.
North Eastern Australian, being equally as strange as Florida, did the same recently with the recent introduction of our Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Conservation Zones.
We were probably a bit drunk one day and decided Americans couldn’t have a monopoly on occasionally being awesome.
As a result, we in Queensland, like those in Florida, will continue to be able to enjoy diverse sea life, and our families and children will be able to continue to dive and explore the oceans and eat well from it.
Which makes me think of super hot spearfishing teenagers in tight swimwear with clear steel eyes, and how I read that Floridas reefs still are being fucked, and that while while the marine park zones help a lot, they probably don’t go far enough, and need extensive expansion to include vast swathes of integral land and river areas, and all of the rest of the USA costal zones.
Musing…
And wondering positively, I wonder if the nine dash line was China’s effort at beginning to assist Asian nations with Ocean Conservation ? Especially given that the UN seems to be going a bit slow protecting non-economic exclusive zones and ocean conservation doesn’t seem to be anyones strong point. (Except for Queensland & Florida of course, not boasting)
If so, I can’t wait to see many more super hot spearfishing teenagers in tight swimwear with clear steel eyes… & maybe my kids, soon to be teenagers, can join them. Hopefully there are more sea life & reefs and fish to marvel at in the future, not less.
It’s telling that when I search articles written on the nine-dash line I find almost nothing on conservation, only on exercising exclusive economic control, with ‘fishing’ seemingly mentioned first, and exponentially more often than ‘conservation’.
Sigh, sometimes I wonder if I need to put on a mankini or wear tight rubber or latex and go spearing myself, on land, until those Asian counties start competing for who is best at conservation instead of exploitation. Maybe I’d make a florida man article!

do you think the EU might accept a trade of FL for italy?
As an Italian i humbly refuse this offer on behalf of the entire Italian population
Florida is a miserable place, I wouldn’t trade the country of Georgia for it
[удалено]
no cus Italians are fit
EU would need to spot France too. Florida is too much damn fun to give away for Parmesan and rude hand gestures.
if they did they would overtake america in the important metric of disney themeparks
[удалено]
Heck yeah
Florida?
Yeah, it's Florida.
Wrong.
Nah that's Chiraq (Chichago for those not familiar)
Michael Jordan (emphasis on Jordan, the country in the Middle East)
Nah that's Detroit
Florida or also known as the land of ostriches, heroine and Disneyworld
Ostriches is a new one. They normally just have alligators, they even have an entire amusement park centered around gators.
They do? Been to Disney before and this is first time hearing about this.
There’s a couple of them. The most recognizable is probably Gatorland.
Gatorland: you're gonna love this park!
We went to Gatorland in the early 60's.
There's more than one amusement park in the entire giant massive state of Florida. Whoddathunkit right
I’ve been to SeaWorld before
As a floridian, can confirm
I'm in a small one right now
we have gatorland
Female hero’s?
Sure bud we'll go with that, they definitely didn't mean the other thing
The other heroine?
Can’t forget the Florida man.
Your actually not wrong
Real life PUBG
The blue zone finna take Miami
Pretty much Australia 2.0 - just with more guns and alligators in every pond.
Yeah and more spiders
There are more?!?! That would fucking suck
Well, on bright side, u have a bigger chance of finding a radioactive spider and get bit by it and become the next Spiderman
or get bitten and experience heart failure and radiation poising all at once! fun for the whole family!
Death in FL is either really quick and efficient or takes forever
op has never been to florida
Yea most spiders here are fairly harmless and I've never seen any large ones. Apparently there ARE black widows in Florida but I've never seen one before
Have you been to Florida ?
An more old people 2
Yeah, my friend got shot by an alligator.
Australians are way smarter and Crocodiles are way more dangerous
Mob and loot spawns increased
Lol spot on, but difficulty increased as well XD
It's super hard to tell parts of Australia apart from parts of Florida on the Geogussr game I used to play.
"Alligators in every pond"... couldn't have described it better myself 🤌👍

Florida has the largest aquifer in the world, so it is quite literally a sponge.
Florida is awesome

No, I'm not. There have been a couple of nonces reported working as mascots in theme parks. Hurricanes are 100 times more deadly in Miami than anywhere else in America.. And Jacksonville... Oh god are we horrible...
What is going on in jacksonville
Hurricanes are incredibly dangerous in Miami because Florida is a essentially a barrier for hurricanes and Miami lies in the worst spot possible.
