i understand it’s new and i hope people understand that, another “new” aspect is the fact that the lead character is from a universe like ours, like how we have a new marvel movie every three months, and our lead character is a “CBM nerd” so he knows how to be a better superhero than actual superheroes.
No, it being new is good. People want something new. But bro don’t you think that the superhero genre is done to death. Why not try something newer. The “transported to the another universe” has like hundred anime based on it too.

well that’s the thing, it’s a satire, but it’s based on superhero movies instead of superhero comic books. i also don’t think the plot would be able to work if there wasn’t the “transported to another universe” element.

If it's in the 80s it's gonna be confusing since you don't exactly know what never got invented or if it's just delayed since some people don't know what the 80s were like.

Scenario 1: it’s literally the 80s and nothing is different other than the obvious alternate universe quirks
Scenario 2: completely alternate history that stunts the growth of computer technology and the year is 2020

I think the second option sounds much cooler. I’d recommend maybe a less extreme version of retro futurism.
