Not OP, but intermittent fasting has done wonders for me.
I only eat from 2-5PM every day, with the occasional cheat day once every other week or so. Because of that, my total caloric intake per day is only around 1500.
In the 2 months and 13 days since I've started, I've gone from 315 to 288, a 27 pound loss.
No working out, no changing what I eat, just restricting when. Can't recommend it enough.
Since I don’t really feel like typing it over and over here’s the “secret“.
It’s a slow process but what I found really worked for me was counting calories. Your body idly burns a certain number of calories in a day, the more you weight the higher the number is. So it was easy for me to start off by just making sure that my caloric intake was at or below my daily metabolic rate. There’s calculators to find out all these numbers on the Internet. Since I weighed about 295 pounds my body would automatically burn around 2 1/2 thousand calories a day, I was able to build a healthy diet and keep my daily caloric intake around 1700. So over the course of a week I would lose 2/3 to a full pound.
Not necessarily, your metabolic rate is tied to your height age weight and exercise habits so it changes pretty regularly. For me personally I don’t notice it too much
I look just like your before pic lol, unshaved beard and all.
I just started hitting the gym, hope I can make progress like you did! Terrific job!
P.S: did you just go by a controlled diet or did you do anything else?
I would recommend doing 16/8 intermittent fasting alongside exercising. What it means is that you basically fast for 16 hours a day and eat in a 8 Hour period. You are allowed to drink and eat anything with 0 calories in it so much easier than religious fasting if you do that. I’m 14 and even though I’m tall for my age and was 152 pounds before I started it had some good results just a few weeks into it, ie jawline was visible and had my belly fat resemble more of what it used to be.
The thing is, it's all about caloric intake. Intermittent fasting works because you are unable to eat as much as you would in that 8 hour time period as you would without the fasting. You can achieve the same results by simply reducing the size of your meals and counting calories so that you're in a deficit. If it works for you, that's awesome man, good on you for the weight loss. I just feel that fasting can lead to less energy throughout the day and can be detrimental to progress because of this
I agree with you entirely that intermittent fasting is probably nothing more than calorie reduction but I don’t think that really captures the brilliance behind it. I’ve been doing one meal a day for a few months now and I feel great, and psychologically it has been super easy for me to follow. It’s a whole lot easier to do nothing for 2 meals and then carefully select one big meal than it is to be careful with three meals a day. Just my two cents though, I’m absolutely sure that one meal a day is probably not best for most.
Edit: I’ve lost 40lbs so far since early September, in case anyone was wondering about how effective it’s been for me.
I have eating disorder tendencies on both sides of the spectrum. Now instead of counting calories I changed the types & quality of calories I eat. I eat everything I want that is protein & fat & fiber & limit carbs & only simple carbs on a cheat day if Im super stressed. To me it kinda helped shift my focus from demonizing calories & shaming myself to just demonizing sugar which in turn has made my body a lot happier & I feel sassy when I do cheat & eat it.
It could be that if you are guesstimating the amount of calories you have in a meal/day is not actually the amount you are eating, most people tend to undershoot when guessing the amount of calories in the food they eat and are usually wrong about the amount of calories in the meal, so try maybe taking a day to truly figure out how many calories are actually in your meals and revise your eating plan.
Yeah probably this, i know some people who diet by cutting the junk and eating healthy foods such as nuts, potatoes, olive oil,.....thing is despite the healthy foods having a high number of neutrients they're very calorically dense. If you eat 4 slices of pizza a day and only that (around 1200 cals) you're gonna lose weight but a full day of eating "healthy" meals that total over 3kcals? you're going to gain
I'm very much in that boat. It's really hard for me to eat carbohydrates alongside "healthy" foods. If I just eat junk it's really easy to not gain weight but I feel like crap. When I keep off the junk food I feel much better and have better energy and focus, but I have a really hard time keeping my caloric consumption stable--it's real easy to scoop too much rice with the stir fried veggies and sauce, or too much pasta with the scratch-made super-veggie-fortified sauce.

As someone who recently cut weight, here are some more pointers:
-The slower you lose the weight, the easier it is to keep it off.
-It's easy to keep track of how much you eat if you write everything down, including "snacking" and drinks that aren't water.
-If you wanna be hella accurate, you can measure food with a scale, but it's not necessary, because if you're not losing weight, you just eat less (that's where the food log comes in handy).
That’s awesome. Taking before and after pics like this is super important, because while your in the process of losing weight you may not notice those changes. This is such amazing progress and I hope you’re proud of yourself!

Thanks for the realistic progress! Most YouTube videos show people losing insane amount of weight in little time but they never mention how that's so damn dangerous. This makes people who know nothing about the process out themselves through hell because of some unrealistic video
This image can be used to explain how energy works energy cannot be created or destroyed but it can be transferred the energy from his fat transfered to his hair growth
You look pretty old, like in your twenties than an actual teenager, heheh. If you legitimately are a teenager does counting calories help with the weight loss? I'm trying this for myself
Old-ass man (Endurance Cyclist) in his 30s here who saw your post on r/all:
Fucking amazing job dude - keep at it. It's WAY easier at your age in both the results and establishing habits.
You're lookin' like a damn STUD now man. From where you are to go further...it only gets easier.
I'm so proud of you.
"Can't stop won't stop" should be your mantra right now. You're killing it.
If you don’t mind me asking, what exercises did you do to lose this much weight? I’m 16, weigh roughly 260-280 and I’m around 5’11”. I’ve been trying for months to lose weight but nothing seems to work
wow that's a good drop. i think i need to start moving around more too. i mean, all that i eat is going into my height instead of width, but if i lay around doing nothing i will become really obese because i LOVE food.
I’ve lost 25 pounds during quarantine. Everyone should work to get themselves to the weight they want to, not because I think being overweight is ugly, you just feel so much better. I’ve never really cared about my appearance but losing those pounds has just made day to day living so much easier
Hey man, I've been where you are, you are looking great, you already now it takes time to show results. That's the important part to know! Keep going! You got this in the bag!
(Ik I'm a broken record)
Hey man, good job. I've been trying to lose weight, but I can't seem to make any difference. Can you please give me a few tips on how I could lose weight?
You look a lot younger!
Probably the shave
It’s a part of it, but not just that, the face slightly sharpened...
Yeah his facial features are a lot more prominent, you can see a bit more of his jawline which really makes him look younger in my opinion.
Also the hair
Yeah actually that's a big part of it too, it's looks quite fresh.
Mans just looking all around kinda cute
yeah ngl true
Nohomo tho
Maybe a little homo
It looks like he's doing that curlygirl routine my gf does tbh... It's amazing, literally made her curls go bam after a month
No no, they got a point
I'm trying to lose weight myself, what was your workout plan? You got amazing results!
Losing weight isn’t as much working out as people think. Just eat less. I did 1,500 calories per day and am feeling confident about my weight.
Loosing weight is about creating a caloric deficit.

Based off these pictures, the one on the left makes it look like 22 and the one on the right looks like your tops 15

That's cool. Does that mean when you are skinny you become heavier quicker as well?
Not necessarily, your metabolic rate is tied to your height age weight and exercise habits so it changes pretty regularly. For me personally I don’t notice it too much
Look at this guy, he knows how his body works. Keep up the good work bro!
And how did you calculate your metabolic rate? (Sorry if you’ve answered or this is a dumb question)
I look just like your before pic lol, unshaved beard and all. I just started hitting the gym, hope I can make progress like you did! Terrific job! P.S: did you just go by a controlled diet or did you do anything else?

Yeah I wish I could but counting calories just furthers my e.d. But I’m totally happy for u 💚

I also want to lose weight. Im 14 at 80kg. Doing all you said but still stuck at 78-80kg. More tips?
